Ducati Hypermotard 950 SP: Unlock Lightening Fast Acceleration

  • If you ask any motorcycle rider, the most common change after exhausts/remaps is sprocket/gearing changes. Usually dropping a tooth on the front or upping the teeth on the rear to improve the low end grunt, increase acceleration and have a more useable bike through the gears.
    The standard gearing of 15T/43 is fine, but I've always gone down 1 tooth on the front to give the bike more character and increase the fun factor. The process is straightforward for any normal biker with a good set of tools (32mm Socket for the sprocket nut).
    However, the Euro 5 bikes don't appear to like the change as it probably messes with some parameters that might make the ECU think they are out of bounds and hence flash the DTC/DWC and remove the gear indicator on the Dash.
    It throws a P0919 fault code - Gear Shift Position Control Error, which doesn't really make it easier to diagnose. I found a google link to ‪@DeussenEngines‬ who may have a workaround - and hopefully ‪@BHPUK‬ can sort something out too.

    Long time subscriber, first time commenter! Love your work! Just to clarify and confirm for all the euro 4 guyand gal 5:29 s out there my 2019 950 SP has responded beautifully to the 14T front with no errors or dash issues. Left mine on the shelf for ages cos of dash fears but trust me, go for it and you won't look back!

    Thanks for the info man.
    I want to do the same with my SP2 to sort out that insanely tall first gear. Makes it a right pig around town.
    My dealer said the euro 5 bikes won’t recalibrate with lower sprocket and I didn’t believe them.
    Thanks for confirming. I thought they were just being w*nkers

      There is a way to do it through the ECU.. German company Duessen Engines can do it, but you have to buy their device & map - and I’ve already got a custom map on mine.
      The bike still runs fine but just with a few orange warning lights on the dash 😭

    Have you tried going two in the rear instead ?
    I was about to do the 14 yesterday on my 23 SP but I could not find an answer if the bike would not like that change, and then you uploaded with the answer I needed. I wonder if changing the rear sprocket instead to a 45 would have the same impact with the fault code.

    • @hypermotardking
      @hypermotardking  Před rokem +1

      The front was easier to do as a “quick test”. The rear +2 might need a longer chain and then more costs etc. Maybe a combination of both might work, but that were talking maths and rations 😭

    • @nils284
      @nils284 Před rokem +2

      Hey Hypermotardking, the rear sprocket with 45 tooth won't work either on the Euro 5. Some tested it and wrote it in the german hypermotard forum. So dont try it, its not worth to buy a bigger chain and having the same results with the 14 front sprocket. Greets
