I have know Richie's music since well we won't mention that period but that's how far back. Over the course of time one thing I can say without a doubt. Richie has never followed trends and always played for his ear! Although he has that great voice that reminds us of a legend gone by. Richie has always had this voice. As you and me enjoy it the haters would tear him down for it but in reality Stand came before Soundgarden and those same characteristics were there then. Richie is Richie and Chris was Chris!

According to Ritchie, he was talking to Portnoy on the phone and had him send him anything he wanted in a drum track. So Portnoy sent him this whole thing in 7/8. Ritchie then proceeded to write and perform this masterpiece

I truly love all Ritchie's music. But, Ritchie, Mike, and Billy seem to have a different kind of magic. Mike is one of my favorite drummers, Billy sets in a category all by himself , and Richie just shines unlike his other stuff, which is powerful as well.
