- Enjoy a time-lapse oil painting come together from start to finish. There is always so much to learn! In this video I give occasional tips I've learned as a self-taught artist that you might be missing out on! If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a comment!
Man your getting really good at drawing waves
Thanxxxx 😁
I'd still watch it tho. Sometimes watching can improve your own skill. I find the spoonfeeding tutorials too slow and confusing in the long run. Maybe watch and then give it a shot.
That looks real! But has just enough touch that I can tell it's a painting, which means you nailed it!
That's what I'm going for! Thanks
It’s impressive to watch you doing such a fantastic painting by someone who was self taught. Well done. Thank you. Jose from Australia
Thanks Jose! I appreciate it!
Wow I love the energy, power and light you paint into your waves. Thanks for the tips. Love your work.
Thank you and you're welcome!
I loved the way you painted and explained awesome thankyou.
My pleasure, much appreciated!

Thanks so much!!😀
A lot of nice colors in a ocean wave
Thanks 🙂
Wow 😍😍😍
👍
That's a pretty wave))
I'm glad you like it Danila!
Definitely adding this to my saves. Im a new oil artist converted from graphite life. Seascapes is what i want.
Cool! I was originally only working with acrylic, but I tried oil paint and definitely prefer it. Thanks for the comment 🙂
Fun to watch..... keep on.....xxxx
Thank you!
This video was very helpful to me! I was trying to paint waves and everytime I tried I was unhappy with the end product. Seeing your little tricks to create mist was just the little trick I needed to make my waves more realistic. Thank you!
Absolutely! So glad it benefited you! 👍🙂
Отличная работа!
Спасибо!
Love the process. and just subscribed ur channel. 😊
Awesome! Glad you like the content! Thanks for subscribing 😃Also, I like your art!
I ove the depth and colors. If you can, could you please make videos with a side by side image of you painting and the palette as you are painting? Please?
Thank you! 🙂I'll see if I can figure out a way to add it into my video edits, although very often, I don't have an image I'm copying because it's in my head. I'd like to film more of my color-mixing however. Thanks for the suggestion! Have a wonderful day!
Bellissimo ❤
Grazie 😊
It looks awesome. I hope you could also show how you mixed colours to get these wave gradient. Please tell us what you do while you paint. It will be helpful for us who are stuck as a bigenner 😅
Thanks so much for your questions and compliment! I have a lot of different videos on my channel that cover different aspects of my painting process. I think this video though is a good one for beginners 🙂👍czcams.com/video/kAk7HM7MvsI/video.html
I would like to do a video on mixing colors though. If you have any more questions or want to know more about color mixing, let me know.
Beautiful work. I love the end result! But can you tell me what colours you used for each layer?
Thank you! I believe I used every color on my palette throughout each layer in my mixing except for Alizarin crimson, which I only used in the sky and maybe the background coastline and distant ocean. (I want to get better at filming my color mixing in future videos as I see a lot of comments of people wondering this.) Have a great day!
Show! 👏👏👏👏👏
😁
Awesome, I’ll get there soon
Thanks! What do you mean?
I paint as well
Oh, nice. Well, I hope you never see my paintings from ten years ago lol@@StevoMculeZ
good work, congratulations |
Thank you!
I love the painting but to learn, I needed it to be slower so I could see your brush changes / strokes and follow and understand your process. Drying between layers is new to me, was there a technical reason for this or did time necessitate it. Also, did you use medium? Thank you.
This is truly sensational! I really hope i can paint as well as you one day! Did you use a reference image for this? Do you keep referring back to the image whilst painting?
Thank you so much! 🙂 Yes, I had a reference image I looked at throughout the painting process.
Brawo!
😊❤
Your waves are fabulous. Please do more waves?
Thank you! I've done a lot of videos like this with other wave paintings, and would love to do more!
@@windowstoheavenart994 I've watched all the ones I could find on your channel. They're fabulous. But you can never have enough waves. 😊😊
Haha agreed 😆 I'll just have to do some more then! Thanks for watching them and thanks for the compliment 🙂 @@conjurebones
Stunning!!!
Thank you 🙂
@@windowstoheavenart994 Is there a reason you won't sell to me in South Africa? If I covered courier costs, would you consider it? It's tooo beautiful, honestly.
I haven't offered my paintings overseas simply because I haven't set it up on my website yet. I'd love to research it however and start. Is it a print you are interested in, or the original? I appreciate it ☺ @@hushpup
@@windowstoheavenart994 Thanks for your response :) I am interested in the original (which is what I thought it was as it's pretty pricey, although that could just be the exchange rate, as our currency is a lot weaker than the dollar). I might be wrong, but if you could let me know, if it's a copy or the original, I will really appreciate it. Over the years I have searched for the perfect painting of a wave breaking, and had resigned myself to believing that if I wanted something that matched the image in my mind, I would have to paint it myself (not going to happen, unfortunately, I just don't have the ability to get it right). BUT I have always thought that if I ever saw the perfect painting, I would know. This is the perfect painting in every way, but you may well want to keep it. Regardless, just know that I think it is truly spectacular! Absolutely beautiful! Congratulations, honestly😃!
Absolutely! Thanks too for the compliment, it means a lot! 🙂 I sell copies of the painting AND the original itself, which has a price of $750.00 when it is not on sale. I am definitely interested in selling it to you, but I must admit, I need to brush up on my knowledge of international sales. My main concern is "customs issues" (If an issue did arise, and an original painting got lost in shipping, obviously, I couldn't replace the item). My gmail is "sncooley95@gmail.com" if you prefer to talk in a more private setting. Thanks again! 🙃 @@hushpup
😀👍👍
😄
explain how you make that beautiful light green part of the wave where some light showns through. I guess the cad yellow over the light phalo blue?
Thanks 🙂 I believe I used a touch of Cadmium Yellow with some of that Viridian Hue mixed with some Titanium White to lift the value. I applied touches of it onto the uppermost part of the wave where I had blended the green from darker tones to lighter tones.
Brilliant..so clever..
Can we see another...'The Storm'?
Thanks Peter! Hey, that's an idea...
Beautiful and inspiring

👌👏⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
☺
Wonderful job, can you share with brand and size of brushes you used in this piece from the beginning? Thanks and greetings from Costa Rica
Thank you! The brand of brushes I use are almost entirely from Benicci, although I do use some old brushes I've had for many years along with those. I think the brushes I used for this painting were all synthetic bristled brushes with the following sizes; a number 15 Filbert, a number 3 Round, a number 9 Flat, a number 7 Angle, and a very small detail brush that is probably a number 1 Round. Thanks for your question! God bless 🙂
Thanksgiving so much! Love your painting! Do you have academia online classes e can suscribe for clases in detail ?
@@DraMaurenNavarro You're welcome! Thank you ☺. Currently, this channel is all I have for painting classes, but perhaps someday I'll put together a more detailed series on painting like this. In the meantime, I appreciate all your questions!
Класс!!!
😊
What brushes are you using?
Totally awesome by the way!
Thank you! 🙂@@winterblossom98
I use a brand called Benicci. I would recommend them for sure. In this painting, I used something large (probably a Filbert) for the toning, a small Round brush for the sketch, a medium sized Filbert, medium and small Angle brushes, and finally some smaller Rounds throughout the rest of the painting. I believe all of them were synthetic bristles too. I hope that answers your question. Have a happy new year 😄
Great! Thanks! I use synthetic brushes too even though the recommended is hog bristle I find to be too harsh and the former is a bit softer
Absolutely! Exactly, I totally agree.@@winterblossom98
I guess this is just you showing us what you can do and not a tutorial because there's no way this could be followed thanks but no thanks
Thanks for the comment, and I'm sorry for what you said. One of the things I like to say is that one can learn a lot simply by watching someone paint. That's actually how I learned myself, by watching others paint in time-lapse. Thanks again and have a great day! 🙂
