This song’s vocal melody was definitely meant to be performed this way. Something in its structure just seems to fall into place very neatly into basic up-down open chords of an acoustic guitar. I like to think it’s about yin yang balance into things. The vocal melody is so busy with absolutely well sculptured curves of ups and downs in each line she gives out with passionate expression. To compliment that, well, a tenor sized acoustic guitar strumming a simple swing common time beat just going up/down open and bar chords all captured in only a few microphones with barely any mixing. Music is beautifully chaotic but organized just like everything should be and is in life and the world.
