It’s our steadfast commitment to leading the industry in uptime and a fresh way of looking at engine design. With a new team and fresh ideas we set out to deliver the ultimate 12.4-liter engine.
This engine looks very promising. International is doing a lot to gain their lost customers from the maxxforce. This is a beautiful engine. Time will tell.
I'm in a 2019 LT with the A26 The engine brake needs to be used during skip shifts at low speeds. It is used from 6 gear and up. On the 12 speeds it tries to skip gears in corners and falls on it's face. International needs to rent a Freightliner with a DT13 engine and DT12 transmission and take notes. The international is almost there and has improved but still needs a few adjustments.
Who was the person that put the electrical grid heater on the intake manifold? That doesn't work on the 570 engines in the 7400s, and it just catches fire after the carbon deposits clog the grid. The grid heaters catch fire the first time they are used after the summer season. The flame start feature is needed to start these engines in the cold. Navistar finally fixed the flame start, and then they got rid of it. What kind of fools are designing these engines?
Says the people who design it so horrendously messy to work on. Pop the hood and look at an HI, then go pop the hood on a Detroit diesel or a Volvo you'll notice a huge difference.
International told us that the EGR coolers can have the cores swapped out. The A26 is an admission that the EGR core swap and the stupid installation tool don't work. The new EGR coolers are welded shut. A bunch of idiots came up with the EGR tools to remove the cores on the truck. The tools don't work. The regional guy told us that the EGR cores would still crack and leak. We should be happy that we can replace the parts faster. The EGR coolers fail faster. These experts need to find another job.
I work for international dealer. As longest you have def in system you will have problems . When it gets cold down to 10 degrees or less even with heaters in def system you will problems I see during winter.

is it next regeneration of MaxForce 13 ?
No.
It is the same base engine as the maxxforce 13, but the EGR system has been updated, no longer twin turbo, with aftertreatment upgrades

They should use both the Duramax, and the 6.7 Powerstroke!

is a joke ,like maxxforce
DID YOU MEAN "MAX FARCE"?
The A26 is everything owner operators and drivers want I can assure you that
I work on this junk everyday there's no hope for diesel techs today. Epa has made it so bad.
Lol they are trash

Good luck making 500 k mileage
This engine is shit and Navistar throws perfect world mpg numbers at bean counters with nothing to show for it. Hit a hill and all that fuel is wasted
You know that happens with any engine in any vehicle right?
