It's like saying then that Noah is not part of bad omens, if he's not going to sing or even say something in the song, it shouldn't be a bad omens song, I think it would have been better as a poppy song in collaboration with bad omens (sorry if my English is bad, I'm Spanish)

there is that kind of people, but in my case I dont like the song simply because is not that well structured and I just think Poppy is meh, specially in the way she screams. But also, I understand this song is an introduction to a concept that the band is making and that is why Noah is not in the song, so I appreciate the artistic effort behind all that.

So I wanna point out that Noah PRODUCED this song. So even if he isn’t there vocally, he’s still there. He doing a bit of Trent Reznor move right now, and showing that Bad Omens is more than just him. The band has talent as a whole.

I wish more people thought of a band as a band and not just the singer. The title even says Bad Omens "X" Poppy, implying it's a collaboration and not just a feature.
I’m with you on this. Like there’s a reason it’s called A BAND. It’s a group effort not just one person. We leave that for the pop stars lol I actually really enjoyed this song, plus knowing Noah apparently helped produce it makes me want to see more of his production skills.

Mixed reactions but I thought this song was sick. Love the industrial vibes. Don't care that Noah's not in it. It's a collab and Noah can contribute in other ways. Still very clearly a song made by Bad Omens imo, despite Poppy taking the vocals.
Yeah great industrial style🎉 The best song from poppy for me until now. Bad omens musically supporting this track is recognisable and they did a great job here. At the "red breakdown part" it would have been even more awesome to have some Noah screems there❤🎉.
My guess is Noah wrote it. He has talked about ghostwriting for other artists before Bad Omens blew up. But yeah, it's a definite Poppy track but flavored with Bad Omens.

I think and call me crazy, but maybe this is not the full song and Noah will sing in the second half of the song. Cause that second half sounds a bit empty and repetitive. But that’s a stretch.

Supposedly Bad Omens is in the process of making two albums. One’s a follow up and the other is a remix/collaboration album.

Yeah exactly! In her old music video for Time Is Up and some of her old shorter youtube videos she was constantly portrayed as this robot and as something that needed to be contained, on a runway she even once was put in a box, this video seems to symbolize her chasing away that old persona (hence the smashing the glass in this video) and stepping into her real authentic self. Like, the duality of both of her identities basically. That’s just my interpretation tho obviously. 😭
and also the teasing of the song literally said “v.a.n takes over” and in the video poppy is v.a.n so she takes over the vocals 🙄 people need to read more

The instrumentals are also a mix of all of the songs from TDOPOM. The song is a commentary on AI, but people are completely missing that.
The thing about Poppy: she doesn’t like wearing pants 😂 other than that I genuinly love this song. The writing and producing by Noah are just immaculate. Poppy’s vocal are killer too, this really is an amazing collab and I for one am hyped for the rest of this album! It’s really really sad that so many babies are crying cuz you don’t ‘hear’ Noah.

I mean, Noah does produce and write for other bands and solo artists. You just gotta check the credits. On Tidal you can check that, every song he has credits on (and it's usually him together with Jolly).

1. Bad omens are huge HEALTH fans and this has major HEALTH vibes similar to what do you want from me so, this makes sense to me. I don’t think you’ve covered HEALTH but you really should, Rat Wars is an amazing album
2. After listening to this non stop since release I think the phrase “violence against nature” is the AI (poppy) saying that to herself, like violence is against her nature

The "lore" of this song is that Poppy is an AI who has deleted everything by Bad Omens, including Noah. Their Instagram promo videos explain that, and more. Supposedly, V.A.N., the name of AI Poppy, is going to be the focus of the next BO album.

@Eris_Nyxx Yes, the scientists in the video do have the Aperture logo on their jackets. It's probably just because Noah & the band are fans of Portal, it's very unlikely to be a collab with Steam.
Considering Poppy is now the voice of Bad Omens' AI, V.A.N., she will probably have a few more features on their new album. But I don't think she'll release content of her own based on VAN or in the same style (because the song & video were produced by Noah Sebastian of Bad Omens, not her or her team).

There's been no story yet to tell about the transition it just happened some songs have hinted at it but there's been nothing to talk about her transition from what she was to what she is now and it feels like she might start doing that with her own records.
People that don't know Poppy don't realize that she's very very popular and she has been for a very long time. She's a good standalone artist and hurt doing a collab with this She's a good standalone artist.
From an article I saw, they wrote the song from the perspective of A.I. gone rogue (in the vid/song poppy being the rogue A.I.) Knowing that, I think she was perfect for this. This song is a banger. If Nik is right about her being locked up like...free poppy?

Been to the Berlin concert yesterday of Bad Omens with Poppy as the supporting act and man this song slaps live. She's amazing. Noah actually doing the scream parts together with Poppy. Awesome show 🔥
I was so surprised, I'm a big fan of Synth/Retrowave/Cyberpunk and this is just perfect!
While I do wish Noah was on it cause he has one of my favorite singing voices in the industry, mad respect to them taking this route for their first new song in two years. I know Noah does a lot of mixing/synth work as well so Im sure he had a hand in the song in a major but background kinda way. After the last year of people turning on them because of the way Noah has been getting idolized by the fairweather/poser fans who just think hes hot, mad props for this as a concept, because they are more than just him. I agree with Nik, they're a production and vocalist driven band, so even without him the band is still bad omens because hes only part of what identifies their sound.
He probably needs to rest his vocals as well. Especially remembering how he lost his voice in that concert few months ago. I'm a fan of Noah too but i wish the fanbase can stop being creepy about it. Just.... adore him respectfully 😩

Noah wrote & produced this song. It's in the credits of the VAN video. It really does feel like he's protesting the creepy fans, or at least trying to drive them away.
As someone who loves Poppy and likes Bad Omens, I LOVE this! Certified banger, Bad Omens killed it with the instrumental! I also love that this song will weed out all the terminally online irrational and close minded "fans" haha
I had this song on repeat all day and have now fallen completly for it. haha Poppy is great. At the beginning (a few hours ago) I wasn't sure if it was for me, but now the song really got me. I love it!
The Aperture Science logo on the doctors suits, Poppy sounding like GlaDos (hating nature like Shodan, acting like a rogue AI), everything in a facility.. one of Bad Omens most recent clips also took place in sort of a facility. Ash from Sumerian Records being an avid gamer and pirate before and around the time of Half-Life.. Something interesting is brewing here for sure!

Something to say to this is that in a a bit of an older interview noah said that he originally wanted to be a producer and not a singer also for a part of his privacy and i think with the way bad omens fans have been he could'nt be more happy to step into the producer role more.

It is a concept song about an A.I. that is plotting the death of its creator. It isn’t so weird when you know the story they are telling. A little context skit at the beginning would have been useful.
I seen this theory that there is a callback to every song from TDOPOM in this and Poppy is the character of AI that wrote took over and wrote the song. Which sense. AI could be violence against nature.

I’ve seen so many people treating this song like it’s radioactive, typically starting with something like “so what are your opinions on the Bad Omens song?”. The song is a banger, it’s not like the lead is leaving or anything, and like many people pointed out, he produced it
I don't understand why everyone is saying there's no Noah. It's the most Noah sounding thing, he clearly wrote this. He isn't a singer, he's an artist & musician. Let musicians be musicians.
Noah has previously spoken both about how he loves Poppy's music (see album release listen along stream) and how he's always wanted to hear Bad Omens songs with different vocalists - even calling out that he thinks some of them might be better with a female lead vocal (see State of the Scene interview). So the nature of this collab make a ton of sense IMO. Also, it FUCKING SLAPS.

I first saw poppy before she was doing music. Her channel was just weird and kinda creepy and was in one of those top 10 weird creepy lists. It was almost like it was for kids but there was something disturbing about it. Glad to see her make it in the metal scene

The actual beat is so good, I just personally cannot stand Poppys voice and something feels off about her. I get the whole concept they've gone for and it's very smart but I kinda get the vibes that Sumerian Records are pushing Poppyy on Bad Omens due to their success. Unfortunately, a lot of the metal/alt community just can't get behind her voice and I don't think that's gonna change just because shes collabing more with alt artists. This will just be a hype song for those that like it, which will probably temporarily boost her then everyone will move on to the next thing. Just my opinion 😊 Jolly definitely needs more recognition in this bad. He writes so many bangers
