Well 1. - any trans person with integrity would have the necessary conversation needed before things get that far. If the cis-male is attracted to her (post top op as you said, not pre op like the included video), then he can indeed be considered straight. He is attracted to femininity. If there are deeper feelings, they can talk about how to navigate things in the bedroom until bottom surgery is done. (face down, no sword can be seen, etc.)
2. If they are pre op, and the cis-male is attracted to the masculine presentaion, they may be gay/bi/pan whatever. But a conversation will need to be had if the transition to a feminine body will make the cis-male lose interest.
Last, dating has only changed in that people are starting to go after what they really want instead of settling for status quo. Nobody is making things up (unless you argue that everything is kind of made up lol). People have decided to use scientific terms more often for specificity and better communication.
That said, everybody mad is childish and doesn't know how to have a mature conversation before engaging in a potentially life changing event (life changing could be pregnancy, disease, perspective, trauma, anything)
