Even though I’m a pianist, I prefer the crispness of the harpsichord. The piano sounds good, but muddled for this piece.
It is obvious it was written for harpsichord; it is obvious my preference... 🙂
La buena música suena bien en todas las versiones. He escuchado otras, para laud barroco, tiorba o guitarra, también muy apreciables. Y, aunque todas me gustan, me quedo con la magia tímbrica del clavecín.
I myself am forced to use a piano, as I don't own a harpsichord (electronics don't count here), but the harpsichord version is the winner.
It depends on what instrument you are used to. Some people find the harpsichord timber ringing, metallic. I, for one, don't care much for Goldbergs on piano. It's mostly a matter of personal taste.
I am always partial to the harpschord.
harpsichord feels more kinetic. Piano has more depth. i love them both

Wow, they sound like 2 different pieces! I think I prefer the piano version, but the harpsichord is also very enjoyable to listen to. Is there much difference in playing technique? Which do you prefer to play?
Hi Mrs Graham! Yes the technique is different because of the different mechanics of the keyboards. I was born a pianist, but couldn't do without the harpsichord. In fact I think piano and harpsichord couldn't live without each other 😅
Personally I have always preferred the sound of the piano, and I like the piano version of this piece better!
