Wooyoung is beautifully complicated, and I love that about him. Wooyoung is 2PM - he doesn’t separate the two. I’ve been a very patient Jangppa (Wooyoung bias) for over 7 years - patient because he was very closed off until recently, and he really takes his time to do what he wants, but what he gives us is so worth the wait. He took some time to slow down and figure out who he is, and we’ve been seeing the result in his three 2017/18 albums and all his solo projects since his hiatus. He kind of let go of a certain image and embraced his weird and wild side, as well as his contemplative and quiet side. I think he’s the hardest for new fans to fall for because he doesn’t like to fit an idol image, he’s very honest (and has boundaries), his music is all over the place to the point of challenging your ear, and he doesn’t try to do perfect and flashy stages. But his concerts are extraordinary. His and Jun. K’s styles work really well together, so I hope you’ll get to watch some videos from their recent fancon - it’s available on VOD now.
For now, I wouldn’t bother with his first album. Rather, please check out Mada Boku wa… which I think you would absolutely love, followed by Party Shots. He has performed all songs from both albums live. (On LOVE 2PM and Don’t Stop Can’t Stop’s channels, respectively.) His song Sexy Lady was written by JYP and is very JYP. Wooyoung would probably never perform it again if given a choice, but some fans love it. Special plug for his live performance of Only Girl from his Mada Boku wa tour 🙏🙏🙏 The recorded song on his 2012 album is boring, but he puts so much emotion into that live performance.
I had to laugh throughout this video leading up to Party Shots because I knew what was coming 😂 The fandom went a little nuts when Party Shots was released in 2017 on his Japanese album called Party Shots, like what is this crazy noise?! He really let loose to the point of JYP himself questioning whether Wooyoung went too far in the MV. 🤣 There’s a MV making video, btw. However, once you see a live performance, you’ll see it was absolutely written to be performed live. I’ve been in the audience for it and the energy in the building buzzes off the charts. There are two performances during his party Shots tour, and he doesn’t sing the encore version (wears a blue hat and shirt in the thumbnail), but it’s so hilariously Wooyoung. I actually like the remix version better, musically.
Fun note: when Wooyoung set up his current IG account, he did it to share live content. IG is notoriously terrible for notifications, so fans complained. Now, whenever he plans to do anything live, he tweets 얘들아 to give us a heads up. (Eng trans: Hey guys) He rarely tweets anymore, so we flip out when he shows up 😂 I was so tickled that he used it in a song.
There is no one like him, and I’m glad you’re taking your time to get to know him. You’ve only scratched the surface of Wooyoung.
Comment about his body - he has the most balanced proportions in 2PM, but he’s the leanest, so he looks smaller than the others (same height as Junho and Jun.K). He also hates lifting weights at a traditional gym (Grown album era trauma probably 😂), now opting for Pilates workouts that are good for his dancing.
Hottest are an older fandom, age wise, and Japanese Hottest especially. I’d say the average age of Japanese Hottest is 40s. We live our lives and (most fans) try to let them live theirs. Wooyoung has actually started scolding us lately, telling us to stop streaming and doing all the things younger fandoms are obsessed with these days.

Perfectly written. Wooyoung is a free spirit and his fans esp Jangppas usually are those of the same spirit. New fans might find his music weird or not trendy but that is just his identity. But usually once you know him, he is so lovable. Wooyoung shown his humane side and we love him for that. You cannot dictate what he supposed to do, just like his hair styles so Hottest has learn to wait with bated breath on what concept he will come out with for his next comeback.
Wooyoung and Jun.K are my two biases in 2PM and my two favourite soloists too 😊 glad that you reacted to this album. He is a very thoughtful person and his inner world is very interesting, Wooyoung is such a mood I totally connect with the way he thinks, his abstract thoughts and everything!!

When it comes to 2PM, I implore you not to miss out on their Japanese solo (& also group) albums. But especially their solo albums. I know in kpop the first instinct is to check out the artist's Korean discography, and I don't want to come off that 2PM are 'different than other groups.' But many ways they are because of how closely rooted their history is in Japan. They were given a lot more opportunities to explore the solo artist side of them over there instead of Korea for so many years. You will also begin to notice that a lot of their Korean albums will contain songs that were released prior on their Japanese albums (though Jun. K is a bit of an exception, his discography is a bit more varied in which country he releases songs in first). Their Japanese albums are at times even more cohesive than their Korean albums imo because that is when we were first introduced to many of their solo songs.
In your reaction you were wondering how could Wooyoung start with a song like I Like in the same album as Party Shots, and that's because Party Shots (& also Going Going) were first released in Japan. 2PM like to add a few Korean versions of many of their Japanese songs to their Korean releases because they were originally written in Korean, and imo they sound great in both languages. You'll find that with Junho's two 'Best' albums he released in Korea, as well as many songs on his Canvas & Feel (KRN) releases. It's similar for Jun. K's 77-1X3-00 special album, Love & Hate (KRN), and a couple songs that were on his 20 Mins album you recently reacted to (Comma and Ms. No Time).
That said, I think the album that 100% aligns with your taste will be Woo's まだ僕は… (Mada boku wa) album. There you will hear all the breathy Wooyoung goodness that I know you'll love (like so many of us - myself included). The other great thing about 2PM's Japanese discography is that you can find live performances of 99.9% of their songs (with super high quality footage~), because of the concert culture emphasis in Japan.
Also regarding Wooyoung's Bye album, I'm sure a few other Hottest will tell you once they get a chance to watch your reaction, but this was a monumental release for him because it was the first time he really opened up. Wooyoung was always a very private person, but he decided to share a bit more of himself before he went off to complete his military duty. I think that's why he decided to release things like the I Like commentary you watched as a way to share his vulnerability and his deeper feelings with fans. For the album photoshoot he also took photos inside his home which he never really revealed before (if you watch the 'Real 2PM' My House specials where the members shared the inside of their homes Wooyoung just kept the camera pointed at his bed's headboard the entire video 😂. I recommend you watch those Real 2PM videos btw, they will give you some great insight to all the member's personalities).
@@TheRestIsHistory87 this really was huge for him! He was incredibly private, even earning the nickname 404 Not Found 😂 But he started opening up just before he left. Still, I’m continuously shocked at how much of himself he’s shared since he came back. He must feel safe and certainly more secure.
@@2PM2PM2PM I'm still always shocked whenever he uploads selfies on his insta (& doesn't delete them 😂). It's been such a pleasure to witness his post-military transformation, as well as a comfort. I feel like this has been his way of reassuring fans of his own personal contentedness, and the positive outlook to expect for the years to come.
@@TheRestIsHistory87 his 20s were hard but he’s embraced all that experience and is finding a more comfortable life in his 30s. I’m also kind of glad that he’s shared some personal things that have made his past actions make more sense, from something as deep as depression to his reasons for not wanting to maintain SMS accounts. My favorite new thing of his is his dance content, though. He would never have done that before the military. I’m just so happy he’s happy these days.

For Wooyoung's first album '23, male, single', it's quite a JYP style album. It released in 2012, and has the famous 'Sexy lady'. As 2pm member first solo music, it is a successful move. But if you want to feel more about his composing and vocals, you should listen to his Japanese album Mada boku wa (まだ僕は…), especially the concert. Really love the vocal and the perfomance on the stage.
By the way, in 2022 fancon 115430, Jun. k and Wooyoung had a great performance together. They sang their solos and group/unit songs, including Dj got me crazy, going going, party shots. VOD in beynd live is not out yet, but there are many fancam videos in ytb.

I love Don't Act so much, I felt so much pain and all other complicated emotions rolled into one when I first heard it. Wooyoung is very comfortable with speaking his mind and feelings, and he had once talked about his experiences with different relationships on a VLive before. The fans in the chat were all chill and empathising, and it created a wonderful, genuine safe space for the moment.
So I do agree that it is a 2PM thing where they feel comfortable mentioning relationships. Hottests generally are fine with this revelation from them, which I must say isn't quite the norm for other fandoms. Personally I want them all to find someone to share a happy comfortable life with, and I know the rest of my fellow Hottests do as well. ☺

I think "I like" is my absolute favourite from him. The lyrics, his rapping/speaking, it's just perfect for me. I'm glad you watched this kind of behind the scenes of it, because listening to what Wooyoung has to say about it (and other things) makes it even better. He's such an interesting person. I like listening to him when he shares his thoughts. "I like the way his mind works" - I feel the exact same way. Regarding the first mini album - DJ Got Me Going Crazy is my favourite thing from it. Sexy Lady was the title track, and the video is flashy - but it didn't feel like Wooyoung, you know? It was definitely JYP. Wooyoung has grown up quite a bit since then, and I am definitely a fan of the later more exploratory music he has done. I love that he is trying to find himself through music, and that he allows us to watch and listen as he does so.
Don't Act is my favourite song from this album, but Party Shots on stage is the bom diggety. I'm not apologising for that dated reference; the live performance of Party Shots is just that good.
Let us objectify him for a minute. He is 178 cm or 5'10" but apparently has bird bones - there exists footage of him on Dream Team trying to zipline across an obstacle but getting stuck in the middle because he was too light to generate enough momentum. LOL. But to my mind he has the best, most balanced (beautifully proportioned) body, and there is background footage of the Men's Health photoshoot to support this. He is objectively gorgeous. Going to watch that video again now.

Thank you for this precious video. I'm glad Wooyoung is getting known more. Wooyoung's music is sometimes a hidden treasure because Wooyoung really dislike the term trend. I like him since in middle school now in my mid 20s, I understand more of his worldview. The world is too fast to catch up and sometimes you lost your identity trying to amalgamate with the trend. But having him as my bias, I learnt to stop and pause and to live my life as I want it to be.

Btw, watching Party Shots, I suddenly remembered his story (during their Go Crazy album promotion) about him coming home after drinking a lot and he threw up everywhere on his bed (i think he was drinking something red?) and his mom was frantic thinking it was blood. Anyway, I just suddenly imagined it happened after filming Party Shots...😅 I don't know why that story suddenly popped in my head.
Also, understanding the lyrics behind "Hey", I really don't want to ruin the mood but I have mixed feelings in that it depressed & at the same time made me happy & proud because I suddenly remembered that time in his life when he was kind of lost & it felt to me like he wrote "Hey" after he got out of that phase of his life. But Hey! Wooyoung is now happier, so Party Shots everyone 🙌
