I use fingernail clippers to trim the ends of the knots in the rigging, it gets really close. I just bought this model and want to make it super realistic. 😁
Nice build! What you may want to try with the sail and detail work, is making a wash. You can buy them premade, but it's easy to make by thinning your paints with a lot of water and a drop of dish soap. It will run into cracks/recesses but leave the raised portions untouched. Just a tip if people are interested, take or leave it as you choose. All the same, thanks for another great tutorial!
Excellent kit of the Gokstad Skibet/Ship.... Though very detailed, it still require's some up grading to some basic missing details.....such as the missing head boards at the Prowl Stern and Bowl and the quarter deck vertical board etc etc.
I believe that the Revell skill level is actually *only* based on the number of parts so even if the kit is super easy if it has a lot of parts it will still have a high skill level.
I think I would have used a primer to paint the ship and it's pieces. More work of course, but then your ship can look more natural instead of a fudge brown. Regardless, it's a nice fun looking ship to build, and the video was naturally helpful.
Great question. Yes, the rigging sure took time. I listened to music. It was good. And about patience- This Friday Fish and Chips will be on the topic of patience.
Love the intro song. I am subbing straight away ☺ I've been building a Viking ship for my little channel and am looking for tips on rigging. Thanks for your vid ☺
Hey I'm new here and new at making craft swords in general but I wanted to see your opinion on how to make a pretty bizarre blade. It's the Great Thunderblade from breath of the wild and it's probably one of my favorite weapons of all time. I have watched some of your previous videos on how to make bizarre swords and fantasy weapons. But I just wanted to try and get help on this particular sword, as it's two handed and pretty unconventional. I also just wanted to know a stable way of making it so that it's durable and doesnt break. Thanks :) (nice job on this ship btw!)
hi Will! Thanks for the video, even tho i have never done models now i have an urge to make a viking ship :D I'd be really interested to see any more chain-mail videos/tutorials, are you planning to make any more?
Thanks for watching. Never know about chainmail. The thing is that it takes so long to make. I have difficulty finding the time. I want to do some platemail first. Have only done a helmet.
Hey Will, should the oars be in a bit more...I wouldn't like to do the rowing on that kind of leverage would you ?? Also, every oar has 2 vikings manning it...16 oars on each side, 64 shields...some nordic math leaves 2 vikings to every oar... And given the fact that most vikings resemble yours and mine physiques you may want to stick the oar in quite a bit...possibly even almost reaching the ships center line...
Btw do you know Anything about chrome silver? I was thinking of restoring my little brothers lego Sword but I got no idea how I’m going to re chrome it
Hey Will, How about making a 1/1 Scale of the 5 power ranger weapons, and a combined form of said weapons, from the original Mighty Morphing Power Rangers, or a 1/1 Scale of Fred Flintstones Car, ((EVA Foam, Particle Board, thick wall PVC piping and lots of contact cement.) I have looked around for a picture i could send you, and yet, I found none. BUT if there was anyone who could do it, it is you, the Epic Fantasy Will.
Wow, what a great question. I have plans to do a video and tutorial on how to design a paper castle. I took a lot of notes for that exact thing when I was making the last paper castle . I will do it. Just not sure when.
why is it always so god damn important if those little scale ships are floating or not? It's like fucking retarded to even think about such things. These Scale Models are for presentation, not for playing.
so on youtube we have kids making viking ships from scratch and adults making kids models....boooo expected more from an adult...lol....just kidding ;)
Just found your channel and absolutely love it! Keep doing what you are doing buddy!
Beautiful, my ancestors would be proud
Made a card board viking ship for a 7th grade art project, it was pretty great. Painted it and everything. :D

EpicFantasy I just want to say a huge THANK YOU!!!! You got me back into crafting again, thank you for everything 😎
You are very welcome! Have fun with your return to crafting!

Great comment. So would this work for getting some color into those rope lines that criss-cross the sail?
Exactly!
Yes vellejo make a grate acrylic wash that can be cleaned up with a damp cloth

Can you please build a tribute model of the Viking ship and old ironsides in the same size that you did in this video
I absolutely love this channel. Fun and entertaining.
Thanks for watching!
Hey thanks will for making videos!! I learned so much from your terrarium videos

Hi the boat so it’s goes not look to many look great how many 28mm figures do you think can stand on the boat
I believe that the Revell skill level is actually *only* based on the number of parts so even if the kit is super easy if it has a lot of parts it will still have a high skill level.

Thanks. What is cool is your workshop :)
You are awesome!

Viking ship looks really good. You must have a lot of patience doing that fiddly rigging sir?
Great question. Yes, the rigging sure took time. I listened to music. It was good. And about patience- This Friday Fish and Chips will be on the topic of patience.

Thanks for your vid ☺
Catherine Mechael Because its hard ☺
Good job on the Viking ship. If you are going to use the bare plastic color...try applying matte coat to remove the plastic shine.
KUTGW. Bill
Great tip. Thanks!
And you're right about the smallest piece ☺
Nice vid

that actually sounds pretty awesome! already looking forward to the video!
what glue do you use?
what is the point of painting the shields before applying the decals?

Could you make hestia knife from Danmachi??

Could you do a video on designing paper castles? I've tried a few times but I keep failing miserably I don't have much experience.

Can u please make the Mary rose ship model?
Can you please build a Us civil war cavalry Saber.
Nice, I'd be inclined to hand paint it all rather than use the decals though.
How to make angel sword from Heroes 5 of Might and Magic???
How do 28 mm miniatures fair on the deck of that model?
Great idea! I think they will be a bit big but I will give it a try!
does it float
why is it always so god damn important if those little scale ships are floating or not?
It's like fucking retarded to even think about such things.

Hello,
Can I send you a gift/challenge kind of thing?
You are free to pick a gift from my wishlist but.... I can't really make any promises as to a challenge. I have a long list of work. Send me an email.
epicfantasy it's a DIY project I made.
oh, cool. Send me a pic!
Ok using that decal ruined it for me I hate the inaccuracy of it
Noooooooo... why did you use that silly decal on the sail???
For some reason I thought it was made out of wood.
I should do one out of wood. That would be an interesting project. A bigger one!
epicfantasy hell yeah it would. You could try to paint the shields yourself too, that would be really awesome!
Sloppy build.. sorry
Los vikingos no tenían cuernos 😭😭😭😭
so on youtube we have kids making viking ships from scratch and adults making kids models....boooo expected more from an adult...lol....just kidding ;)
