Castlevania IV's soundtrack was and is a standout moment in game music composition. Even as a child, I could tell there was something special in the effort the two composers put into the game's tracks. From moody atmospheric pieces to jazz fusion, a blend of mortal danger and restless exuberance; the soundtrack took the player on a musical journey that mirrored their trek through Dracula's fantastic domain. You could practically feel the excitement the composers had in pushing the new technology (the SNES had only been out for a year when Castlevania was released) to its limits - and boy did they push. Just a wonderful effort all around.
One of the composers for this game Taro Kudo has only a few credits for game soundtracks, but if you appreciate the music of CV4 I'd strongly recommend checking out the music of another title that he composed for called Axelay, a top-down space shmup title for ths SNES that released a year after this game.
The soundtrack while short I feel has some of the DNA that makes CV4 so captivating, maybe it's the drumming. I'd like to hear what you think.
A slightly slower version of this track plays in the game's intro, in which Dracula comes back to life. When this starts playing as the way to the throne room opens and you slowly approach to face the Count... chills.
This OST had some of the finest compositions I've ever heard from a video game.

Castlevania IV was one of the first games I played on the snes as a child (probably around 1999). I never beat it but have some good memories from it, specially about the OST

A true tour de force of a soundtrack. A 16 bit masterpiece. Some people will say Symphony on the night is the best but it doesnt compare to the originality of this especially in light of the limitations of the Super Nintendo and a CD console. A true classic 💪
Would like to suggest a couple of main themes frome two games that are now shut down but where my childhood. The Main Theme from FusionFall and the Main theme from Exonaut. Love your content learned a lot from it.
Finally Geebz is listening to a good ost again! About time! Castlevania4 is the best

Stage 2 - The Forest of Monsters

Stage 4.1 - Clockwork Mansion
Stage 4.2 - Clockwork 2
Stage 5 - Courtyard
Stage A - Bloody Tears (with the knowledge that it was a remix of a previous game theme)
Stage B - Room of Close Associates
then maybe revisit this Dracula Theme
then - Ending
Typing it out sounds like a lot. At least the first two tracks together would be great. I think they showcase what the SNES can do really well.

It's not really the final boss music, I think it plays at the beginning of the fight. Anyway it's an epic moment, before, along and after the fight...
It's the first phase of the final boss, then the classic Simon's Theme plays during phase 2.
I'm 47...and whenever I hear song (or stage one's music) I feel like I'm sitting in my best friends room playing this masterpiece. Ty for the memories.

4 is my favorite cause of the music i had it as a kid...too bad he didnt hear part 2 which is simons theme cause thats the best track in the game(during his beast form)
If you wanna try out a Castlevania game IV is probably one of the easiest (1-3 are brutal). Great music

I didn't play anymore than like 10 minutes of any Castlevania game, but I totally respect the composition of their OSTs. Being a lil Romanian I might be a lil biased to the castles and dungeons music. You might check out "Dungeon Synth" sometime on the main channel if you haven't before. It very much captures this sort of sound, but maybe a bit slower and with more ambiance etc.
