Art, and the rules of the media, a great discussion, you've really made a good thing here. Educational chat as well, and this writer is Scottish, goodness knows what he thinks of culture in Scotland! Amazing - it sounds like a good book, but most of all this general discussion is fascinating.

Thank you for reviewing this! I was getting frustrated trying to find lesser known writer and books! I review books, but what interest does another review of a best seller hold, with its huge publishing house marketing team behind it? These lesser known but in some cases far more talented writers may be writing less commercially typical books but still deserve to be read, reviewed and loved or hated.

Perfect Timing! A book about foreign language films and a foreign language film 'Parasite' just won the Hollywood's Best Picture Oscar for the first time..... I would love to read this book..... Jean-Luc Godard's films are very unique..... 'Breathless', 'Alphaville' and his more recent one 'Goodbye to Language' are some of my favorite films.... His 2018 film 'The Image Book' is a very hard one tho..... I need to watch that again.....

This is absolutely fascinating, Kamil. I'm of the generation that experienced the rush of not only the New Wave but also the growth of European and world cinema (Satayajit Ray an example of the latter). There were films that reflected the film making process, such as 8 1/2, by Fellini, Day For Night by Truffaut, but in other ways many of those filmmakers, like Godard drew your attention to the process of film and performance in some of their films (Jacques Rivette for example, or even Bergman in the opening montage of Persona). The whole idea behind this book therefore is really interesting to me, a bit of a movie buff. Thanks for alerting us to its presence, I intend to seek it out.
I saw several Godard films from the first half of his career : Breathless, Bande a Part, Contempt, Pierrot le Fou, Weekend, Sauve Qui Peut and Passion. I've seen snippets of later films but they appear to be rather tiresome doodlings for my taste : so a fascinating, flawed film maker who at times enjoyed being controversial rather than trying to communicate. Most people, therefore would be drawn most to those films that still contain a degree of plot, and of those, I think Pierrot le Fou is my favourite, apart from Breathless.

tony bennett if you are a movie buff Tony you would enjoy it probably even more, or at least have a more vivid discussion with the book. I plan on rewatching Breathless this month and hopefully Pierrot Le Fou, but unfortunately I’m not much of a movie buff I do watch them but don’t think that I take as much from them as a person that understands the history of cinema on a deeper level.

Hi, thank you it’s a lovely comment and I do appreciate you watching the video.
I guess my stellar grammar performance in this video including royal pronunciation made you ask the question regarding the language:😂😂 it made me chuckle a bit. English is my acquired language, I learned it in school, hence the accent and sometimes grammar issues with prepositions and articles (we don’t use the latter in Polish, my mother tongue). I’ve been working in English though over the last 10 years or so I feel quite comfortable using it.
