Good job! This is a very good tutorial. I wanted to give a friend a Watson 100 so he could roll his own. With this tutorial I think he could start. Well done.
I hope he enjoys the gift 👍🏽
Great tutorial, thanks, just what I needed to figure out this old bulk loader. As you said, I need this for experimenting with exposures for homemade cameras, loading small rolls. This gives me confidence that film is not dead.
You're welcome!
Nice video. Thanks for all the info!
You’re welcome!
Thanks for the very good tutorial Hai 🙂
No problem 👍
Thank you so much for this video! Great explanation and tips!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks. I haven't bulk rolled for decades and needed this to get going.
Have fun!
I appreciate this video guy, straightforward and to the point ✌️
No problem guy 👍🏽
This helps a lot. Thank you so so much for sharing.
You’re welcome!
excellent video. thank you so much.
You're welcome!
Very nice. Answered all of my questions and then some. I was just given this very bulk loader and now I feel like I have a good understanding and can attempt myself. Grazi.
Good luck!
Awesome tutorial. Thanks, Hai.
You're welcome!
terrific video Hai and thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏽
Thanks, well explained!

Very helpful, thanks!
You’re welcome!
Thank you for the tutorial, gives me greater confidence to have a go at bulk loading.
Good luck 👍🏽
@@HaiTran Thank you.
@@HaiTran First bulk roll of film loaded into my Watson 66B and the first roll of 36 exposures loaded onto a film canister. Thank you for your video all worked out great. Now to shoot the roll of film.
Have fun!
@@HaiTran Thank you.
Very good tutorial, thank you!
You're welcome and good luck 👍
Quite interesting... been thinking about buying an Canon A1 or AE-1 or Nikon FM2 or whatever... but this saves me some bucks...
Have fun 👍🏽
Nice I have a Watson too! Also the film canister's male side should be opposite the rewind crank. Have a great day bro!
I’ve always just grabbed a prerolled canister as a guide for how to orientate the reusable canister and that seems to work fine. If you watch the video at 9:26, I hold the bulk roll and prerolled canisters of film next to each other and they're in the same orientation.
It's said that the price of film three years ago was half the price it is now...it's becoming harder and harder to get film, especially color film. I hope this art doesn't die because it's the only way I shoot anymore.
When I got into film photography it was expensive for the time. Now, with prices at $10+ for a roll of relatively crap film, I have no interest in buying any for awhile. I’m glad I have a decent stockpile.
@@HaiTran I only shoot film so it's a dying horse I've chosen to ride to the bitter end. Atleast BW film looks like it'll be around for the foreseeable future. Don't know if I can say the same about color film.
Enjoy it as much as possible 👍🏽
Thank you, this help a lot, so easy to learn
Glad to hear that!
@@HaiTran i'm from Indonesia, in indonesia many young beginer
That’s great 👍🏽
thanks a lot, Hai Tran!!
You’re welcome!
thanks for covering the orientation. I wasn't 100% sure... because I got a used one from my brother, and when replacing his film stock with film I prefer to use, I noticed he had his loaded in the incorrect orientation. So, he was filling his 36 frame canisters upside down!
I needed this video for the sanity check. I've done my others correctly in past.
I am curious, I've read that the type of dispenser shown in the video can waste a little bit more film as compared to the other style, which is similar to the one you have referenced in the link (I've previously only used that style like in your link). so question: do you tend to loose that last shot ? (I'm asking about the shot closest to the section taped to the canister spool) or maybe it is black, and it goes unnoticed unless it is an extremely valuable shot
I'll add that I like to be sure that are no bits of dust inside the bulk roller before inserting fresh film, so I wipe it clean, & then use compressed air to be sure.
If anything, I think I typically get more than 36 shots or however many I roll. But I know my camera and how to load it efficiently. I can’t speak for anyone else.
THANK YOU so much for this! I got a Watson to bulk roll so I can save some money and have more control over the process. I don't trust myself to develop a $12 roll of film, but a $50 bulk roll is fine.
The issue I'm having, though, is I keep getting error messages in my cameras. Everything rolled up just fine and my canisters are brand new, they just won't suck up the film (A Minolta Maxxum 7000 and Sigma SA-7 were tried; I kinda doubt a manual camera would have an issue).
Any ideas, or have you seen this problem before?
Unfortunately, I've never had that problem so I can't help.
@@HaiTran Actually that does help, thank you. I'll try re-taping and making sure the film is better aligned on the spool.
Good luck!
Can you take the bulk roll out and put it back into the container (if you have multiple types of film)?
Yes, you can.
Have you ever had problems with your Watson loader scratching film? I'm looking at getting one but someone told me they scratch film.
Never had a problem in the couple hundreds of feet that I’ve rolled.
@@HaiTran Interesting. Thanks!
You're welcome!
Bogroll? Wasn't that something else?
I’m not sure what you’re talking about so can’t answer this question.
