[TAS] Fulgore 80 hits ultra combo

This is done without the broken ultra and only takes advantage of the classic linker bug. It also uses a precise timing issue in the game that allows juggle fireballs to hit an opponent exactly as he touches the ground, allowing the combo to resume on the ground. See my other videos to understand how to make slower fireballs.
Done with save states on MAME.

The Best Killer Instinct Ever!
First time I've ever seen something this epic before. It really has left me astonished.
Yes, the game is broken. Most of the long, hard combos in this game will never be played in a true setting (stage position, timer, player 2 cooperation). They are interesting to do on their own and pretty aesthetic to watch, that's all. What's interesting here is using the game as it is to try to make cool looking combos that are pretty imaginative. Competitive play in that game is so broken, you have to forbid players to do certain things in order for it to be slightly interesting.
No game now days can surpass this game

Very nice timing on the combos. I have dedicated at least half of my life to Killer Instinct and never could get used to the combos that other fighters could pull off. Very well done on the combos.
ki was my fav fighting game of all time. im a hardcore street fighter fan but ki had a glow like no other. i enjoyed going to the arcade back in 95 and rare putting ki on snes when they promised us the ultra 64 was a BIG LET DOWN!! but i still got ki for snes and played the shit out of it. lost my killer cuts cd but got them in mp3. good fucking times!!
The eye beams are slowed down using the reflect more with the smallest punch button. Play pong with them a bunch and you get a very slow fireball.

Bro, I used to play KI on the Arcade all those years ago...And believe me me and my friends were dedicated to playing whenever possible... That 80 hit combo was FUCKING AWESOME. Nice reactions.

Thats some hardcore timing dude. A Barcade by me finally got KI1 so i been ultra'ing the shit out of everyone there, but man I would make some mouths drop if i could pull this off. And probably spend like 500$ in tokens worth just to get the timing right

I grew up playing this game and the first time I'm seeing fulgore's 80. That was ridiculous bruh

Holy fuckin shit. I remember I used to think I was good at this game until one day when a couple of lawyers were at the arcade just watching some of the guys play. Suddenly one of them stepped up and sent everyone home. With Sabrewulf. Eventually the other one went up and they spent some two hours playing, training combos and shit. I tried a few matches with them. Couldn't even MOVE my character onscreen.
I guess that's what I find most amazing about Killer Instinct. It really rewards training.

I agree to a degree.
That is why the broken ultra is never used in my combos.
This uses bugs, but makes something that is cool to watch and extremely dififcult to play. There is less repetition than what you think you see... most similar moves cannot be timed in the same way and the small calibrations in the combo are quite painful.
I use save states, quite simply.
I explore the possibilites with those. Knowledge of the game and some imagination help a lot. Mostly, deductive reasoning + will to make a huge combo

I know you said you used savestates but this, without a doubt, took hours (at least) of dedication to get just right, I'm sure. Did you slow this down at all? I mean, to get precise timing, did you slow down the game?

Might as well explain it here...
On the arcade version, Fulgore can reflect fireballs at 3 different speeds. With QCB+1, it is reflected slower. Fulgore vs Fulgore means you can slow them downs lots of times.
To juggle with them, you need special fireballs. They are the juggle fireballs shot only at the end of a combo, or the second or third fireball from F,B,B,QCF+1. They can hit opponents mid-air, others cannot.

Hahaha, thanks for your comment, I remember those days... I was never very good at the arcade, but owning the machine later did help me a bit. Keep in mind that this combo has yet to be played without save states. If you want to see the true master's playing skill, check out KIG666's videos. TJ 55 ans Spinal 48 are ridiculous.

With Fulgore, you also have to be close enough for the eyelasers in the middle of the ultra to hit. That can be accomplished by simply walking while the guy is in the air and doing the ultra at the right time. Dashing might help tighten the timing for you, as it did for me. Some players (see KIG666) mastered this and don't need any timing help to perform this. I, for one, was almost never able to land this correctly. Don't forget this was done using save states.
my friend dough he was the only one in middle school who had a computer with net access and he would print out the ki faq and sell em to people in school. guy made a killing and u could always find his ass at cloverleaf bowling alley. lol. hell people use to post online what arcade they play at and u could go meet up. those days are so over. that magic is long gone. dont even get hyped over games no more like back in the day. goldeneye was the last game i creamed my pants over. i miss that magic

The problem is not with which charge move you use, but with accurate timing.
I don't remember which charge I used, it is very probable teh medium one (maybe the quick too). I used it to help my timing, but it doesn't work wonders.
You have to hit the ultra exactly as the opponent touches the ground.
Too soon, it's an air ultra (happens with Thunder and TJ combo, too).
Too late, the opponent lies flat on the ground.

No. The tricks used are:
-the linker bug
-juggle fireball pong slowdown
-bridge uneven ground that allows standing hits wih fireballs.

I use MAME's dump video frames feature, so when I tape a combo, it is CPU intense and the game slows down. It helps for some hard parts, but doesn't for others. It's really NOT like actually playing the combo.

He also has mastered every combo he posts in true play, whereas I didn't even play most. There is a huge difference! My combos are suggestions, his combos are reality.

I remember when I was playin single player against Fulgore, He pulled this shit on me, Like a damn 55 Hit Combo. I was just sittin there lookin at the screen while he bludgeoned the hell outta my guy. I like "Did it glitch or something? Seriously wtf."
The most the computer will ever do is about 21 hits.
if it does have those same bugs then that combined with supers and the double ultra could lead to 200+ hits.

Sabrewulf and Glacius are really cool though, you have to admit it. I have to wonder what Fulgore will be in KI3. This is assuming the game doesn't bomb due to xbone.

It certainly has some eye candy and snappy action. Might be hollow, might be buggy enough to have interesting single player combo puzzling to make out. We'll have to wait and see... If some combos take real skill to pull off, I'm sure people will put some effort in it... However, instant bug patching might simply kill everything before it can be fun...

You should practice similar air-ultra "grounded" combos with Thunder first, it is MUCH easier to time, and still quite difficult. If you need any more info, PM me.

This is nice and all because of the linker bug, but EVERYONE know Cinder has the game breaker 185 hit Ultra. Glacius had the infinite combo breaker.
what's the sequence to achieve the move where after the combo, Fulgore kicks the other guy twice, then transports himself to the other side of the screen and uppercuts the opponent to the opposite side??? low kick, medium kick, fierce kick???
