Ha ha! Once when working away from home, a coworker had a turkey call. Our foreman made the mistake of shouting at the worker not to play with it on the job. That night, when we got our rooms at the hotel, the worker held back, then made certain he got a room next to the foreman’s. He said he made a big pot of coffee, and stayed up all night making turkey sounds. That hotel had thin walls too. I still laugh about it 40 years later.

My neighbor and I have a jerk living between us we take turns playing this. It really upsets the Turkeys.
They get all riled up in my yard then I stop playing it and he calls them over and the guy in between us is dealing with really pissed off birds

It’s a female yelp call, the guy who made this video was using a mouth call at the beginning of the video to make the sounds you can hear when the turkeys aren’t making any sound, then switched over to a box call to do some yelping at that as well. Both are yelps, just two different tones since he switched to a different call.

One day I will hunt a Merriam turkey, I think they are the beat looking of all the subspecies. Only been blessed to hunt Eastern, and Rio’s so far, maybe try for a slam also! Love hearing him spitting, I was blessed enough this year, and achieved my first bow kill on an Eastern, and he came in spitting like this.

ALLways good to watch nature in action, however, I'd be ok to throw in some narration for us beginners. Sure I've got lucky 8-10 times over the years. But I emphasize the word lucky. I'd like to think that I can call, but I know nothing about what call when. ( & Who doesn't like to shake the day lights out of the 'ol gobble call?

There’s been a female Turkey that’s been coming to my front door, yesterday a couple days earlier this week, couple days the following. It’s looking to get in on birdseed and peanuts. Sometimes when all my neighbors at this complex actually aren’t running out to harass the song birds but it’s still just dead silent, I kinda know she’s out there. She doesn’t bother the song birds, barely notices them. Guessing they know she’s an alpha bird. Sad though, seems she hurt her foot. She was trying to not put pressure on it yesterday. But yup. Every early morning and evening. Once I think she had brought her mate. He was standing a distance, close enough to watch over her though in front of the car. Then one of my Chinese neighbors (not even just a man child who comes to his elderly father and mother so he gets a free male. Sad really. Thought it was the younger generations job to take care of the elderly...) ANYWAY! He walks around like he belongs here and they left as soon as they saw him. He scared away all the birds and any other animal 🙈 Haha. Summer ive seen foxes, skunks, and all kinds of birds. A Turkey though? I was shocked. But now she’s another one of my wild “pets” her name is Penny Lane (yes I’m vegetarian)
