  • Good Times Cast Then and Now 2024 | How They Changed since 1974
Welcome to Stunning Memories, the channel where we take a nostalgic look at some of the most iconic TV shows and movies of the past. In this video, we will revisit the cast of Good Times, the groundbreaking sitcom that aired from 1974 to 1979 and featured the first African-American, two-parent family on a major network. We will see how the actors who played the Evans family and their friends have changed over the years and what they are doing now in 2024.
Good Times was created by Mike Evans and Eric Monte, and developed by Norman Lear, the legendary producer behind All in the Family, Maude, and The Jeffersons. The show starred Esther Rolle as Florida Evans, the strong and loving matriarch of the family, John Amos as James Evans Sr., the hard-working and proud father, Jimmie Walker as J.J., the eldest son and aspiring artist, BernNadette Stanis as Thelma, the smart and sassy daughter, and Ralph Carter as Michael, the youngest son and social activist. The show also featured Ja’net DuBois as Willona Woods, the Evans’ neighbor and friend, and Johnny Brown as Nathan Bookman, the building superintendent.
Good Times was a hit with audiences and critics alike, earning several awards and nominations, including a Golden Globe nomination for Rolle, an Emmy Award for DuBois, and an Emmy nomination for Amos. The show also tackled serious issues such as poverty, racism, crime, and unemployment, while balancing them with humor and warmth. The show’s theme song, composed by Dave Grusin and sung by DuBois, became a classic and is still remembered today.
But what happened to the cast of Good Times after the show ended? Where are they now in 2024? Watch this video to find out and don’t forget to subscribe to Stunning Memories for more videos like this. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more!

The facts on this one were wrong in some spots: like the last woman was Larry's mom(a smart chjIb that had trouble hearing that almost fell into the elevator shaft). And, the older Larry was Thelma's almost fiancee that had to leave to take a job and Thelma chose family over him at the last moment. Gossett had an uncle role, too.
Larry the chjIb was missing. Mad Dog and his crew were missing(JJ was shaht in one of these episodes). The 1st social worker was missing(one of the 1st Penny episodes). Diana's parents were missing. Dunbar and his gangster benefactor were missing. James' parents were missing. James' friend(Duckfoot) was missing. Florida's cousin Raymond was missing. The shady supermarket employee was missing. Sweet Daddy's main thugs were missing. J.J.'s crew(Fearsome 4some) was missing, as well.
Thelma's popular gjrIfriend(high school mate) that later played Quincy's mom in Love and Basketball was missing and her ex--the basketball superstar--who tried to commit suaside was missing! The funeral cast(like James' coworkers and the mortician) was missing. JJ's pushy date who was the boss' daughter was missing. White JJ was missing(white dream). JJ's "smoking" hot date is missing(each tells a different version of the story--where Penny was influenced by JJ's date). Alderman Davis and his niece(appeared in the bus driver episode) were missing.
Cindy and Cindy's presumptuous, possibly slightly racist parents were missing(the black-white roomate and shacking episode in the 70s where the dad ran afoul of Keith; they didn't mind them shacking together like modern Republicans might have, but were racist like some modern liberals?!). The black power cast(Thelma's college mates--one of them was a loudmouth and another was Will's future mom on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air). The gold-brick Contessa was missing(later in Moesha and the current Abbott Elementary). TC(the alternative date to the Contessa) was missing. JJ's shady roomates are missing(doepe sellers). Cousin Cleatus was missing. JJ's other woman and her other man were missing(JJ's lover refused to choose between he and Ernie). Penny's birth mom and her companion were missing. The dog food eating Gertrude was missing, too...
