I play guitar and people don't realize how hard it is to play R-evolve and sing at the same time, that's why he started strumming chords instead of single notes in the beginning.
It's pretty sad when your fans want to hear you play the old songs that impacted and enhanced their lives over the years, and you refuse and give us some lame ass excuse on why you can't play them anymore. It's a shame that such gorgeous songs like Oblivion and R-evolve and countless others off the first two records will never be performed live properly again...those records changed my life..
I think he gradually stopped singing them because he scrapped his voice with their Into The Wild tour. If you listen to live videos of them over months and years between 2009 and 2014, you can clearly hear that his voice is weakening. He's no longer able to reach high notes and scream easily. He completely changed his way of singing. Aaaaand that's it. With his age, he maybe wants to disconnect from his "less mature" songs too.
This vid kinda makes me want to cry kinda... he says LLFD is really the first record but like what about the other 3? And Ik it’s their music and they get to play whatever they want I respect that a lot but it’s just those songs mean a lot to sum people y’know including me but I just wish they didn’t shove those songs away. I respect the way they do things it’s their music but just the way he talked about those songs in the beginning kinda hurt. Idk but I love them no matter what even tho I don’t like their latest stuff I still like them as people and respect their decisions 🖤
