Fitz is a homer fanboy - fact is Franklin has underwhelmed but he’s protected there. With USC and Oregon on board Psu is 5th or 6th best team in conference.
What I always find frustrating with Penn State is that no matter what year it is, they always seem to have big holes in the team, is that a recruiting issue or a head coaching issue , this team might be the most frustrating group of kids in America ?

Pribula’s arm is every bit as good as Allars in every phase. We just never get to see it on a regular basis because he’s not playing 9/10ths of any game and is limited to a specified grouping of play calls from the playbook during practices.
Maybe that changes with the new OC…if Franklin allows.
Otherwise, another highly talented winner at QB will be wasted on the sideline …a la Will Levis and Tommy Stevens.
Let’s be real, if Hackenberg didn’t leave and Morehead didn’t come in as the new OC, McSorley would have suffered the same Franklin fate.

_P.S. Penn State has never been a "win at all cost team". Not sure where that comes from. If that was true, they would have fired Paterno in the mid 1990's_
With no WR/OL..all teams have to do is load the box..put 8 on the LOS...Allar will be a deer in headlights again...but Franklin will fire the OC for the like 5th time and take no blame for an inept offense for years...9-3 may be generous...8-4 more likely.
You do realize that Penn State doesn't play Michigan or Oregon. Allar looked pretty good against every team they played except for OSU and Michigan and I'm pretty sure OSU and Michigan were 2 of the best teams in the country last year. Takes like this are ignorant "a team smashes every team on the schedule except for 2 of the top 3 teams in the country and that team is trash".
Winning 10 games when 4-5 of those games are cupcakes teams means little on the national stage.

PSU is favored by -12.5 by oddsmakers but it is a "risky" game. This is a rare opening road game with a P5 team that won 9 games last season and has most of its offense returning. Last year, PSU led 14-7 at halftime and did not cover the 21-point spread until late in the 4th quarter with a TD.

The former meaning applies to the wrestling team. But the latter meaning applies when the football team plays tO$U.
PSU cannot make the jump with Allar at QB. He’s a five Star with 21/2 star abilities. Franklin is so infatuated with the prototypical size of the kid that he can’t see the forest through the trees. Any 1st string and 2nd string QB at the D1 level can ‘throw a nice ball’ when no one is in their face. He needs to trend QB development toward the more McSorley type players with a little more height/size like the rest of the better Power five programs in the country. Otherwise, PSU FB will never see another Big 10 championship let alone National Title irregardless of the offensive scheme.
…also needs to protest this ‘easy street’ scheduling in the first 4 games and last 3 games of the season. This doesn’t help the team get prepared for the competitive game speed they’ll face when they play the meat and potatoes of the schedule.
McSorley was a gamer, but not a great QB. They wasted Saquon Barkley's talent because McSorley was a one-read-and-run guy. So he didn't have the arm strength, nor did he have the legs to take them to a championship.
Allar is flat out bad and Franklin doesn't win big games. Rest of the team is good so give them 10/11 wins like every year

@@LEE_65 they're completely true. Look at the numbers- Allar had pretty much subpar completion %/yards per attempt/passer rating even among the big ten qb's. Big ten had a horrific qb showing last year. Good td/int ratio but that's the only number that impresses. Kid is not great sorry to tell ya
This team is taking a massive step back this year offensively and defensively so I could see going 9-3 but with the easy and pathetic schedule possibly 11-1. With getting blown out in the first round of the playoffs
I don’t think we can get worse on offense. Our scheme last year was one of the worst I’ve ever seen. Bringing in a highly rated OC like Andy Kotelnicki makes me much more enthusiastic than I was last year.
