    Do the same exercises apply for thoracic retrotheseosis. This is a result of a lumbar fusion. I can feel the spinae process due to the retrotheseosis and it feels like bone is coming through my back making it difficult to sit or drive. Causes severe sciatica down both sides. Also have developed kyphosis due to lumbar fusion which causes pain in ribs. I exercise every day but it seems like it always makes it worse.

    Thx Bob. Subscribed. Quick question while I wait to get into a pain specialist and PT based on my x-ray results below... I have one very disturbing symptom... when I do most any of these exercises my back is cracking and feels like my lumbar spine is slipping or vertebrae are crunching off one another... Sign to stop everything or just minimize the noise as much as possible when rehabbing on my own? I can do all your exercises with ease other than the noise. Thx. Lumbar curvature is within normal limits. There is a 2mm retrolisthesis of L2 on L3 and a 2mm anterolisthesis of L4 on L5. Vertebral body heights are maintained. Disk heights are normal in the lumbar spine. Minimal disc space narrowing at T11-T12. Moderate facet hypertrophy are seen at the L3-S1. The sacroiliac joints are symmetric. Paraspinal soft tissues are within normal limits 1:04

    Hi, Bob-So glad I found your video. XR LUMBSR SPINE 3 Views on 11/22/21 shows “compression fractures involving the superior endplate of L2 and L3. There is stable mild loss of height of L1 and T11. There is a retrolisthesis of L1 on L2, L2 on L3, L3 on L4 and L4 on L5.” Female - Age 74, who loves to garden. Pain is chronic, except when sleeping (back sleeper). Unable to stand straight (hunched over) due to L1 and T11 chronic compression deformities. Currently doing knee to chest exercise. Is it OK to do “cat cow?” Before I started gardening I could easily bend over and touch my toes and plant vegetable seeds. Now, I can only squat, keeping my back straight, to pick things up from the floor. Extremely fatigued and back feels wobbly and unstable. Are there any other exercises I should try? Looking forward to hearing from you. God bless you and your work!

    Hi Bob. I am Subscribed! Retired (after 37 yrs.) PT here in Seattle area. Great video dude. My recent CT myelogram reveals significant retrolisthesis L1 on L2 with pitting/divots of posterior disc (due to pinching??). Also have laminoplasty C3-C7. T-L junction is very stiff and painful...Fusions all levels down to L5-S1 but very good lumbar curve remains. My wear and tear all due to sports participation. Retrolisthesis is fairly rare dx. compared to Spondylolisthesis. Can you recommend any additional exs. including rotation exs. for range of motion mid-spine? Really like your kneeling with rotation and band resistance. Joe PT

      I understand what you mean, there are many questions I have to ask before I can give you any answer. Are you working with any coach or physio ? If not I would suggest to start with. Because, if you have retrolesthesis it & lminoplasty & fusion your body can be really protective of many movements including rotation. You need to get help and build up stability & strenght before thinking of increasing your mobility. I’ll be happy to help you online, but it’s not gonna be a magic exercise to make you rotate better. Your body needs time to adapt to what you asking for. Let me know if you interested working with me online and I’ll be keen to know you more. Watch the video below an example of my online clients.

    I do many of these exercises and more, but still one of my vertebrae is still in retrolisthesis. What should end result of therapeutics look and feel like? I can engage inner core muscles (TA/multifidus) and pull the vertebrae back into place, but when I'm relaxed it immediately goes back into retrolisthesis. There is no pain associated with my condition.

    • @bobthephysio
      @bobthephysio  Před rokem +2

      There is no fix or (move back the vertebra) if you experiencing above ☝️ condition. Therapeutic outcome is all about pain Managment and active daily living modification. If you don’t have pain, that’s great, doing some core work is good, staying active and strong (strenght training) is my motto. There is a lot of scary things you might have read about this condition, but the vertebra is solid, strong, resilience structure and for a fact it does not move in & out as you might think. Can an MRI show what TYPE of retrolisthesis it is? For example an 2 mm of C5-C6? Can an MRI show if it is a complete, a partial or a staircase? And how would a physical therapist help with this? Can this be made to align with the core exercises etc.? Also, what grade, percentage etc. is a 2mm slip fall into? Grade 1 (25%?) How is the slippage measured? And how does this effect the spinal CORD and spinal nerves in that area? Thanks!
