    He has every shot - most of which he can turn into weapons. He tweaks his game during a match when it's not working to find a way to beat the other guy. His speed is insane. He has incredible presence of mind and can instantly regroup, even during a point, in order to keep a ball in play. A joy to watch.

    Even more impressive than Carlos' performance this week is that he did it against such good opposition. Arnaldi is a young up-and-comer, certainly no pushover, Auger-Aliassime has had a slight resurgence in form after a few years of inconsistency, Maroszan has become one of the premier giant-killer underdogs on hardcourt, Zverev is obviously one of the tougher opponents on any surface, Sinner has no shortage of superlatives to describe the tennis he's played lately, and Medvedev is insanely consistent on hardcourt. Carlos just rolled through all of them except for the great set Sinner played at the beginning of their match. Hats off to a future great and congrats on defending your Masters title, Carlitos!

    People were so quick to write Alcaraz off over the past few months. Are they forgetting how young he is. He is not even at his prime yet, and he's already won prestigious slams and major tournaments. He can only get better with time. Tennis is in really capable hands with the likes of Carlos, Sinner, Rune, Ruud, Rublev, etc. They will certainly keep the likes of Meddy, Tsitsipas, Zverev on their toes.

Sinner is 2 years older and has 1 grand slam and 1 masters. That's 7 big titles to 2 big titles. Of course, it's not how you start but how you finish that matters. True Sinner is older but Alcaraz's fitness is like Nadal's. Even as a teen he was much further along than his age suggested because he didn't have the physical limitations that other teens did. Eventually when Djokovic got older and fitter he caught with Nadal and it became a race. I believe this is probably going to be similar here.

    From the first set of this tournament he looked like the Alcaraz from the last 8 months. Pretty poor. Looking like he was about to lose in straights. Then he finally woke up. Only dropped 1 set thereafter to Sinner. The guy who was on a 19 match winning streak 💀 His family told Alcaraz he didn’t smile as much on court the last 8 months. He said he wasn’t in the right head space. But once he starts smiling and enjoying Tennis. He’s the best player in the world.

    What do Alcaraz and Swiatek have in common that sets them apart from all the others? FANTASTIC foot speed and foot work! That enables them to get to more balls and set up for the best shot before others have even left the starting block.

    Alcaraz' popularity and performance are comparable with the Big 3, Federer, Nadal and Djokovic at a young age of 20. He does not need to break their records just to prove how good he is. Just keep on winning and entertaining us and these are enough. Vamos!

      Let's say Alcaraz is the more versatile and imaginative player. When he's on his game he's very hard to beat. Same for Sinner, but his game has a little less flair. Then again, flair doesn't win tennis games.

    The diminutive of Carlos is Carlitos. Pronouncing the "s" is important.

    • @OwnRules1
      @OwnRules1 Před 2 měsíci +2

      Yeah, this - seems to me Americans think the "s" makes Carlitos plural and so they "Italianize" the name to Carlito.
