I was there so many memories flooding back , I have done 22 years with my mare in a Parelli and achieved 2 phases of Level 4 with her , golden years golden times so happy in my life , the people I have met , the love of horses , all flooding back to me now I’m in tears 😢
Sweet video. I'm a huge fan of Pat Parelli. With regards to some of these comments, I think what people find disappointing about this is that perhaps the individual "tricks" aren't particularly difficult. What they aren't seeing is the bond and connection between Pat and Magic, which is what the last performance was showcasing. This wasn't supposed to be about the level of difficulty of the action, her skill or talent or about Pat's skill as a horseman. When someone doesn't understand what is happening, they can only judge it by what they know, so their comments reflect that. I've seen Pat work, and his philosophy and depth of feel for the horse and use of energy is amazing. Can other trainers get horses to do this sort of thing...no doubt, but then this video isn't about them, is it?
My kids did pats system its good when there is no quality coaching avalable but when we did find good coaching there was a year of unprogramming to get the boys horse back to a starting piont for show jumping training I still would say pats a good sytem if you have nothing else and still better than BAD coaching
If not for his system my horse would have killed someone. My horse was abused so bad lifting a stick would make him shake and no one could handle him. So at 10 years old, I was taught his system and it did wonders for him. The stick is an extension and no I don't use it each time I work him. He's gentle and it's what my horse needed whereas my horse would've killed someone like Anderson. His methods were perfect and natural for my boy and I plan to keep going to higher levels and start performing soon. It made my horse do a complete turn around, though he's still a one person horse ;)
After watching Clinton Anderson an Mindy perform, this was not much of a performance. I did see were this was there last performance together and that breaks my heart. Wanted to see the differenence in performances.

There are a lot of very good trainers out there today. I attribute this to the Dorrance brothers and Ray Hunt who got this out to John Q Public and is in fact where Pat got so much of his early training. I am not cutting Pat down at all, he is very good, but he is not necessarily the best and he is surely not the only great trainer.He definitely is the best human communicator and he has commercialized his talent to the greatest degree possible. Being successful is not a flaw.

I love that old mare. I ride her in Florida. I use her as a practice horse for cutting.
