NIL and Transfer Portal have pretty much ruined CFB for me.
I’ve Played, Coached, and Watched Football for 20+ Years. College Football has been the only consistent thing I look forward to every year and I even though I’m a Alabama Fan I’ve always loved watching other games whether is unranked teams or ranked teams. The start of TP/NIL I started to only watch big games and Bama, but the last 2 years I’ve only cared to watch Alabama.
Saban would still be coaching another 5 years or so if NIL/TP didn’t exist or at least had guardrails. Saban is the only reason why Alabama Football hadn’t quite felt the FULL FORCE NIL/TP, but once he retired its was DISGUSTING watching EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE PLAYERS WHO LEFT.
Especially anyone who wasn’t a Junior or someone entering their Senior Year and they know they have no chance to start it makes a little sense.
But every underclassman that left ESPECIALLY THE STARTERS once Saban left showed how selfish, disloyal, and the kind of person they are.
There’s no loyalty to the Logo, University, Fans, tradition, legacy, or whatever else anymore. Bond literally solidified his legacy in a DEEP AND RICH list of Players with catching the 4th&31, but he left even though he was WR1 when completely tarnished the moment and makes it seem pointless to be happy about.
Like if Tua or Smithy would have left after 2nd&26 the play wouldn’t mean the same

Player development and team loyalty is history. The players refuse to wait. They want to play now. So they hit the portal. But, any player that hits the portal better have a plan of where they will land. Otherwise, you can wind up stuck in the portal, or on a lower caliber team.
