Kyle Petty catches up with legendary Allison brothers | Coffee with Kyle | Motorsports on NBC
/ motorsportsonnbc - Sport
The loss of both Clifford and Davey Allison was a crushing blow to the Nascar community,For Bobby Allison to suffer such an unthinkable tragedy and still have the courage to continue being involved in the sport speaks volumes about the great man he is.
I grew up watching Richard Petty and Bobby Allison race, and later Kyle and Davey. I got to meet Bobby, Davey, and Kyle back in the 80’s. Both families were my favorites. In the summer of 91, I was dealing with a bout with cancer at age 18. I saw Bobby at an autograph session and he talked with me a little bit about what I was going through. He gave me words of encouragement and advice. Just a genuinely nice guy. I have never forgotten that moment. Losing Clifford and Davey as a race fan was hard. Years later, when it was announced that Adam was going to move up, I was excited and then the crash happened. Felt for Kyle and Patty as I did for Bobby and Judy. Watching this episode was fun but sad too. These two families contributed heavily to my racing memories. I’m glad that they had this episode.
Kyle Petty is preserving the stories of yester year with these interviews.
I laughed. I cried. I wanted to hear more. That's the definition of a great interview.
Jeff Mattel Jesus, who pissed in your cereal?
@Jeff Mattel yeah we did with the bit talking about Davey,
Was going to type the same. Well said sir.
I'm blessed to have grown up watching these great drivers. Petty, Allison, Pearson, Yarborough, and so many others. I love that these guys are all family in spirit.
That was quite an emotional show, and Kyle was humble and open about his feeling's for the Allison brothers and the loss if the three boys. It was quite hard at the end to watch the emotions on their faces.
It's still hard to believe Bobby survived the '88 Pocono crash with such severe brain injuries.
@@AndyFromBeaverton i know i wonder if he will get that brain disease that all the athlites are dying of I hope not
@@jennifursun3303 I would think if he had chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), he would have had signs by now. A lot of athletes that I have seen with CTE have had it by their 60's.
@@AndyFromBeaverton true sadly it now effect even teenagers.
Yeah the emotions were real
One of the most powerful interviews I’ve ever seen. Great jobs by Kyle, Bobby and Donnie. God bless them all❤️
Oh my two fathers talking about the biggest loss a parent can have is heartbreaking I don't know how Bobby dealt with losing his two boys in such a short period of time is heartbreaking beyond belief I feel for both Bobby and Kyle
Kyle does the best interviews I think. Such history with his family and those that raced during that period of time.
Keep it up Kyle we love you!
My husband grew up in Wilkes county he absolutely loves Nascar he loves the Allison's Petty's and he has a favorite person his name is junior johnson.he went to his race shop when it was in angle hollar on hwy 421 his dad also was a moonshiner just like juniors dad.junior was always kind to him when he was a young man and he has never forgot it .God bless junior Bobby Donnie and Richard .
R.I.P. Junior Johnson
I agree. Kyle Petty is a walking Nascar Encyclopedia. It started with him as a baby being at the track and it has never ended. It's been his whole life and he has so much to over in stories that have never been told. I'd love to see a coffee with Kyle that has Richard Petty, Cale Yarborough, The Allisons, Darrell Waltrip and any other drivers of that era all together. Especially since Kyle also raced against them all makes it even more interesting. He has seen them through the eyes of a kid to the eyes of a competitor....
Like Dale Jr., living in the shadows of legends gives them a unique perspective on the sport.
Great interview, Kyle! Still makes me cry to hear about Davey, Clifford and Adam. Three wonderful young men taken way too soon.
Kyle I'm about 6 months older than you. While you grew up with a racing family, I grew up watching and IDOLIZING your family. When your Dad took down the pit wall at Darlington and me watching it on ABC Wide World of Sports I was HOOKED! My point is, I've lived as close as possible to know as much as I could about The Pettys! CRIED for years over Adam! My 2 daughters called me that day worried about me! Even my ex- wife was concerned! This interview is beyond words! Touching doesn't give it enough credit for what it means to me!! Thank You and God for CZcams! P.S. Saw Stroker Ace last night again! lol Loved your cameo! Big thumbs UP!!! Long Live the PETTYS!!!
The Allisons. The Pettys. The Eaarnhardts. NASCAR's three greatest families who all lost someone to the sport.
Michael Pate Id love to see the Gordons became a great dynasty like those three.
Marine1775Preacher1611 American1776 Bahaha
Don't forget the jarretts.
@@pp3k3jamail or the Elliott's

Davey was my friend, Bobby was always a great storyteller... Donnie was always a jokester... After the crash... and the death... Bobby was never the same. I miss going to Hueytown and visiting with them.
When the Allison’s raced that was the heyday of nascar racing. Them and all the others were the legends!!! They had the tempers you see at the Saturday nite races!!! Wish we had that today!!
OMG!!! Love, love, LOVE this interview!! The history between these two gentlemen, and with Kyle is truly amazing!! Kyle Petty is quickly becoming one of my favorite voices of Nascar because I know he loves this sport as much as I do, and the respect that he has for not only what the Petty family has done, but what folks like the Allisons did as well. Long live the Alabama Gang!
I was impressed with the entire history of the Allison brothers racing history. I didn't know much about Donnies' and I thought I knew more about Bobbys' than what's out there. I'm more of an Allison fan because of this story. Thanks to Kyle and NBC Motorsports for this story.
I'm a Canadian and been a Nascar fan for over 50 years. I can still see Bobby Allison flying his own plane into Cayuga (now Jukasa) Speedway in Ontario Canada to race a few special races driving the Chevy Coke machine. Most everyone ran on the bottom there but Bobby ran around the top and set a new track record. I remember shaking Bobby's hand every time he was there. Just a great guy!
When i think about the pain i still feel when i remember the awesome young Sons these men lost, it's impossible to believe they survived it all. Bless these 3 men for the pain they still have and for all the enjoyment they still give us today.
One of the most heartfelt interviews I have ever seen. I have no idea the pain and suffering these men went through.
Excellent job Kyle. Thank you for taking the time to talk to these two legends of the sport. It's great to hear their side of the story while they are still here to tell it.
Kyle what a wonderful heart warming interview and thanks for bringing Bobby and Donnie back to us. I have been a NASCAR fan for 56 years and remember the times when racing was a family sport. Keep it coming.
That was awesome. I can't think of a better way to spend 30 minutes. I respect all 3 of these guys more having watched that. Such a relaxed interview.
GREAT INTERVIEW! The Allison Brothers obviously were born with the talent to be great race drivers which I never realized before this interview.
Kyle what a great interview. So genuine and real. Should be in the National Archive! I cried. My old heroes were the best!!!
This could be the best interview/chat I have ever watched.
I tell you right now that Allison Brothers Bobby Donnie Eddie and the whole entire family is some of the greatest people that ever lived you will never find race car drivers like these two ever again one-of-a-kind. I enjoy watching Bobby and Donnie race all my life.
Does not get any better than this. So much joy.. so much pain. Love all you guys. Well done Kyle.
, Very Well Said, Larry
Legends, all of you. Kyle, you & Jr. really hit the mark with your interviews. Love them, thank you!
This has to be the best interview I have ever watched on youtube. Two good families - good people.
I knew about Bobby's appearances in Indy car and Trans Am (most famously in one of Pete Brock's Datsun 510s), but this was the first I heard of him testing a Shadow Can Am car. Great stuff as always, Kyle.
As I met Bobby, he literally made this gesture 👌 toward me and smiled.
AWESOME moment
Sweet. Bobby seems like he would be a nice guy.
Amazing! Loved the stories the Allison brothers tell and got some great insight into their Indy experiences. The end brought a tear to my eye as you could feel the pain all three had for their overwhelming losses. The respect between the 2 families is on full display here. Outstanding Kyle and try to get a few more hours with these incredible friends of yours! God bless the Allison's and the Petty's!
What a fantastic interview. Very touching moments with Kyle and Bobby talking about their sons.
Kyle these interviews are just over the top and this is my favorite one so far. It was hard not getting a little emotional when describing the huge losses to both families. Thank you !
This Was So Good,,, Kyle Is So Good,,, Such An Historiaian,,, The Loss of All Those Boys,,, Clifford, Davey, Adam,,, Heart Breaking,,, I Can Remember Them All... Bobby Was Maybe My First Super Hero In NASCAR... Life Is Sad, Life Is Hard, and It's Not Fair, But That's Life,,,,
i could listen to these guys all day long , such great history , thank you , it felt like i was sitting there at the table with my heroes
I had the opportunity to sit with Bobby during a race party in my town, the most wonderful person to talk to. Will never forget that night. Wish we could get longer episodes.
Another amazing show Kyle, keep them coming! This one certainly put a tear in my eye. God bless you all!
Kyle Petty is undoubtedly the finest TV interview person in all of motor sports. His knowledge, history, and love of the sport carries him.
Did he say "this limey talking guy"?.......Lmao, I love this old man.
Which one
This was the best one yet!!! As a die hard petty fan who truly believed in the rivalry always had great respect for the Allison’s!!!!!!
WOW.What could you say. What a INTERVIEW that was.The DAM BEST SHOW on You Tube and for Nascar.
Wow and I thought there would never be an episode better than The King and Dale Inman one just because of the absolute coolness of it. Then today seeing Bobby and Donnie on the show completely blew me away. The excitement the laughter the tears. So great to see for fact. Winston Cup racing was racing but a family environment as well. This episode will always be special
Best interview ever, in all of the world, what family and friends should model themselves to be, Thank you Kyle , the Allison’s,and the pettys .
I got so emotional watching this interview.. The love for friends is profound.. and laughing with tears in your eyes feels pretty good! I’ve always admired these three men and their families.. Love what you’re doing Kyle thanks
Thanks, Kyle. Thank you, Bobby and Donnie
These are amazing interviews. Thank you NBC and thank you Kyle Petty.
Kyle, you have found your true ealling. These aren't interviews, they are vivid looks into the souls of the participants as only someone with similar experiences can provoke. God Bless you for sharing!
Wow Kyle I just discovered your Coffee with Kyle series and I will watch all of them. The one with the Allisons was meaningful, heart felt and showed the people behind the famous names. Thanks for doing such a great job interviewing. You ask the right question, then wait. And the answers you get are usually moving and deep. People trust you and you put them at ease. Thats why you get the "I've never told anybody this before but..." answers. Big fan, thanks for doing this Kyle
Met Bobby several times, and Donny one time in the pits at Daytona, what gentlemen they both are, spent time just talking,I will never forget that,Just sayin'
Nice. Alot of the older drivers were really nice. I know he isn't that old but I have met Ricky Rudd and he was really nice
Incredible interview. Loved Donnie's story about getting AJ to give him a shot at Indy...
Humbled to tears . God bless the Petty and Allison families and everyone else for that matter 🙏👌😢😋
Amen. Man I just can't imagine how difficult it was for Kyle and Bobby losing their sons.
Kyle what a man. You really made me feel your connection to the Allison brothers.
Always nice to listen to legends. Could listen to them all day long. Thank you. Cannot wait for the next one.
not a nascar fan but know the story of the Allisons ..... fantastic insightful interview .....thanks for posting this
Just like the Dale Junior Download, I really appreciate and enjoy these interviews that seem to be more like it is benefitting KP and the Allison brothers more than the audience.
I really enjoyed this, brought back, a lot of memories. Thanks for taking the time and sharing it.
Great interview, I grew up watching Bobby race he's still my hero at age 62
So real, thank you all for doing this !
Thanks for that! I wasn't fixen on crying this morning!! Lots of love.
Goodness, I love the Allisons; they're such kindhearted people. I'd hate to think of what Bobby went through in the 90s with his two boys. God bless their hearts.
I think this is the best of the best of all of Kyle's interviews
This could have run an hour and still not covered 10% about the Allisons. When is part two? Gotta have the inside to the Donneybrook at Daytona.
With all the racing the Allisons did the interview would last at least a week. I'd love to hear all the stories of their escapades running the short tracks of Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi back in the 60's.
That's one of the biggest problems of today's racing.
Family is gone!
Not just in racing, but in todays society in general.
Randy HUTCHINSON.
You say “US?”
@@ltsgarage7780 us the common man, the small business owner. People will only tolerate the dictator while he provides enough feed for everyone to survive. NASCAR(dictator) got to greedy and monopolized the sport at the pointy end of the as sport and the common man is nowhere to be seen even if he is there he's certainly not allowed to act as one. People weren't getting feed enough to survive as a fan. you need to be capable of relating to a product.
N.W.O Whoknowstheshadowknows do people really buy product because they see it on a race?
Would you buy a Toyota because it won a race??
Win on Sunday. Buy on Monday is long gone!
Grew up in S Fla, grew up around some of the Allison Family and was a huge fan of they're. God Bless them for all they have been through.
Wow! Kyle u r the best. Such a powerful shared experience.
Absolutely the best video yet. I want to see more of the Allison's. I absolutely love the Alabama Gang. Please please please have more episodes with them.
All of the Allisons were before my time. But I learned alot today watching this. And shed some tears for all ya'll. Thanks Kyle you had me crying in my coffee, and to my surprise it made it better! Now I have to slam my finger in the door every morning, so I'm glad to tell ya now cause I may never type again.
Another great program. Kyle keep them coming !
Great interview the foundation of nascar is strong and the Allison’s are a huge part of that great introducing the the younger fans to the legends of the sport.
This may be the best one yet. Great job.
I've always loved these guys, a lot of grit between the two of em. I raced against Red once, what a racer too. This might be your greatest interview.
The interview was so great, I didn't want it to end.
That was the best one , I feel for all of you.
The one I’ve been waiting for, and it lived up to its billing.
Younger fans that never knew of Davey may not realize what a massive loss to the sport his death was. I went to Pocono a few days after and grown men we blubbering
Post quarantine fan here one of the best interviews videos on CZcams love the Alabama gang and the Allison's also the pettys
I met Donnie last year right there at the Raceway Grill before the Southern 500. I'd love to meet Bobby.
These are great vids Kyle! The history of this sport is what it's all about.
Fascinating: Thank you, for this. Love me some Pettys and Allisons.
Having the Allison brothers together is amazing
I saw the emotions in Bobby's eyes he loves his kids
Maybe best interview I have ever watched. Growing up in Alabama in the 60-70’s, the Allisons were like the Bear, almost God like. Bless these wonderful families. Great job Kyle!
What a great interviews Kyle please keep them up can't wait for the next one to come out boy still got tears in my eyes
Kyle this is the best one yet, I just love to hear those stories. Amazing human beings all three
Great interview of the Allison brothers. Kyle does a great job.
This was wonderful. I really enjoyed and learned a lot. Would be great to see more people like this.
Great interview that’s why I used to love nascar. People like them and yourself. Thanks
Thanks Kyle for this. Made me cry man. I love ya brother. God love ya brother.
Pure class - one of the best interviews I have seen - keep it up.
wow...l love you guys too. Thank you all for what you gave to the sport I love. Wow... this is a great piece!
Kyle you are a kind humble person, thank you for this video
I feel blessed to be alive to see this
The Petty family and the Allison family is the story of NASCAR, along with A strong supporting cast, of course.
Awesome! I was so fortunate to have sat down with Bobby in Daton Ohio for an hour or more at an autograph signing session, I just happened to be up there on Air Force business it was a fluke that I was even there. It was one of the most memorable times of my life. He says to me and my friend "Why don't you guys come back here and set with me". Of course we did. Awesome stories were told. It was a short time after Davey passed. I had small children back in Florida that we had been talking about. When we were ready to go Bobby looked at me and grabbed my hand and told me no matter what cherish your kids and hug them every chance you get. That was a long hand shake. I will never forget it. Great memories. Thanks! I still have Bobby's business card.
My favorite driver of all time,Bobby Allison !
Great interview about the good old days! I'm still a fan today, but it is probably because I got hooked back then.
Amazing interview!
Best Show Yet,Keep them comming Thank you Kyle
This is great to see again. These guys are real heroes
Thank You Kyle for these interviews, They are the Best!!!!
Coffee with Kyle is one of my all-time Racing Related shows (alongside with Dale Jr Download) on NBC! Honestly, I would LOVE to see "Coffee with Kyle" as a TV show! I can't be the only one suffering that SPEED is gone still after 6 years, but I really hope NBC continues to show interest in racing. NBC needs their own Motorsports channel!
Kyle We want more please loving it Respect to you as always
