I was afraid they were showing a different “Carrie,” for a second, and thought, “In the middle of the afternoon? They’d never!”

It was odd really how the music playing with the Test Card was faded as it was still on there. Surely they would have let it end before the fade into the figure 2 and rundown menu too?

Didn’t know that singing was permitted on the testcard

There were a few tapes in the mid-late 70's using pop vocals, either covers or er, "outtakes". These albums were part of the BBC Radioplay catalogue that were used as a pool of material for Test card tapes (along with material shared with european broadcasters). As well as repessings of library LPs', others had commercial pop & jazz material, aso for use on BBC Radio. This tape was part of a pair apparently just for use on regional transmissions but this one, Baby I'm a Want You had a national BBC 2 slot on the playlist from Nov 1979 - mid 1983!

Maybe it's the tracking on the video tape, but Testcard Girl's eyebrows kept wiggling up and down in a very disconcerting way. That'll add to my Testcard F induced nighmares :/

I would have liked to hear songs from Play School over the test card.
