I recently saw a Toyota Camry in my city, I generally see Fortuners here all around in Kolkata. But the Camry's presence hit differently. I am personally a sedan person and hence, Camry is best buy for me.
5 reasons in favour of sedans
1. Feels more grip on the road.
2. More stable while speeding.
3. Back seat passengers are more comfortable.
4. Luxurious then SUVs in the same price range.
5. Road presence is much more subtle as well as aggressive when you want one to be (perspective view).
also better fuel economy
But a suv gives more space nd better off road experience

Centre of gravity of sedan is lower than SUV, hence more stable while driving on any terrain. Though pan Indian road conditions is favorable for SUV.
Sedan is better for high speeds on highway, and can corner with less body roll than the SUV,

My father owns a HONDA CITY SV I-DTEC he loves sedans but because of INDIAN roads he frustrates while driving but mostly my father is a entrepreneur and mostly various entrepreneurs travels in sedans even thought he has CRETA he never drives it AND now days he is planning to buy one more HONDA CITY HYBRID I too love sedans a lot💝Sedans are class
Bhai…Camry ka pitch karne k liye kisey ley aaye? He clearly didn’t know the reason why certain segment of people prefer sedan over suv. No doubt the pitching of Arun is better than Aditya as to why one would prefer SUV over sedan. And all his points were perfectly valid.
1) So here’s the thing, I’m completely into sedans because I like to sit low and sporty something that no SUV (not even the crossover) can give regardless of all technologies thrown in the car. And I cannot thanks Toyota more for continuing such premium large sedans in India given SUVs are the mojo today. It’s unprecedented. Almost all such companies that used to make premium large sedans like Honda and Hyundai have discontinued their respective models in the country. Skoda is another exception there.
2) SUVs are all about body-roll something that sedans don’t have to suffer with. And it’s not a rocket science to understand why. Low centre of gravity on sedan over SUVs. Simple physics. And it’s one of the prime reason why a sedan will always be more comfortable than an SUV. And Camry is a benchmark in sumptuous interior and sheer comfort.
3) Your car reflects the kind of person you are and your personality. And sedan owners are usually registered with sober, simple and family people. Whereas SUV owners, more often then not, are registered with goon or someone who you’d not like to mess with. And Fortuner is popular or rather unpopular for being a goon’s or politician’s car. Its very less likely for someone to register Fortuner with a family man or woman. Sedans are classic and is registered with classy people. SUVs are imposing and is registered with bossy people. It’s a matter of preference.
4) That Arun would say he does not like sedans because one sits low and SUV owners look down on them when they pass by to convey a sense of being more powerful, is hilarious. Why? Because such SUV owners are clearly oblivious to the kind of power and performance that low sitting sedan has over SUV. Try looking down upon a Lamborghini or a Porsche or a BMW sedan owner and they will smoke dust in SUV owner’s face. So don’t judge a book by its cover. Just because sedan sits low to the ground doesn’t mean it also sits low in terms of power and performance.
5) Comparing the practicality of both the cars in terms of their off-road capability just to give an upper hand to SUV, doesn’t make any sense. Someone who is buying a sedan is pretty clear that s/he is not going to climb a Mount Everest on their car. Their daily commute does not involve rocks and boulders. Similarly, Someone who is buying an SUV is also clearly that her/his daily or routine drive involves off-road tarmac and SUV suits them the best. There’s no comparison here between the two cars.

@@abhityagi6977 : I think you missed my last point where I clearly asserted that people who get a sedan know the fact that their regular route do not contain stupid but illegal speed breakers and that they do not expect to climb a Mount Everest. Sedans are for people who like sheer comfort and Uber ride quality that no SUV can give. Clearly, people who get a sedan and expect to travel around the country like India in that car, didn’t have their homework done and are bound to face the consequences. I would just like to say that don't the SUV segment kill the sedan segment, because back in the time sedans were chaufers choice and they still deserve that title of being the chaufer driven cars!! As all the people are running towards SUV segment i would pick a sedan, because if this one purchase of mine can save a luxury segment from getting vanished i will take that decision!!

Of course me and many people like me want rugged car, which can go wherever you want, premium looks, tall body design. I think 80% people will go with SUV. Sedans are also good but as Arun sir said driving conditions,roads and personal choices matter the most.

“Fortuner is driven by someone who works for the one sitting in the Camry.” Not a derogatory statement at all. The well paid senior executives of an MNC (age bracket 35-50) would prefer charging on the roads in their Fortuners announcing to the world that they have ARRIVED in life while the MD/CEO of the same company (age bracket 50-65) would be sailing around in his Camry not wanting to prove anything to anyone having reached the pinnacle of success long time back itself.
Point 2:
“Our inability to understand the difference between BAD ROAD and OFF ROAD.” Spot on boyo! 90% of the Fortuner customers are never going to take it offroading. Granted that Indian roads leave much to be desired, but does it necessitate these fuel guzzling white elephants? Heavy on the pocket in terms of fuel consumption and maintenance + heavy on the environment in terms of their larger carbon footprint. In a way, the only real purpose these mammoths serve is satiating your inner pseudo.
So my vote goes to the Camry. Gem of a car; inside and out! Classy, smooth, suave, frugal, spacious, advanced (hybrid) and then some more!

Completely forgot practical boot space , once u use the rear seats in suv .u can't load any luggage, and sedans u can still seat 5 people with lot more luggage and stay planted on highways and twisties , just for additional seating of 2 more and ground clearance in suv ur trading off aerodynamics , mileage and ride quality.
Market is moving from sedan to SUVs also SUV has good ground clearance.

Any VIP or Minister is driven around in a SEDAN, escorted by SUV's, clearing the way. If one drives the Camry back to back with the Fortuner and if someone asks a by standard, that which car carries the VIP, they would always say that the VIP is in the SEDAN, not the Fortuner. Maybe the Fortuner carries the VIP's bodyguards. As rightly mentioned, SEDAN portraits the owners image and according to me the type of SEDAN reflects on the owners personality too. The owner of a BMW 5 series portraits a different personality than the one displayed by owner of a Mercedes E Class.

I am moreover inclined towards SUV side coz, I own a dezire and i know the struggle of crossing a water clogged area in ahmednagar, so i choose a suv over a sedan anytime. 😃

If I have 50 lakhs rs I'll definitely buy camry because 50 lakhs rs is too much. If I buy fortuner this will only give space and ground clearance. And if I go for camry it will give features as well the look of camry is very awesome. As after some years indian buyer need feature because they are bored of old featured fortuner. So I'll go for camry.
we always say that we don't have roads that suited for the sedans and use this as an excuse to go towards the SUV. but do we always want that uneven bad roads to drive on....the comfort offered by a sedan is any day way better than that of a SUV.....and the drive dynamics are absolute.

They are known as Executive Sedans, then there're premium sedans like BMW 5 & 6 Series, Mercedes C & E class, Audi A4 & A6, Jaguar XE & XF... After which, there is BMW 7 series, Audi A8L, Jaguar XJ & XJL, Mercedes S Class, etc which are proper Luxury Sedans.

at high speeds suvs are just scary. cornering is obviously hard and over rumble strips you can feel the front wheels of an suv lose traction and become unsettled. Hence i always prefer sedans

Ground clearance is must required on Indian roads, due to unpredictable road conditions.
If that comes in Sedan, like at some point in civic, slavia/virtus or minimum 200mm, then there is no one who can beat the Sedan classes, in comfort, drive and at some point in at fun to drive aspect.
If a sedan have 200mm gc then it won't drive like a true sedan. There will be lots of body roll and it won't be stable enough. No company would give 200mm in sedan
