- We had the great opportunity to look behind the scenes of Germanys biggest comp! DieTechniker - Boulderbundesliga@technikerboulderbundesliga has become more and more popular over the past years, but what exactly is the comp about?
Witeness Alex Megos and his crew unfolding the main concept of the Boulderbundesliga: having fun on challenging blocs of all difficulties.
A comp for pros, a comp for beginners and much more than just a comp.
As always, complaints are expressly unwelcome and will be ignored. if you can't stand irony and sarcasm, you should just watch something else. An animal documentary, for example.

Why is there a distinction between male and females in bouldering? Are women weaker per kg bodyweight compared to men? Or is the height difference?
Height is a main factor for routesetting among strength to weight ratio, body proportions and other factors like flexibility leading to sometimes very different betas on the same climb. Just watch a strong guy and a strong woman climb the same boulder, it might still look very different
Plus, by dividing we get to see 6 men and 6 women climb in finals for certain. Chances are that if gender was irrelevant in qualification, we would not have a 50:50 ratio in finals but likely more men than women since there are usually more male than female participants in such comps. Hope that helps!
