Hi- Antique Elec Supply (also known as CE Dist) has been subbing in other sprague OD series caps for 6PS series caps in several values for the last several years. Is it because the 6PS is no longer made and they have run out of stock or for some other reason? I dont know. Does the substituted series have the same material composition as a 6PS...this is the most important aspect and why the 6PS is used in these ODS style amps, so check that out as they may be fine from that perspective.

Yeah from cde's own site they're still manufactured, but got some reason many capers y don't have them. Not sure exactly. As for the tone, in not 100% sure but I think it's due to polyester vs polypropylene in the different caps even by the same manufacturer
