  • Above ground pool with deck. It is sometimes called "sinking an above ground pool" or "dropping an above ground pool" and whatever it is called, we took the challenge. See the whole story at czcams.com/users/TonysTracto...
Middle summer we jumped in wholeheartedly building our above ground swimming pool in ground. We used an Intex 16x32 pool and we couldn't be happier. My wife and I took about 3 weeks to build it by ourselves. We could have done it quicker had it not been so hot, but many days in the build were over 100 degrees. Our Tractors helped us so much, and we are so glad we had them. Using the Worksaver forklift forks saved our backs on a day by day bases. Swimming in the pool the first time was all the reward we needed for our hard work. Many people asked, “why sink an above ground pool?” Mainly, cost! At one time, concrete was one of the cheapest building materials on the market. Not so, anymore. Also, new above ground pools can be expected to last 10 years or more. This Intex Saltwater pool is a great value and can be replaced or repaired at a much lower cost than a true inground pool. Keep this in mind, all pools will require some type of heavy maintenance in ten years. We can replace the whole pool, pumps, filters and all for less than 2k. In my mind, the logic is sound. Watch in detail our journey as we build it from scratch.

I would recommend you remove your comment. When people read it, they know how weak your are. People with low self-esteem try to tear other people down to feel better about themselves. At the end of the day, you still have to live with you. I could delete this, but I will let you be a man about it. If you try to lift everyone up around you, good will come back to you. If you tear everyone around you down, then you will always be miserable. Pinning to the top of the conversation for other viewers thoughts.

Hard work we have an above ground we inherited when we bought our home 35 yrs ago.which I told the realtor I hated and she could have. Turns out we still have it 4 liners later new rails new everything which I have to say we couldn't live w/o. We swim in it everyday and the kids used it all the time. I hope you two enjoy all your hard work. We are 70 now and still swimming! ❤️

I'm a builder in Fort Worth, TX and I've been watching this since last year. I knew it was a great idea when I saw it but wanted to wait until this year to do it so I could think it through to customize it for my yard. I would do treated lumber too, but with my connections, I'm having my bricklayers put the 8x16 concrete blocks up for my retaining wall.. Right now we have the hole ready and got the blocks delivered the other day. That day it started to rain and been raining so we have 6" of water in there now on soil that doesn't drain well so I definitely will be making a catch basin for a sump pump. :)..Thanks again for the idea.

I just bought a house here in Tennessee and moved all the way here from Colorado. The nearest family I have is in Iowa. All that said, the home I bought has a lovely back yard, duel level patio deck with the lower level holding my hottub. I've been considering the thought of an above ground pool, lowered in ground to run level with my lower deck. In my head it didn't seem like it would be a huge undertaking but watching your video was a much needed reality check. 😂 I've not given up hope of making it a reality, it will just have to be much better thought out than I'd previously contemplated. Thank you so much for sharing your project. I hope you have a wonderful summer!! God Bless!

I found out the best thing to do is get ride of those Intex's Pool valves, and hoses because they are junk, go to a good pool store and replace then. Trust me from some one that knows. I see you have the crown going up on some of your boards, always have the crown going down on all of your boards. You needed some hangers for all of your joist. Can you imagine the price this lumber what it would costs for wood at todays prices in July 2021 after the Covid-19. Lowes has 2"x10'x10' for $65.00 and up for one pc. of lumber. You built this at the right time. You have a Fortune in lumber there at todays prices.

Great video. Watch out on those intex pools. The steel legs on the frame tend to rust out from the inside and we have had two legs fail at the same time and they looked fine from the outside but rusted out near the bottom on the inside. We had a second intex pool that lasted about 5 years which was good but same issue. This time, we primed all of the legs inside and out and then sprayed them all with grey rustoleum paint to help slow the process. Our son is in college now and once this last pool goes then we can have our backyard back again.

Hi Tony. I just spent a most enjoyable hour watching you guys create that fantastic pool and deck. My 24 foot arrived yesterday and I'm going to install it on a slope, 3.5 feet dig out at the back with a block retaining wall at the back and 2 stepped block retaining walls at the sides. I'm single handed with spade and barrow so should be interesting ;) I can't wait to get going but I'm in southern Bulgaria and the ground is pretty frozen to dig right now. I'll build decking along the high ground length only, nothing fancy. Got some great ideas from watching you. Hoping I don't need a big dug out space to lay the legs out to attach but see you folded the liner back, great thinking. Wish me luck all the best and thanks for a great video :)
