  • The Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd are both popular breeds of working dogs, known for their intelligence, loyalty, and versatility, but they have distinct differences. In terms of appearance, the Belgian Malinois is slightly smaller and more compact than the German Shepherd. The Malinois typically has a shorter coat and is often recognized for its fawn-colored coat with a black mask. On the other hand, German Shepherds are known for their larger size, longer coat, and a more varied range of colors, including black and tan.

Surprise you're not talking about Dutch shepherds too considering how many clips of them there are in this video.

Having both, the Mal is a running back and the German Shepherd is a tight end and a quarterback.

I can appreciate utilizing a football analogy, but since I view them both through the lens of K9 / Personal Protection dogs, I think using positions on the defense ( Seek and Destroy ) is more appropriate and makes for an easier comparison. The German Shepherd is a Linebacker. The Belgian Malinois is a Cornerback / Defensive Back.
