Never stick someone with your only knife....and walk away leaving it embedded in their eye....just an idea
Yeah we noticed that a little too late, I think our script supervisor was just slacking off a bit haha
Didn't check the other guys for supplies either.
Yes definitely always get back a good knife.
An eye dea
oop's did u see the way he threw the radio away.....not for the enviroment.....bad boy...
Yeah you definitely deserve the praise. Much much better than most of the award winners. I liked the mild flavor of disassociation. You didn't overdo it nor vilify it either. Thanks!
Liked movie, didn't start liking main character until partner started showing his weakness. Satisfied with the end, and almost desolate surroundings.
Sometime someone's weakness can be a real strength with that being said I'll go watch the movie now
This was pretty damn good writing with a moral ending, something most short films in this genre don't exhibit. If I had any criticism, it's the gas mask for the main character. It makes no sense, even if it had filters, there's no setup for why it might be necessary. Anyway, hope you guys keep making movies, great job!
Ngl this deserves an oscar… this was amazing
Thank you! We did our best :)
Loved this a lot. Shots and music were incredible and i'd love to see a sequel following this character with more world building+character development
Yes Definitely an A+ . Great Work on a Valuable Tic's & Tac's on Valuable life saving info . ..." TRUST NO ONE "
GREAT SHORT MOVIE . 🤑
This was really really good, you guys have a serious knack for filmmaking. Hats off to whoever was the cinematographer and composer, it really felt like I was watching a high budget Hollywood movie but the familiar locations would remind me that people my age made this. Great job on this.
Funny you should mention Hollywood. I just saw a Scott Adkins movie Close Range from this set opening scene. Kinda cool.
The composer is Paul McCartney, the song has been around for decades
A+ film - survival to the end.
EXCELLENT! I've literally watched 10.000 + movies.
BASICALLY its for kids.
Straight up bad ass. Absolutely enjoyed this movie.
Good ending for a post-apoc flick! Always count your bullets! Nice little film - the mood was great, everything well framed, etc. Keep it up!
Always??'...
🤔
Well done. Very good sound track.
WOW that was good! Great camera work, solid story with an unpredictable ending. Nice job.
Outstanding A+ and a thumbs up I really enjoyed the ending .
I've watched a lot of Apocalypse and disaster short films and this is the best I've seen!
I seem to remember this from a year or two ago, or something quite similar. Very good!!! Thanks for posting!!!
Great job guys ! You'll learn from your mistakes with each movie you do. Keep it up !
the irony isn't lost on this viewer that the most developed social structure we see IS the war-band. They are the best bet for founding a new society.
U obviously are very ignorant on human development over time
Good movie, happy ending!
3:48 This would make an awesome painting. It is quite a still shot with amazing scenery.
Yes it would!
My room has a post-apocalyptic theme, this would fit in well as a painting. . .
I loved it especially cause short films like this are less common nowadays.
really liked the whole film , especially the ending .
Pretty good, well done and thanks for sharing.
Obviously the Main character had been alone for quite some Time!!! So since all Supplies of any Form are most assuredly in Short Supply. Why then had he after Killing 8 People not taken EVERYTHING THAT THEY HAD??????????
And I've looked at the other comments what other people have said.
They love what you're doing you're on the right track don't give up no one ever hits it right off the bat.
Judging from what everyone has been saying on these comments you all did well all that are involved in this movie. There are loopholes and things to always keep in mind and don't let it get you down I'm watching the movie and subscribing because I want to see more Movie Makers continue like you guys did what you did in this film!
@Karl with a K Agreed. What are they thinking?
please make a series of this this being the pilot episode.
AMAZING.
Loved the pace and the music fit perfectly
Thank you bro!! I definitely learned a whole ton of stuff about the filmmaking process through our old short films we used to make together, which really did help me with this film :D
@@yosefbenzion yea those old ones where not to bad
Just rewatched it and realized you still use the same font in the credits
@@yosefbenzion Dude the soundtrack is awesome! Often people just put music as random background when they're making short post-apocalyptic films; but yours follows what's happening in the plot, just like Hollywood movies do, and it's neither too loud nor too soft. The timing is on point!
Thanks, I really enjoyed this!
And awesome soundtrack mixing -- you integrated it really well, it wasn't just music in the background, it reflected the plot and the action on-screen. That's quite rare in post-apocalyptic short films.
Also I liked the contrast between the two main characters. And although the guns are fake, that's one thing I can ignore under "Suspension of Disbelief" when a movie is otherwise well made.
Liked and subbed! 👍
Ah this was so cool!! The apocalyptic vibe was on point and I can tell so much work went into it. Wish I could do big projects like this too, for now I just make short apocalyptic videos for tiktok but maybe someday I’ll be doing this :)
Wonderful shot you did really great
Great movie 🍿🎥
EXCELENT!
great job man, great songs, good shots
Thanks so much, I really appreciate it!
After seeing five post-apocalyptic tropes in the first few minutes--gas mask (filter-less), canned food (no rust), bashing someone's brains in with a crowbar, a map with black X marks, a radio that doesn't work--I was ready to hate on this movie, but I just couldn't. If Fallout Red Star and PUBG got married and had a baby, it would be this film. What's not to love about that? The camera work and voice-over were good, foley and music were great, the comic relief was perfect. I liked this movie against my will, so much that I forgave the bright city lights in the background, the shack with electric power from somewhere, battery-powered flashlights that still work without recharging, shiny-clean clothes, ambient voices in the background when they're in the desert, a guy with a $90 haircut, a weird plastic-looking revolver with no firing pin, and a crew member peeking from inside a tent. You did obey a critical rule of storytelling, though. When mask-man said, "Always count your shots," I thought to myself, that damn well better be foreshadowing, and it was. What a relief! Anyway, despite the rough spots, I think this was wonderful and shows movie-making aptitude. You should keep it up.
Thank you so much for the critique and kind words!!
Good film made even better by the music of Paul McCartney and Wing's Wild Life
I should add that I have shared the film link with two Quora spaces I own and a couple of other spaces for Paul McCartney and or the Beatles
camera work and sounds track are excellent.
this was pretty cool
Not bad y'all, not bad at all... Although it's gotta be the cleanest post apocalypse movie I've ever seen, the brand new backpack and tents...lol, very funny to try to think post apocalypse when looking at brand new gear.
All & all though, pretty enjoyable short... I really liked the countryside you chose to film in and your choice of music was fitting.
And of course, you entertained me and that's what it was made to do, so good job.
Yeah, I noticed that too. New jeans, spotless white t-shirt, spotless white bottom tennis shoes...as you said new tents, etc. I don't understand why he camped at the bottom of the hills instead 'closer' to the top (but not at the very top) where his vantage point would be better, and it is more challenging for the enemy to climb up the hill instead of running down (as evidence in the closing scenes when the enemy was running down the hill at our hero). Or why there were electric lights in the shed. Or why he was wearing a gas mask when no one else was. Or why you would start a fire at night instead of the day....eat your food cold rather than give your location away with a fire at night that can be seen for a mile.
BUT LOVED THE FILM!!! A singular, short. to the point real life exercise. Loved the ending....the kid believes there's "humanity" and wants our hero to submit to that ideology at the risk his life (and trust the enemy); but the kid himself is willing to kill the very person who spared his life, showing humanity, and who was teaching him how to survive the inhumanity of man.
The kid is typical of people who refuse to accept reality; want everyone else to accept their fantasy belief system and live life by their fantasy rules, but then break their own rules in the name of this same ideology thinking this will further this same ideology...ugh? Where I come from these people are generally called...well don't want to get political.
There is so much more to be said, but I am not good at saying it...(guess I'm better at criticizing)...and because of that I respect the effort put into this film. LOVED THIS FILM! LOVED THIS FILM!
@@MaryCasey1100 Thank you so much for such a great comment!
We did our best with our nonexistent budget and limited time and crew members, but are very proud of it and the deeper message that seems to hide under the surface!
We’ve learned a lot from this project and will continue to grow and get better because of it.
Thanks again!
Really enjoyed this movie. After he saved the guy and taught him how to survive the guy turned on him. Yep, very good movie.
Yeah, the dude was an idealist in an unidealistic world. He proved to be an incurable sort.
Probably the most realistic take on the dog eat dog world
Great job....Peace
This is soooo amazing. Only because it’s important to certain people, there were a lot of details that a survivalist would know *not* to do, while these actions not cause any labor on the narrative to support them. I guess that is what film consultants are for, yeah? Sorry for the bitching, but SERIOUSLY amazing work!
The action is superb 👌so well choreographed
you can't trust anyone in that situation....................... you're better off alone
Enjoyed the movie. Wish it had been longer
👏👏👏😀 congratulations! Is good!
Bravo... my favorite part is when...
No spoilers! 😁
That’s mentryville! I used to live near there and I had a good laugh as I showed my family members.
"The only way to survive in this feral world, is to look out for yourself. ONLY, yourself", that's me.
I believe in you don't stop doing what you're doing
Good short... The crazy part about these apocalypse short is the one guy who always wears this mask like he's Darth Vader...
Damn good!
Well there goes humanity!
good video, thank you
Walks off and leaves his knife, and failed to search the bodies.... definitely won't survive long.
Great ending!!!
Very cool
Well done! Would love to see you do something here in new Orleans!
Loved it will show to friend that the end my look like this
The one thing missing was looting the dead
Good show
Absolutly amazing. But i saw the camerman's shadow
Pretty good 👍🐴🇸🇰
👍💯🔥
That kid was only holding him back anyway... Pointing a gun at him fir protecting him
Awesome 😎
Nice work Yosef (and all those involved) what camera did you guys use? hope you make more of these and perfect your craft :D
Thank you so much for the kind words! The film was shot on a Canon R6 mounted on a DJI RSC 2 gimbal.
Makes me ponder... who's the real animal ?😎🙄😎
Overall, not bad. But you missed some details... For exemple, the window (no bullet hole) in the sniping scene, could be easily done in after effects. Anyway, keep it up!
The guy's packing a cheapie hand pump single shot .177 caliber pellet rifle!
That is the first time I have seen an auto revolver, Cool
A Very Nice Movie 👍
Wheew that was a good ending.
Has the feel of book of eli or the road. Also reminded me ALOT of fallout new vegas.
Main character didn't have a filter on his mask, but I'd rather have something over nothing, plus it conceals identity. Eh?
GOOD ONE
this is garbarge. dog barking, you did not hide, you are wide open and now you are dead
Makes me want to play dayz, this is just like that game.
The music was great is there going to be any more to this or was this the only one. I will subscribe to find out but if there's not anymore and I may unsubscribe we'll see
At one point, it looks like they were trying not to laugh, (the scene where they're contemplating a plan to kill the protagonist) almost broke character. Lol, other than that I enjoyed watching this short movie. Subscribed! 👍
make a full length feature film please.
One day!
I second this request 🙏🏽
Many post-apocalyptic short movies lose my attention early on, so I don't watch the whole thing. But yours kept me watching.
Good short movie
The ultimate survival rifle: The Daisy Powerline. LOL
silliness
that guy was pain in ass i swear naive 0 rational at the end even wanted to kill the guy with Gas mask for what defending himself against an ambush😂
Very true a knife is a hard tool to re place even you have more of them 😉🤣😉
Better props would have made this movie better, but the writing sent it up! the director should look into realistic airsoft guns next film, I'll bet a dealer would loan a few out in trade for mention in the credits!
Good but childish cause needs much more activities with honest acting
Crossman pellet gun used by main character..
Right on nephew, next time count your shots!👍
Why wear a respirator when you nknt need to? Do you know what it's like to wear one?
Good effort, but you could do with a military/survival consultant. You will all get better with experience. Still, better than most t movies being made today. I like the motivation!
I forgot this was an indie film lol
i had no idea darth vader was in a different movie ! what a hero, all with a respirator on - it was ok, but i didnt see the hero looking for anything conducive to life, car, food, new canister for his respirator, females - i suggest if you are ever in this situation, dont be so mean to your pencil, it might break, then what ?
No fence you're using pellet guns
Sorry about my lack of intelligence, but why some guys use gasmask and others don´t?
I swear I know that place... pretty sure the location is the hills near Santa Clarita. The old red barn is a place I’d been too, I believe it is the location of one of the settlements of one of the original oil barons of California. Or maybe I’m wrong ...
Yup, you’re right!
@@yosefbenzion great location for a apocalyptic production. During my short time in those hills I felt there were many stories that could be told there. Seems hard to find such a location that isn’t straight desert anymore. From what I’ve heard some (if not all) of that area is already in the sights of developers - all to be made subdivisions and houses for urban sprawl - sad really.
This short film might become a “documentary” of sorts of what that place once was, to only later be flattened by human civilization growth.
We need development but sometimes I wonder at what cost?
Anyways, sorry for the unrequested lament. For any “issues” people have, it really is great time capsule there, intended or not.
@@scottwolf3973 Thank you so much! I don’t think we had that on our minds while we were filming, but I really do love this perspective on it.
As much as it is a story about the destructive aftermath of mankind, the locations the story takes place in almost feels like somewhere still untouched by humanity.
@@yosefbenzion Oh, I totally forgot to mention how much I loved the ending. Great writing, some might say “dark” but I love it and think it is perfect:
The hopeless romantic wants the suffering and pain to end and the pragmatic anti-hero delivers EXACTLY what was asked for - the end of that characters anguish.
It reminds me of the story of the Monkeys paw, or any classical versions of the genie in a bottle.
Wishes are always at a cost, we just don’t always know where and to whom the bill is delivered.
Seriously, I love how you ended it. Deeper than it appears at first glance.
Bravo.
18:28 electricity works in a post apocalyptic world..!!!! How is it post apocalypse then
If you can hire me I can probably make it look very real. And I would do it for free being a Movie Maker myself don't give up never surrender no prisoners!
Why would you leave your knife in the guy you threw it at?
Why was he waring what looked like a child’s party cape
What paint ballers do on the weekend.
Green Acres just isn't what it used to be.
