@@mattwo7 The theses of PQ2 are about individualism and the need to rebel against social conformity. They are an extension of P5's theme, while the rest are just... there.
Don't get me wrong, I like PQ2's story, but what OP said is the exact reason why I prefer PQ1 over it. It's a true crossover between both games' characters, themes, and messages. Somehow, they were able to synthesize two different stuff into something that's both captivating modern JRPG standards and reminiscing the classics (notably Maki Sonomura from P1). It's arguably one of the best JRPG stories in this generation despite its chibi aesthetics.
I love how they're all on that gear-thing at the end and I feel like they just give off this "You come to the wrong neighborhood" vibe.

Never heard of Persona before, saw this game was on sale on the DS store for download, and always remembered this game was a big deal when it was released, figured I would give it a shot.
This game was my first Persona game, and it HOOKED me. God damn in the first few hours of playing this game I fell in love.
I went back in time to play older persona games, and have loved them all.
Just in time too, now you get to suffer with us these next 4 months waiting for Persona 5!

TBF Q2 focuses much more on the P5 gang and P3FEMC due to Q equally focusing already on the P3 and P4 gang. Q is the P3 and P4 gang's game so they have less focus on PQ2 to give the spotlight to the newbies.

You know, that part after camera zooms to Rei. As camera zooms to Rei, we see her inside story. She's dead (Rabbit being teared apart), she had an operation and was shaved (Hair on hands) and she tried to gouge her eyes out... or that her eyes aren't her real eyes. (Bloody Tears).
I looove when openings look like a bunch of awesome-composed scenes and images. And when you finish the game, you see a foreshadowing in these scenes.

If she's dead already and faking the happiness of life, it could symbolize both games ideas, P3 about remembering death and P4 about finding the truth, she has to go through the dungeons to find the truth again that she is already dead and upon us making it to the end of the clocktower both protagonists complete their respective themes, P4 found the truth of this world and P3 faces against death both physically and emotionally with them tackling the reality of their newly met friend being dead and having to come to terms with that

Oh no not at all. Ken was one of my favourite actually. On FES, the Answer, and Portable, my final party members always have Ken. Persona-wise he has the most coverage with Electric, Light, Physical, and Healing. His storyline was actually interesting for me and his arcana was one of my favorites

Of you pause just right when Yu and Minato are about to use their persona, you can get an epic shadow siltuet of them with yellows and blues eyes with a red background.
I manage to to do it at the 1:20 mark. So give it a shot. I promise it a amazing scean.
I got it, it's easier to do with 0.25 speed and at 1:19 instead.

I was introduced to Persona via a show called 'Cosplay Wars' (A girl was cosplaying Elizabeth) and was obsessed instantly. Then come later and I find PQ on the Nintendo EShop and I bought that shit first chance I got (Well physically, Nintendo said I was too young to even look at the game info) This game was so fun but I stopped playing by the end of the first dungeon though, because god decided to shine a light on this little obsessive weeb.... which essentially meant a friend of mine told me he had both P4 & P3 and the rest is history.
Fun Fact: The first one I played was P4 because of PQ. P4 Is also my all time favorite game because it's story hit way too damn hard for 15 year old me. Especially the stuff with Naoto goddamn did that shit hit too close to home.

But it doesnt make sense, since no one who only plays on the 3DS will know even a single character of the Persona 3 or 4 (or 5) cast... and this game is the definition of fanservice, so why release it where no mainline games of Persona exist?
@@Schwuga well its also got quite a few similarities with the etrian odyssey games which are also on the ds, and i dont think that knowing the characters is a problem as i know quite a few people who have never played a persona game and know quite a few of the characters, and personally i think that the type of game persona q is works really well on the ds also the problem with your arguement is that people MIGHT not know who the cast is which is not a problem since the characters personalities are shown of and explained for the few people who don't know who they are. And assuming that not a single person who plays the 3DS will not know the persona games is pretty dull really.
I know its a late response but the reason for this is because both Persona Q games are not just Persona games, but in terms of gameplay are almost the same as the Etrian Oddesy games, a series with all its games on the 3DS and thats mechanics only work on the 3ds.

Using the MC as the major spell caster, Yukiko as a heal/magic damage dealer, Aigis for buffs, Chie for "HOLY SHIT" damage, and Koromaru for hype-dog shenanigans.
I'd have to go with Yu. H-have you seen Izanagi-No-Okami's resistantes? It's beautiful!

All the marketing for PQ2 just feels like another Persona 5 adventure, with the rest as guest stars.

Tips for anyone having trouble, use Naoto and Minato with Mahama/ Mamudo, it really makes random encounters easier. Also, if you use Ken, you are not my friend.

I am in my first playthrough (normal difficultly) right now and in the 4th Labyrinth. I never played P3 ore 4. Only P5
My team is : P3 guy, Aigis, Koramaru, Zen and Ray, Ken.
With his high luck staat Ken is a monster when it comes to instant kills and status effects.
A true godsend against FOEs and Elizabeth. I know she is not really trying but I was shocked how easy the first 2 Elizabeth battles where.
And when I tried to fight that fast runner FOE in the 4th Labyrinth I was also shocked how easy he went down.
