So happy to see you having a great time at Columbia. Is this your final year or have you 1 more? I was supposed to be in NYC this summer working & traveling, but Covid had other plans. Ah well maybe next summer. :)

This is my final year! I was meant to spend two years here, but I spent my junior year online in Ireland. I’ll take advantage of my 1 year for sure!! I hope you get here next year!!

Hey girl! I'm a GS student at Columbia, you said you went from May until May, I'm thinking of doing the same thing and will therefore be a senior. Did you experience burnout? Thanks!

Hi! So sorry for the late reply! And honestly, no I didn't, as I found the classes I took in the summer to not be as intense as I was expecting. They were also really interesting, so definitely try get classes that seem cool to you!

Hey Jane, I wanted to ask you whether English literature is worth studying. I really enjoy reading, but i get easily overwhelmed by the amount of books we read in school, so i’m in a dilemma:/
Also, all the projects you have to write as as an English student, is it really worth it?
I would like to study in Trinity College as well, but i’m afraid that I won’t get accepted, because i’m not a native speaker( i’m from Luxembourg)

I think it’s really worth it, but that’s because I love it so much! The thing is, to study literature you don’t have to love reading or love everything you read. You won’t find everything you read easy, but the key to enjoying studying literature is loving analysing, close reading and critical thinking. Do you like the subject english/literature in school? If so, then that’s a good start. And there are lots of non-native speakers at trinity studying English!
