For some reason the first and second Dr, Who intros are my favorite even though it's black and white ... to be honest i never really watched the show hardly except for the intro ... there must've been reruns in the 70s because i remember seeing it on TV when i was a young kid ... for the longest time the color versions didn't look like color because we still had a B+W TV! Craig Ferguson did a Dr. Who tribute on the late late show and despite it being fairly corny the sound of the music itself was done very well especially when you compare it to the original themes!

My late aunt; Judith Byfield (6th September 1951 - 20th May 1989) played the part of Angela Clifford in Time-Flight which was the seventh and final serial of the 19th season.
It broadcast from the 22nd to 30th March 1982.
Whilst Time Flight isn’t the best serial, I feel immensely proud to have a family connection to the franchise.
She also appeared in Bergerac (1981) & also Wuthering Heights (1978).

Nothing is more evocative of absolute, abject terror than the sound of Doc 4's theme at 3:22 coming on the TV when I was seven years old when my mom would watch Dr. Who on WGBH out of Boston in the early '80s. Seeing Tom Baker's floating head on the screen and hearing that viscerally horrific music would set me to running and hiding instantly... but I would always come back to sneak a peek to see a Dalek or two! They rehash and remix the same part of the theme for a majority of the openings, but I think the opening at 1:47 is when we get more of the expanded theme. It’s very briefly heard in an opening before that, but it’s fading away. It’s then more in the forefront of the TV movie version you like.
