Whenever I'm in a red light district (anywhere) I'm reminded of being a young lad and watching wasps enticed into a jam jar, half filled with water, from which few happily manage to escape whilst the rest either plunge straight in and drown or beat their wings increasingly slowly until exhaustedly dropping to meet the same fate.
Even more interesting to note some of those which escape their initial visit, having learned nothing, return, sometimes again and again, until they, too, end up drowning.

I’m consider myself so lucky, because I love the gym and staying in shape is the biggest priority for me. This acts as a counter-balance. It serves as my anchor, preventing me from indulging too much in any of the 3 things you talked about. I also never, ever ‘chase’ women. For me, the thrill is when the girl chases and pursues ME. It’s a big turn on for me. That’s just the way my brain is wired. I have very little interest in drinking either and although I definitely enjoy to socialise, I’m very happy just being by myself somewhere peaceful and quiet most of the time, away from the crowds 👍

Mate take is from someone who went through this. The first time I was in Thailand was 1984. Very different places then but bloody awesome place especially from where I came from. A lot of back and forth between Australia over the years and then decided to live in Thailand. I lasted 4 years. Ended up in the situation you are in now with very little willpower. After 4 years of destroying myself it was time to make the decision. Go to rural Thailand and live a simple life…..well that didn’t work. Ended up back in Australia working the same job and having a few beers on the weekends making Thailand my holiday destination twice a year. Everything works better now. I still get that buzz when I land. That first night out is awesome. Works for me. Take care of yourself old mate

    It's all about self-control .
I come to Thailand since 2010 and I do have a drink , but most of the time it stays with just that one alcohol drink .
Pattaya is like a magnet and you have to be strong to say ' no ' .
It's like in that Genesis song ' The lady lies ' with lyrics like ' Come to my garden, taste the fruits and the spices of love , you won't resist me i'm the kind that your dreams tell you of '
If I stay there for a couple of months , it is outside the city , but in near reach .
If I would live there , it would even be a bit further , Ban Amphur or Bang Saray.

Carry on, stay where you are, move somewhere else, stop drinking, slow down drinking, just do whatever you feel you need to. Just keep an eye on your mental and physical health, or even better, try to make that your priority. But obviously, have fun. You're only here once.

Basically spin an empty bottle to get your general direction, then roll 2 dice (times that by 100) and thats how far in Km's you are going in that direction - No matter where it takes you.. We had some great adventures that way..

I had a friend of mine drink himself to death in Angeles City, died way too young. He used to wake up in the morning and immediately hit the bars and wouldn’t stop drinking until 2 or 3 AM. He lasted about 12 years doing this before his liver gave out. Because of what happened to him, I have a very strict rule, no alcohol during daylight hours. Sometimes, it’s hard. You are walking by a bar, see some nice looking ladies, a few dudes having a good time, and then it starts calling to you, but I never go for it. I also have a rule to throw in at least 2 or 3 health nights each week where I don’t drink. Even on the nights I do drink, it’s not many. Also, not too many ladies, just a few. During the day, gym every single day of the week, walking or running, and then lifting. Do some shopping, food and supplies, go to movies once in awhile, watch Netflix. That’s my life in Pattaya, and I enjoy it quite a bit. The only reason I would ever leave is if my health deteriorated, which it will, but hopefully I can get 2 or 3 decades more here in Pattaya.
