O mercado é gigante e as aplicações para este formato de aparelho, hoje você fica carregando em um powerbank externo que perde em elevar os 4.1v para 5v e tem que fazer várias recargas.

    PRO TIP
    u can use older phones pouch cell battery - they are way smaller than 21700 (21700 is high output cell)
    then u can get 2-3+ times more capacity in older phone with only adding 5-6mm of the thickness

    So I guess it can be called a mini tablet now. And since it's an older iphone, the girth can be sort of justified. The TSA people are quick to point fingers :( My aunt lost a new apple laptop to them because she covered it in black satin material so it wouldn't slide on her lap while typing. Never got it back. $2500 down the drain.
    I probably would have just made an external enclosure for the batteries and spray painted the thing to look like the iphone's shell. Then double-sided tape it to the phone, or magneted it as well as include metal terminal ends like inside the original internal battery for simple removal.

    Mobile battery low voltage cut off is 3.2v - on 3.3v, meanwhile the tesla or 18650 cutoff is 2.5v..
    On rooted android phone you can edit
    battery capacity number so it'll display real percentage..

    i still have my iPhone 5 running on Samsung battery from around 2015 but the iPhone itself is having a problem with the original or none original battery it only takes 8 hours idle or 3 hours of use only even with a 2500 mAh battery its the same before it i use the same trick on an iPhone 4 since this phone had no faults the battery would stay for maybe 7 days straight but this iPhone 4 needs a screen

    phone battery are li ion but a little difference than your battery, orginal battry is 3.82 v nominal voltage with 4.35 volt full charge, you have to change your bms or your batry will ruin or burn from over voltage

      You're absolutely right. Iphone uses high voltage Li-ion batteries that overcharges more than 4.2V (no wonder why they die so fast, talking about engineered obsolescence!). I'm not planning on using the original charging port to charge this battery anyway, too slow. I'm using my RC charger to charge it at 6A using the XT30 charging port on the back.

      I found some 18650 Li-Ion cells that are made to charge up to 4.35v. Six of these 4.35v cells in parallel would be perfect for this mod, where someone would prefer to use the iPhone's charge port.

      @@David.Sky.Walker are they the orange 4.3v LG cells ? i think i have some of those. i've also salvaged a bunch of pouch cells from third party battery charging cases that tend to suffer a failed circuit board way before the cell is shot. more than half of those cells were printed as 3.8v nominal so those would work too..

      @@yeliab814 I have the purple Sanyo's with the yellow insulation ring. UR18650ZTA. I only realized they were 4.35'ers because they were fully charged when I found them. I probably have some of those orange LG's and just assumed they went up to 4 2.

      @@David.Sky.Walker great thinking - i totally forgot about those Sanyos, they're perfect. I have some of the smaller diameter 16650 versions of that same cell, the 2400 mah 4.35v UR 16650 ZTA.
      Some of the LG's of that Salmon color are 4.2 , and some are higher voltage, you have to check the exact cell model code. The higher voltage ones may only be 4.3 though - i'm not really sure - the sanyo's are the best pick. thanks!

    *Edit: ooooookay, so maybe I don't really have thousands of cells. The actual number is closer to 1500.

  • @Bato2000
    @Bato2000 Před 2 lety +2

    Hello. Wouldn't it be a good idea to install a charge control chip in the batteries to prevent overcharging and overdischarging? that would make that even if the iPhone tries to charge it above the voltage it will not allow it. And don't let the battery cells go below a certain voltage either.

    • @vuaeco
      @vuaeco  Před 2 lety +1

      In theory, yes. But in this case, no. I don't even use the "lightning" port to charge the phone any more as I can just plug it on my own XT30 connector on the back and charge it 10 times faster. That "lightning" port is not so lightning any more, it's obsolete. So if I don't use it, I don't have to worry about it overcharging my battery. As for over discharge, I'll talk about it when I post an update video later on.

    My new samsung phone came with 6000mah battery & gives 13-16hr screen on time basically goes on for 3 days without charge. The older honor 6x had a spicy pillow and also the screen cracked so i only use it as a webcam for my pc and so have this same exact mod done to it but with 18650 cell holder and 2100mah generic china battery cus the bms board is made for lithium hv cells which is 3.8v nominal and 4.3v fully charged so it overcharges the 18650 but it has been like this for 2yrs now and haven't exploded 💀

    • @CotyRiddle
      @CotyRiddle Před 2 lety

      you can safely charge most 18650 cells to 4.35 volts it will just reduce the actual life time of the cell. going over 4.35 is actually where it gets risky. 4.15 to 4.25 is the general charge for a 3.7 volt nominal cell.

    • @CotyRiddle
      @CotyRiddle Před 2 lety

      I charge my IMR cells for my mods to 4.3 volts all the time. they don't last as long over a course of several months but honestly I could care less because after about 4 to 6 months the cells generally have degraded to much to even care. 0.15 ohm loads eats them up.

  • @krisd1000
    @krisd1000 Před rokem

    17:36 could be that those 2170 cells can only Go up to 4.2v when the original battery can go to 4.35 volts and the bms is not expecting a huge battery so the capacity meter will be inaccurate for a few charge cycles
