I loved hearing your story. I’m currently 6 months pregnant with my egg donor baby. I’m feeling so down thinking about how my baby will someday want to go find her donor and establish some sort of relationship and look at her as her mom. Or if she won’t think of me as her mom. These things would be heartbreaking for me. I don’t feel a connection yet. I want to, but I don’t. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m subconsciously guarding my heart from the certain pain of these things I think are coming.
Have you been able to bond with your baby? Love deeply and have no regrets?
I am planning to go through egg donation and that is my big fear but so far what I could find, most children (egg donated) when they meet their donors consider them like aunts, a person genetically connected but not their mothers, so that is a bit relief for me.
Think of it like adoption (just a more extreme version). Yes the child will want to meet their biological parents. But the child will be receiving love from two sets of parents.
2 years later! Not like adoption at all. I’m her mom, her only mom, and she is my baby!
@tiffanyhays5706 she has a biological mum. You're her birth mum. Both are important. It's adoption with extra steps. Love is more important than possession.
It took me a while to wrap my head around it too. But the more love a child receives the better. Some children don't even get two parents!
