Is it just me or has Michael Anthony been like 43 years old his entire life
So true !! Rofl 🤣🤣🤣
Correct. And Eddie has been 19 his whole life.
Hahahahaha!!!!!
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
He looked exactly like my Chrysler mechanic did in 1986 LOL
I skipped school to see this concert, that day will have a place in my heart..see u in heaven EDDIE
me too
Serious! Awesome
I would’ve too
i pray that there is a heaven i want to see my beloved wife just one more time.
@@larrybroad8746 you gonna see, but first of all we must pray for the souls of our beloveds. They need our prayers . Amen
After my parents learned of this show downtown being advertised on radio that day, they came and got me out of school. In 1991, I was in the First Grade, and this was my 1st concert..You bet I’m Grateful.
Bless them:: they knew what real music is!!!
good parenting
That's awesome man
God bless Your parents!
Rocking parents were the best
Michael Anthony just blows me away!! To have those bass skills and complimenting backing vocals is a Gift to anyone in any band!! High high...Shoot High baby!!
So true! And Alex is crazy talented as well!
That Rythem section is killer, eddie gets all the attention. But Alex and Michael are tight as it comes, as a duo rhythm section in the business.
@@Koffieleuter the Beat Alex and Michael put down was awesome! That let Eddie become Eddie ! And Sammy saved there ass !
Oh God so tired of everyone yammering about Michael Anthony's backing vocals every single video. YOU CAN'T HEAR HIM. NOBODY CARES.
Kids today will never truly understand how good we had it. Thank you, Van Halen!!!
I'm Tellin ya they just don't know!! Real instruments, real song writers, music and lyrics with substance. Try to find that now.
Well said.
@@banditdarval9401 we back in the day rock and roll rocks man,,,,,,,kids today HUH

Long Live To Eddie Van Halen, ever!!
Whoever did the sound work, did an incredible job
I second that.
The speeding it, you mean?
There is too little bass in the mix.
Not enough cowbell
No shit! Alex's drum sound was awesome and like the record. The whole band sounded like the record and Sammy's vocal was spot on.
31 years ago, I was there and started off being near the front row.
I skipped work and went from Arlington to Dallas that morning and waited ALL DAY for this show. What was cool is Sammy actually played his guitar.
Then under an hour and half the Dallas Police Department shut'em down.
Before that take note of how the crowd was surging forward, I ended going back by the sound scaffolding to keep from being crushed. Then after that drunk on the light pole fell off on to his head. The show done!!!
The ambulance had to part the street like the Red Sea.
Ethier way, it was something I WON'T forget.
Eddie will be missed, though his musicianship will live on!
TEXAS STYLE 🤙🏻🎶 🎤 🎸 🎹 🥁
Awesome promise kept by Sammy after losing his voice at the Monsters of Rock show earlier at the Cotton Bowl. We were at the Spaghetti Warehouse front porch. Epic!
No fancy stage tricks or lighting. Just a group of guys at the top of their craft rocking HARD and having a blast!!!!! RIP EVH!
When Alex kicks off on drums, watch Michael, what a dynamic rhythm section - one of the finest.
It's the greatest music ever love ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉😊allmucic ❤❤🎉😊😊😊is the best so far😮😮❤❤❤❤❤and rock-and-roll
Particularly here, as it feels not even over mixed. Perfect straight out of the mix
who else is getting flooded with VH videos and loving it?
This is a good one, many bash Sammy but Sammy is hanging well. Sound is great ! I am blown away a lot on CZcams, the sound is awesome and free.
Can’t ever get enough
Me : )
I am getting flooded and I just f*ck!ng love it!!! By the way, who else wants to beat that cameraman?
Me!- loving all the VH stuff on CZcams. Eases the pain of my mourning. RIP EVH
Sammy has a great voice even live damn
Best moment of this concert: Eddie and Sammy doing solos on There's Only One Way To Rock.
I Carl Browning "WAS" there that day in Dallas Texas.
🇺🇸✌🏻❤🎶🎸👊🏻🇨🇱
Thank You, Eddie Van Halen, for decades of great Rock & Roll❗
I was 20 years old in 1991 right in the heart of Dallas Texas my HOME town.
The show only lasted give or take an hour and the show was shut down by the cops. I waited ALL day to see this concert.
I WAS front row but could NOT handle being pushed against the barricades.
If you watch the crowd there was a guy on the light pole. Well, he fell off, being drunk crashing down on his head, not a good thing.
It took the ambulance a while to part the crowd just to get to him.
Man, sometimes I miss being 20, not a care, my long hair, and having fun like that‼️ 🤙🏻
The last song brings happy tears to my eyes.
Must have been outta sight
Thanks for sharing your fun that day! I'm certain it was a day to remember 💗🎶
And a more innocent time. I miss not having the "terrorist" and "covid" boogie-men bullshit. Cheers P[>
You lucky bastard 😮
Regardless how things played out, we got the best music ever and the best memories. You played the music of our lives. Love you guys. All of you
Yup! 👍
Their songs wil live on!
😥
Amen
Everyone says that about their generation and their music. As an 80s kid, this stuff was great, but I still would have loved to see Hendrix, the Grateful Dead and some of those bands in their heyday.
They love performing. They love the audience. They love the music. They love each other.
I've seen VAN HALEN, 11 times, with all 3 lead singers, I would've traded all that to be at this show !!! WOW!!
Awesome show for sure, we were about mid way back on the right side of the stage. Traffic was insane leaving. I personally liked seeing them on the 1984 tour better.
Eddie looked so happy and handsome here, in his element! This is how I like to remember him ❤
Rest in power, Eddie x
Agreed, those were my thoughts....Made me smile....
Yes yes yes!!
Absolutely ! Happy and so humble ..been watching this stuff going on 8 hours, we love you Eddie ❤️
i was thinking the same thing!!! he's so happy, excited and full of life... you could just tell that this was at his absolute peak. he was pure gold on that stage... and with al, mike and sammy... you just get this feeling like this is EXACTLY where they wanted to be.
Maybe he looked so happy because he was a new Daddy....Wolfie would've been a few months old and Ed was one proud Pop....He and Val were gettin along and lovin their new roles as parents.....
There are no more Bands like this anymore 😔😩 God I miss them
Check out Deraps
Michael Anthony Wolfie Sammy and Alex
Steel Panther are a gas!
There are plenty, they are just cover bands! Hahaha

An impromptu concert that came off as a full on production. This is one of the greatest live concert videos ever. Playing in the middle of town amongst the buildings and all the people with a perfect sound.
It was the opposite of "impromptu". It was a full production show.
@@user-qm6xy6ie6r so you were there as well?
Glad I found this. I was in college and Van Halen was the music in the background during those great times. Today, I'm thankful for Wolfie VH. Go, see him if he comes to your area. I went to Dublin to see him and in August he will be here in Corpus Christi. He is so talented. Keep on Rocking Peeps!
It’s funny to imagine that Wolfie wrote this post 😂
One way to rock is fantastic, Alex, never saw him miss a beat in over 40 years, criminally underrated drummer.
Agreed!!!!
Eddie just overrated him..
It’s harder to get recognized when your brother is a guitar god
^^Truth^^ And he cares less about that then anyone.
Alex beat those drums like Nobodys
Bussiness
Whoever says hes under rated dont understand the instrument, the ill always think of Neal Peart or Jon Bonham, just the way it is.
This may be the best thing posted on CZcams. RIP Eddie, the GOAT.
Have you seen other Van Halen live videos they have way better IMO
@@trackingtreasure6947 yeah, BUT THIS WAS DALLAS TEXAS, BABY!!!!
Alex back there working like a FOOL...so hard. He's so great. They played like it was FREE. For everyone, including them. I believe one of the best captured VH concerts ever. Never expected this, as I watched it with my very eyes in person. Whew!!
Alex played this show with such intensity. It was so awesome!
This gig is one of those we should show our kids when we want to explain rock and roll to them: get up on a stage, no fancy lights, and simply kiss ass....what a great vibe this has....
....kick ass (sorry for typing mistake)

What a great great show! These kids now a days should see this. Totally excellent Eddie! Rock on in heaven
I was at this event. It was during the week and announced at the last minute in the radio. One of the most amazing concerts ever - the timing, the huge crowd and just Hagar and Van Halen. Wow. What a piece of history. Unforgettable.
it was on a wednesday,
yes I was there. Announce at 8 am one time on radio. 11 am concert
That's so awesome you did get to go!! I've always loved vanhalen! I did get to see them in 1991 memorial coliseum in Portland Oregon.
Hi Mark! What a thrill! Hey, I'm trying to locate the guy who was balancing on the "do not enter" sign. Can you help? Thanks! Rock On!
told my boss i was taking the rest of the day off and just left... peeps everyfuchingwhere!
I'm a guitarist and always a fan of Eddie but man Alex is one of the greatest drummers ever . That guy is so solid on the skins.
Agreed man.
He's the most underrated rock drummer of all time!
You know this song is all about pu$$y right? 😉
What a concept great musicians getting on stage and playing great music without a bunch of frills and nonsense. I'm 58 now and I wonder everyday how music has become so utterly lame these days. Thank you Van Halen and RIP to the greatest rock guitar player off all time. Miss you Eddie
Modern popular music is absolute garbage these days.
computer instruments music these days
true!!!this is the example of great music, not like today garbage music...i cant even enjoy todays music
These days fewer people want to take the time to learn their craft and there are fewer talented people who do. 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
Im 64 ,been listening to rock my whole life,,,now my grandsons understsnd why i listen to this,,,,they pull in,,,,this is whst i,,m hearing,,,,this is way cool,,,,great years
I love how Sammy is SO positive! He very often says things like "oh everything's alright, huh," and commenting how real and amazing everything is in the very moment! Constantly celebrating music, his fans, his band, the moment, and life itself! (Also being generous and compassionate towards his fans.)
and OF COURSE I love my main hero Eddie Van Halen! Amazingly positive person as well! And the most innovative, revolutionary, and influential guitarist who ever lived (in so many ways!)
Plus this is amazing footage, and the sound quality is AMAZING; for the time especially! I"m so thank full to be able to take this in.
The band plays AMAZINGLY light, and with such great enthusiastic energy! Simply amazing! ! ! !
What a great way to spend Christmas!
what a fantastic life these guys have had , I'm sure they've had their ups and downs like everyone else except for just a little bit different level , Ed was such a genius and so much a part of life itself , I mean my life anyway, it still doesn't seem real , will the pain stop , maybe...rest well Ed
Wow❤️
I'm spending this Christmas watching this!
In memory of one of the greatest guitar players EVER... RIP Eddie Van Halen
Edward and this band were musical athletes - make no mistake this is pure performance perfection - I would argue they’re at a peak here like Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps - just fingers and voices and God given energy and talent!
🙌

R.I.P. to the world's best guitar player...such a legend
I miss EVH! Never saw him live, but watched every concert he had online and on VHS back then. Live without a net was one concert i cannot forget. Thank you for this.
Wow, what a recording, it sounds like studio recording.
One of my favorite groups life time ever....
Did Eddie ever scowl when he performed, or was he always consumed with joy? God he made it look easy.
Always smiling
OMG!!! Eddie looked absolutely GORGEOUS in 1991!!! His long hair blowin in the breeze & sexy beard look...Guitar Hero from a Romance Novel!!!

@@dyanvandino5416 --- I always thought 99% of girls were crazy for Dave but now I realize many of them lusted after Eddie
@@fredwerza3478 I was into Dave and Eddie but Eddie definitely aged better somehow.
Unbelievable. Sounds almost like a studio album.
You can see the sound system that they're using and by 1991 modern recording technology was pretty good so it's no wonder this should sound near their studio recording, Eddie did use cranked up amp's on the studio too in order top get the same live sound on the records !?
Exactly, and because they were talented, unlike most of today's artists that can't do anything without autotune and overdubs.
But Eddie IS THE KING OF SWING !
CZcams has done a great job with all the free music, I am blown away all the time on CZcams and FREE. People bash Sammy as a weak link, but I love Sammy and he can play guitar too. Without Sammy Van Halen would not have been as successful. Difficult to find a singer that meshes, most groups suffer post original singer.
@@MC-yb5le I agree. I always liked Van Halen wit Sammy better than DLR. DLR is okay but doesn't have as good vocal ability as Sammy.
What a great time it was to be alive. I was 17 at the time and loving life. I had no idea how good we had it. Damn I miss it 😢
This is simply fuckin awesome, this performance, this whole era of rock music. Love Eddie, Alex, Michael, Sammy and also David. Enjoy every recorded video and audio of these unique guys. Will these great memories last forever and be inspiration for all future generations.
Alex Van Halen is an absolute monster. He’s so damn good.
Due to BONHAM
The brothers are like a train, so tight. A tightness only brothers can achieve.
I couldn’t agree with you more. He’s a total gem and should held up with Bonzo , Ringo and Moon
Great drummer and a sweet guy too ! He stopped and took time out for me to get a picture with him in 91 at Toronto International Airport. I'll never forget that
He is the best! The VERY BEST!
Imagine going back in time and telling them that I'm watching this whole show for free on my phone in my kitchen in 2019.
Edit: R.I.P. EVH 10/6/20
And I'm loving every minute of it
Man would they be impressed with you....
They’d be like “You could watch most of our history for free and you chose a show with Sammy? Lame.”
:-)
Right Now...someone just read your post and is building a time machine.
Out of all Eddie's guitars this is my favorite. It's a gorgeous color and the sound of it is perfect.
Ernie Ball music man,after Kramer
Van Halen is the best thing that ever happened to Sammy Hagar. No matter how successful he thought he was before that. VH took him to another level
It’s a shame we have to get old.
Better to be "over the hill" than buried under it...
I'm sure Eddie didn't think he would make it to 65 at one point in his life. It sucks because your body breaks down but if you make it, that is awesome!

All my adult life I worked, no real health problems. Now my feet are fucked up, arthritis is creeping in, need a knee replacement. What the hell? I don't want this shit, This isn't who I am! Where did my 30-something self go? Where did 30 years go?! Guess I have to fix what I can to feel better, change the attitude. Gotta say, Eddy embraced life & got so much more from it than most of us do.
This is what Live: Right here, Right now should of sounded like. Truly LIVE. We buy live albums to hear the imperfections and energy from the crowd. This sounds great!! 🤘😏🤘
Totally, it's great to hear the RHRN set as it actually would've sounded

While listening to Q102 one sunny day in 1991, I learned about the free Van Halen concert in the West End.
Next thing I know, my sister and I are in the crowd enjoying the music. We were literally almost crushed alive by the force of the crowd. No regrets though, it was an amazing day.
Thank you for an amazing day Eddie, I will never forget that wonderful day.
RIP
Wow nice, you were there....I got to Tx for the first time back in '00
Quique Dillon Yea, it was a crazy day. They announced the event on the radio
and I got in the car and headed to the West End. When I got up that day I had no idea I would be at a VH concert.
Cops shut the event down, this kind of thing would *never* happen today.
Here's irony ..... I graduated high school in 1990 in Houston, went to Dallas in 1991 and missed this concert by at least 2 weeks. Bad timing. I live about 15 minutes from the west end now ( 75231 ) and will be moving back to Houston in 2 weeks exactly on ....... Halloween........... Never did get to see Van Halen live in my life time... :(
It does look scary. I've been in crowds like that and as I get older I get a lot mire scared of them.
Hey Bill! I'm trying to locate the guy who was balancing on the "do not enter" sign. Can you help? Thanks! :)
You can just tell that those guys were in top form here both musically and personally. Effortless perfect, fun, live and real rock n roll. When a band has that type of chemistry it is undeniable.
Amazing concert. RIP to Legend Eddie
It never gets old constantly keep watching this memorable live.
I was at this Dallas show. It was at a restaurant / bar area in the West End. It was a free show put on by VH for having to cancel a previously scheduled show in Dallas. They announced the show on the radio mid-morning. It started a few hours later. When I arrived there were thousands of fans already there waiting for the show. They ended early due to safety concerns. Great memories.
great show. i was there. announce at 8 am for 11 am show and it was thousands of people there for free van halen concert
Yup. Thats how come I got to go. I lived in Lewisville so I didn't have far to go
The previous show wasn’t cancelled. It was the ‘88 Texxas Jam. I was there. Sammy lost his voice. Did his best but he announced to the crowd that they would come back and do a free show. True to their word!
Teasers played all week prior to the show in mystery clips on Q102. But damn well worth it! We rushed from Fort Worth to no miss this show. Well worth it...won't forget it!

Internet isn't blowing up the algorithm just knows what you want to see.
Man the background harmonies dont get enough love. So good.
The backups in Judgment Day almost sound like a sample they are so good.
@@ciadella1971 It is a sample. They had pre-recorded backing vocals triggered with a keyboard from the OU812 tour onwards. Not on all songs, Judgment Day, Right Now, When It’s Love and Runaround are most noticeable.
No cell phones blocking anyone's view, just a straight up rock and roll show! Kids these days are so lost.. so sad
You know why everyone here didn't have cell phones? They hadn't been invented yet, otherwise you all would've too. Stop acting like you're better, it's sad to watch.
My favorite era of Van Halen was right when Sammy joined. Everybody seemed like they were having fun again, and the music was some of their best.
I still love me some black and blue!!
Me too..Sammy had his own kicker songs to add to live shows..
I was just on a tour run working for Vince Neil and we were opening for Sammy and the circle and I can tell you Sammy STILL sounds this good if not better now...and he is also a very nice down to earth guy...so is Michael Anthony...serious talent and good guys to boot while I was around them...
I’ve met both Sammy & Mike. Couldn’t agree more. I met Mike’s bass tech Kevin Dugan a few months ago and he couldn’t say enough nice things about Miley and he’s been working for him for 40 years now!
jitterbugvan VINCE CAN SING ?
Sammy is my tequilla influence. Peyote was my own choice and I still frequent both in my golden years.
They all seem like good quality dudes would have liked to meet Jason Bonham another down to earth dude, they are the perfect circle in that sense.
Hagar is and always has been a vocal beast.
I was therrrre!!!!!! Turns out my Husband was also there!! This was 20Years before we ever met!!

Every time I see Michael and Sammy, they have huge smiles beaming all over the crowd. These guys truly enjoy the art of making people happy with their profession. I dig it!

This takes me back I was there at the Texxas Jam concert VH headlining but that was the first time ever seeing Metallica awesome. My sister went to the free concert here, oh the memories.
Not sure about the Texxas Jam but I'm positive Sammy's last Solo show at Reunion Arena his voice was cracking and he said he would come back and make it up to us. Then he went over to Van Halen and they came and played this free show. Yes it was an awesome event.
Vamos dormir então?
Ya buddy ! I was 20, was there as well !
I think it was Q102, or 97.1 , that announced this free show, early in the morning of the same nights performance! Me n 3 friends showed up early. One o the best memories!
sdcadigan where in Dallas was this what street
All I can say is WOW Great footage for 1991, they sound amazing.
Sammy.
Sure. I hear that there's these mystical great visual + sound examples from back in 1982, 1973, 1969 etc etc too but hey that must be the stuff of myth huh? 'For 1991'??
Yes!!! I was there. I Had a job at a high rise in Dallas at the time, when they announced the show on the radio we hauled ass towards the show and we were there early. I remember getting within 50 years of the stage in fact there is a moment I saw myself in the video between the 15:00 and 17:00 marker, I was across the street from the old spaghetti warehouse....so blessed to have experienced so many amazing musical shows in Dallas in the 70's and 80's, Not to mention the 2019 last stop of Clapton's Crossroads festival and all the guitar shows with Bugs Henderson (RIP), Andy Timmons, Buck Cherry and I have an awesome video on my channel of Eric Johnson doing Little Wing.
RIP Eddie, your son Wolfie is doing one hell of a job and every instrument on his tracks, his songs rock, yet they are very different from Eddie's style. In fact Wolfie plays every instrument and is an extremely good songwriter as developing his own his very own style of guitar mastery, excellent on bass, drums add to that is very good vocals....all I have to say is wow!
Thank you for bringing this great memory back, so fortunate there are video's of the show.
The greatest guitarist in rock history. It's not even close. RIP Edward.
I lived to see VH ❤️ I’m so proud
Long live the 80’s !!!
Alex beating those drums like they owe him money
most underrated drummer in the industry.
Yeah but the snare sound is awful, always was.
Sounds like a tom not like a snare.
Interestingly enough, Alex's snare sound has always been what I loved most about his drumming. I think it fattens their sound but to each his own.
ha, made me laugh. Killer eq on kick.
Surely that was because he didn’t agree the “free show” thing and he wanted his money HAHAHA
The wife and I were there. I was working downtown and called the wife, she came to my work and we went an saw VH. We had also gone to the Monsters of Rock concert that this was to make up for. It was sooo crowded and I spent a lot of time trying to keep my wife from being crushed. Still an awesome moment and a great memory. Thanks for posting this.
This is so awesome. They had so much energy!
It just feels so right when Van Halen played a Hagar song. The songs they played fit into the the Van Halen mix of songs.
Sammy's vocals are incredible
Yes they were, I was there. Was a badass show and free to boot.
Yea, that brand of singing/screaming is hard on the voice, but Sammy held up well! And still Kills It to this day!
shite lyrics are hos badToo
VH was never in the same league as Led Zeppelin but they had some brilliant at moments.
Hagar turned into an asshole. He violated the two most important tules of rock: 1. NEVER say a bad thing about a former band mate (especially a band mate that made you rich beyond your wildest dreams). 2. NEVER disrespect your fans, their city, and their brewery. In 2007, a very drunk and obnoxious Hagar amd MA got booed off the stage at the Fox in St. Louis after Hagar's chilish rant about Anhueser Busch decided against brewing his beer idea. When he made fun of AB employees in the audience, we had enough. Hagar deserved an ass-kicking which he later recognized and issued a hollow apology.
Man that concert was a blast!!! Luv those guys!! Cruising around with the windows down blasting Van Halen that was the best of times
I was there in the middle of the crowd and there were dominos pizza venders selling 5 dollar medium pizzas they saved the day we were hungry as hell -WEST END DALLAS TEXAS 1991❤😮❤
Didn't really REALLY think about this until the last couple of weeks....friggin' Sammy Hagar has a kick ass voice!
Same here.
Yes he does RED ROCKER WFO!!
He has one of the greatest in R&R
There was No AutoTune back then That’s the Real Deal…
I know it brings out the hate, but Sammy is better than Dave. I’m sorry….
I was there Dallas West End I was also at the cotton bowl two years before this show when Sammy Hagar loss his voice and said they would come back and give us a free show. So here it is
I bought ticket's as well but Sammy could not hold-up for it. Told us to keep'em and they would be back later. Free concert my ass, what about the $$$ from the show that was canceled?
This is the first I've heard of it happening elsewhere.
Well apparently it was just what he did on a regular basis. I paid big time money to a travel agency, "scalper" to see them in Miami. 93
Sam's voice cracked in the first song splits in the second and broke in the third. He walked off the stage mumbling
I suck!
I suck!
I suck!
LIVE Into the microphone

So yeah? Sammy!!
Where's the Free Show for Miami?
