This opera is a presentation of Cantonese opera singing, acting, fighting and dancing .
This episode is about 2 snakes, one white and one green. They both lived on the mountain for thousands of years. After absorption of the spirit of sun and earth and practicing Taoism, they were able to turn into goddesses and possessed magic power. One day they decided to transform into two beautiful young ladies and came down to earth to visit.
The white snake met a nice young man called Hui Sin. They fell in love and married soon afterward. There was a monk who lived in a temple on the Gold Mountain. He found out about the relationship between the white snake and Hui Sin and was not pleased. He decided to break up their marriage. He tricked Hui Sin into his temple and imprisoned him there. When white snake learned about this, she was furious. She decided to come to his rescue by herself.
The play begins when the white snake lady paddles a boat by herself across the water to the Gold Mountain. She vows to rescue her husband no matter what. Meanwhile, the Green Snake lady chases after her best friend in another boat. She wants to calm her down and not to make any damaging mistakes. When they meet in front of the temple, green snake tries to persuade her friend, but they are not getting any answers from the monk, so they decide to flood the land as well as the temple in order to force the monk to release Hui Sin. The green snake then starts her magic power to call out all her friends from the sea to help move the water. This movement makes the heaven emperor mad. He sent soldiers down to fight the snakes.
