    Brilliant video mate. I'm hiring a car for 2 weeks in Spain next Summer with the family and already I'm over-thinking driving on (what we all know is) the wrong side of the road. This video has put my mind at ease. Thanks for a wonderful upload buddy...

      My pleasure , if you have any questions before your trip don’t be afraid to ask.
      Just follow the first steps on getting in the car and everything else will come naturally. I hope you and the family have a great trip to Spain 👍

      @@johnc3403 Before I forget...If you are hiring a car in Spain the excess cover at the hire desk or on line can be up to double the hire charge for the car.
      You can cover yourself from as little as £40 on line in the U.K., however if you do cause a accident, you will need to pay the excess on returning the car and then claim it back when you are in Britain.

      @@learnthis.....5403 Sorry for the late reply. I don't have notifications turned on and missed your comment. That's great advice and I'll make sure to do that. I saw you say that also in video no.3 that you uploaded today. Very helpful videos too. Well done and thank you.

    Good video going to Spain for 2 weeks in September and hiring a car. Getting it on day we get there til day before we leave. Not sure how much driving I’ll do first day it’s a few minutes drive to where we are staying so will see how I’m feeling cos we got a daft time flight so won’t get much sleep night before but I’m normally ok in day when doing stuff. Read that the main problem people have had with driving on opposite side of road is if you need to react fast you tend to do what you’re used to rather than the opposite. I think this could be where I make mistakes more cos last year I went on quad bikes and part was on roads following someone and a few times I nearly went to get on left side when there was oncoming traffic. Managed to stop myself in time but so easy to do when you’re so used to it.

      You will be okay! I love driving in Spain, beautiful long empty roads, not too many Tolls and speed cameras at a minimum.
      Use the Car as a tool to make sure you have a great holiday visiting other Towns, Regions etc.. I promise you it will get much easier as time passes and there is nothing wrong with a bit of nerves as it makes us concentrate much better! Have a great Holiday.
      P:S look at my video about Car Rental Insurance, it might save you money..

    All sensible advice. I've picked up dozens of hire cars over the years but I still do the check list before leaving the hire yard. I'd say another big thing to sort out before you leave the hire yard is your mirrors. It's perfectly normal to whack your left hand into the door for a few days when you driving non the continent for the first time. You'll probably bump into the right hand side pavement as well but that will pass.

      The first videos will start around the third week of July.

      They were ok.. i hated turning left at a junction with lanes and lights… i always did get my left nd rights mixed up anyway so having a passenger screeching turn left, or turn right was no help😂

    Just like millions of others I have been unable to travel to Spain for the last two years, hence not doing any other videos.
    However I am looking to do part 2 very soon, I am very happy that this video has helped some people realise that driving in Europe isn't anything to worry about!

      This week I drove on the opposite side of road for the first time here in Spain. It took a few hours to adjust and I did get honked at fir being in the wrong lane at a roundabout yesterday, I also managed to scuff the alloy of my rental car when trying to reverse park for the first time.

    • @everythingspain9442
      @everythingspain9442  Před 2 lety

      @@BC_36 but you survived! The first time I drove in Spain I scuffed the alloy and the roundabouts were worrying, however the next time I drove in Spain I wasn’t as nervous so had no issues.
      It’s all in the mind Chris, just keep going and you will be fine👍

      David you will be fine mate! Just adjust and get used to the car layout before pulling off and within around 30-60m you will more then likely ask yourself why you was so nervous.
      Spain is a very beautiful country to drive in and have some of the best roads in Europe, so enjoy and don’t worry!

    Hi, have a hire car and need to return it with a fuel tank, how do I fill up in Spain if I don’t know exactly how much to put in? Do I need to pay first?

    • @everythingspain9442
      @everythingspain9442  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Chris,
      How far is the nearest petrol station to the car hire company?
      I always go to the nearest station to the Airport that I am flying from and make sure the tank is brimming.
      If you don’t do that they will sting you with a big fuel bill, as they charge for their time + fuel.

      Yes you can, however specify it when booking your car.
      It does tend to be more expensive to hire a automatic in Spain/Europe.

    Making a big deal out of some thing that is no big deal...use a little common sense...it is harder to do things wrong than it is to do them right...if you are a bad driver in the UK then you will be a bad driver in Spain..you will crash and be killed...so...don't drive any where (where I am)

      @@everythingspain9442 Hello...No problem, but...the point is that you don't have to be Mr Schumacher (didn't he have some kind of accident?), just don't be an idiot...if you are hiring a car it is already left hand drive, so it is natural to drive that left hand drive car on the other side of the road (to UK)..if you bring your UK over to Europe then where ever you arrive you are delivered to the correct/right side of the road...you have to make a big effort (incorrectly) to end up on the incorrect side of the road for the country you are in...signs are pretty idiot proof...stop means, err...stop...red light means, erm...stop, green means?, go?...if you can not follow idiot proof signs and rules, then maybe you are an idiot...don't drive in that case...your welcome.

      Normally people get scared or hesitant just due to the unknown or stories people tell them.
      You and I are aware that driving in Spain isn’t a issue because we have done it, however, millions of nervous people haven’t so are worried what might happen.
      It does not make you or me a better driver them, we are just more informed on driving in Europe.

      Of course millions of Europeans are forced to drive on the "wrong" side of the road..it's so hard! I don't think that I am qualified to give you advice, but....if you really are so traumatized by driving anti clock wise around a round about, I would say either get out more, or stay home...some where secure (maybe padded?)
