- The SlipSlider is a genius innovation by harmonica guru Brendan Power. Built around the classic Hohner Special 20, it has a sliding reed plate that allows for many additional blowbends and drawbends. This means it's a fully chromatic instrument, but more importantly, it gives you way more soulful bending options when playing blues or country music. No longer do you have to cross harp to play blues. There are some wonderful first position capabilities, as I demonstrate in this video. All the normal playing techniques you're used to on a standard Richter harp are preserved.
So glad you like it Rory :-) Most people find it too weird!
I'll be getting more of them. I have quite a few harps in Powerbender tuning as well, so I'm used to figuring out weird things. Ha.
@@RoryHoffmanMusic You have so many instruments that I thought, why not use them all to do a cover of Blinding Lights with Eline Vera written by the Weekend. Blinding Lights is a very fun song to play on everything.
@@RoryHoffmanMusic What's really cool about this harmonica is that it makes your Harmonica stuff sound more Piano like.
you rock Brendan!
"Turning a bug into a feature" is wisdom.
Awesome playing !!!
Rory! Your fans are waiting on more videos! You’re the greatest dude! Hope all is well.
great demo my friend!! and superb riffing!!!
Quite a Harmonica
First off, you're extremely talented w/ wide range of skills! I was originally looking for tongue drums. Little did I know I'd stumble on this! Thank you for your insight! Very cool!
I love that, you did a damn good job, I love the blues, always wanted to know how to play the harmonica,
Thanks Anthony. Glad you enjoyed it.
rory hoffman how can I get you to come on my show
@@roryhoffman485 You can play a Glee cast version of Lean on Me on your Harm cause Naya Rivera passed away from drowning. RIP Naya Rivera
Your half-slide moves are interesting Rory. I was aware of the half-valved effect, but not using the slider move for decorations. I'm a bit dubious about that; I'd worry it might damage the reeds. Normally I recommend momentarily stopping your breath before doing the shift - you can get used to it quite quickly. But this quick shift while playing seems to be working for you :). Another aspect of the half-shift: it should make overdraws easier. Not that you need them anymore, since the draw bends are much easier, and sound better :)
Never thought about it damaging the reeds. Guess I'll keep that effect to a minimum, but it's too cool not to throw in once in awhile. :)
@@roryhoffman485 The Valved effect really makes this instrument awsome. You could really play Glee Cast songs on this instrument to keep things rolling cause Naya Rivera sadly died of drowning. RIP Naya Rivera.
Love the videos, man.
amazing channel, I am amused. congrats!
Dude you are awesome
Great playing on any instrument you choose. And you got the genius of Brendan Power making innovative creative designs. Well done by Rory and Brendan
