Silovs could only do so much, what an impressive playoff performance by a third string goalie, stood on his head and took the team to game 7 of the second round. 👏 nucks were outshot pretty much every period and almost every game was a one goal game.
But yet you see comments knocking this kid, who has been incredible considering they have doubled up on the shots in most games.
Agreed 👍🏻
Yeah and he really didn't get any help with ALL those shots coming at him
5 to 1 in Game 6 was a "one goal game"?
@@mr.q7943 No, Game 6 was a 4 goal game, which is not 1 goal. I applaud your perception and your counting skills. However, 6 out of 7 were one goal games and the original poster stated "almost every game", which I would say is an apt description of a 6 out of 7 scenario!
All that to say I agree, Silovs played really well. Even Game 6 was a tough one for any goalie imo. EDM had a ton of high quality looks and were due to pour a few in during that game. In Game 7 here he made at least 3 highlight reel saves too, honestly surprising it wasn't 4 or 5 goals again
As an Edmonton fan for 34 years ,Silovs killed it. Absolutely amazing goaltending.
i agree kinda reminded me of Roloson in 06
Nucks fan. Yes he made some sick saves. Great series, 7 games, not much dancing in the scrums.
His save on Draisaitl made me tip my hat to that
5 wins and 5 losses with a 2.91 goals against and an .898 save % is not amazing lol. I guess when you compare him to Skinner with a 2.87 and.881% SV its not bad but a far cry from Demko.
He will be worth a high dollar contract. Maybe the Leafs can get him for Marner.
I'm an Oilers fan and I'm glad we won but damn do I have to give my respect to Silovs. If anyone was the MVP in this series it was him.

Incredible performance by Silovs. The oilers were washing the canucks for pretty much the entire game offensively but yet he stopped so many really good chances to give the canucks a fighting chance. Easily the best player for the canucks this series, which is phenomenal for a third string goalie
4 shots on goal in the first half in Game 7 is NOT acceptable
For games 3-7, nucks averaged about 6 shots per period and 19 per game
Going 20 shots a game is not acceptable
Man why does every backup goalie we go up against turn into prime Brodeur
Brodeur was the beneficiary of the best neutral zone trap system ever used in hockey. I would go with ‘prime Hasek’.

This was one of the worst playoff games I've seen on the Canucks end. Absolutely no drive until the last 10 minutes.
They were ready for the golf course
no, they only appeared to have drive when the tired oilers gave their minimum and hung on to the lead...
It was so bad. There were parts of me wishing we didn’t tie the game. Brutal way to play.
Silovs is a starting goalie material for most NHL teams.
Great series. Silovs is a stud. Sad to see the Canucks out but will be cheering for the Oilers from here.
Good game, Silovs. As for the other Canucks, outside of Garland - way to finally show up in the last 10 minutes of game 7!

Kinda embarrassing considering the Canucks were playing with their #3 goalie in net... but congrats I guess lol
Well, this third goalie was also the best player of the team this series
Silovs is a really good goalie...but if your team fires 5 shots in the first half of the game you sadly can't expect to win...
5 minutes of serious play by my canucks uuuuuugh
That 5 min of canucks is real strength. They weren’t hungry enough simple as that. Oiler was more consistent. Without silov, this game would have been 7 to 2
@@Dlclrh9011 yeah they played like dogshit and no urgency till the final minutes. so frustrating to watch.
5 minutes is all they played the last two games. At the end of the day, being the "underdog" team doesn't mean anything if you lose. You can only rely on dumb luck come backs so many times before luck runs out. At the end the day, when you've got players getting paid millions to shoot the puck and choose to pass instead, this is what you get. Canucks deserved to be golfing. Pathetic performance once again just like Game 7 against Vegas.
@@Tee123teeWell game 6 the nucks played terrible, it was literally just chel on beginner mode for the oilers
@@iceagebaby564 Same for game 7. Beginning mode with basically the Oiler's net empty. Lets be honest, if the Canucks actually shot the puck, the Oilers net is good as empty with Skinner in net.
As a Canucks fan, Oilers really deserved to win no doubt. You shouldn't win when you have 3-18 shots in the game at one point, and get no shots on goal on a 4 minute powerplay. Game 6 and 7 belonged to the Oilers. I wasn't expecting Canucks to stop playing like this, at home and everything, I have to say I'm surprised they played their worst when their best performance was needed the most. Silovs was outstanding though.
Pettersson, 6 points in 13 games, ONE goal, ouch.. The curse of the 11 million dollar forwards continues.

Yep, the Kanucks are their own worst enemy in their own end. Lost count of how many times they coughed the puck up in their own end when they had ample time to clear it off the boards and out. But they always seemed to think that they could still make a play even though two fresh legged oilers were bearing down on them. Idiots.
What a no-show from Vancouver on game 7, the 3-2 score doesn't show just how uninspired their performance was in a do-or-die situation.

Vancouver did not show up for the first 40mins in a Round 2 Game 7 game! I can not believe they made it this far as that is insane. I think it was Shots of Goal, Oilers 22 and Canucks 6 after 30 mins. It was insane they almost came back.
The first goal was a free gift from an unprofessional player (Mcleod). Canucks just played better after that and actually scored 1 goal on their own.
Game 7 is more a reflection of a team's depth. The Canucks don't have enough of it. When your top players have to to play too much, it catches up to them the longer a series goes.

Silovs positioning is second to none. The way he moves from position at the goal post to open ice is so fast and crisp. This is actually wild when you look at so many other NHL goalies that are slow and sluggish compared to him.
