I'm gonna tell my age on this. I remember Maury Povich was a news anchor. He had two different stints at WTTG Fox 5 in Washington, DC and then New York. He was the original host of "A Current Affair" The show that invented the term "Tabloid TV"
I remember watchin this when I was little. Back then he was more conservative and had relevant topics before the paternity/lie detector tests. Also before his catchphrase YOU'RE NOT THE FATHER.
Man this music makes me think I'm in for some hard-hitting reporting about serious issues...glad it's not one of those shows who's the daddy.....riiiight.
When Universal agreed to distribute _Maury_ in 1998, they did so on the condition that the show explore more salacious topics. The salacious fare proved popular to the point where it was a regular feature of its final years. Maury is retiring this year. His last original show will air in September but stations will be offered a package of reruns.
