I love the items you use in your daily life (your bike, household items, mugs, clothes etc.). They're all pretty minimalist. I feel like I'm watching a designer. Because I am a designer. I've watched many design videos and none of them live such a selfless life. That's why I know you care about your life. Yo, I'm digging your setup a lot! That minimalist lifestyle is nice, and that systematic approach on how you tackle your day is consistent! I'm currently on my last year of my CS degree here, it's been a tough journey for sure. This is my first video of seeing you, and so far I'm digging your style of content. It's rare to see a fellow Hispanic software engineer, especially on CZcams, but I'm glad to know that they are out there! I really loved your first vlog, your lifestyle is almost exactly how I would like to live as a software engineer (when I finally get the job 😅). That video actually inspired me to consider moving to TX as well, it’s the closest major tech hub to me (I live in AR).
From your experience, how is life in Houston as a software engineer overall (job opportunities, COL, safety, etc)?
Thanks for tuning in to the channel!! 🙌 Is that Arkansas or Arizona? If you're interested in TX for sure check out Austin, though the COL is slightly higher, the high salaries outweigh it. This NerdWallet comparison tool is good www.nerdwallet.com/cost-of-living-calculator/compare/houston-tx-vs-austin-tx.
As far as Houston, I would say it's medium COL, definitely not like NY, LA, or SF. But the pay is slightly lower, so it really depends! It seems like there's ongoing growth into tech here (historically energy company driven). I notice the growing number of tech meetups, and investments from Rice University to try to establish what they call the "Houston Innovation District".
