I'm from Iraq and I appreciate very much your video about the Mesopotamian civilization. Most American people do not know about Iraq's glorious history. thank you 🌹
Humanity’s greatest first civilizations were in that region and those ancient cultures still have an immense influence today. Despite Iraq’s perception from Americans in the modern day, it has one of the richest histories and cultures in the world. Truly a mesmerizing and extremely consequential place!
I've always been interested in Sumerians and Mesopotamia, but unfortunately most others aren't because our history books in school don't cover them as extensively as say Eqypt, Greece, or Rome. I believe it should absolutely be covered as it bares importance to ancient and modern humanity as a whole. Also, I believe we have to stop looking at the Middle-Eastern Empires as the "villians" as they also share similarities to modern democracy and civil liberties like modern society.
All in all, I share your sentiments.
Dude this video is about a British dude named Carl. What are you talking about Iraq and Mesopotamia for?
Middle East ,Persia and Egypt was the centre for civilization for thousand of years.
US only existed for 245 years and they think they are so great and the greatest in mankind history.
Amal it’s because of us, we as a semitic people who speak a very similar language to Akkadian and live in Mesopotamia didn’t do enough to restore our ancient civilization and turn Iraq to its rightful position, but this will change soon because many young iraqi have a great knowledge of our ancient past and will bring the ancient traditions again as soon as our generation takes up the power from the old uneducated generation of the past.

Can you do one on Joe Medicine Crow. He was a Native American writer, historian and war chief of the Crow Nation and the last Plains Indian war chief, which he managed to achieve while serving in WWII completing all four tasks required to become a war chief: touching an enemy without killing him (counting coup), taking an enemy's weapon, leading a successful war party, and stealing an enemy's horse and this is only part of this True Native American Badass.
No bone spurs here.
and those were just his martial accomplishments. don't forget to mention that the was also a tribal historian and a keeper of memories. he also lectured at universities and wrote several books (including one for children).
Sargon’s birth story has some odd similarities to Moses’. The hidden origins of their mothers. Both were set adrift in a basket of rushes on the river before being discovered and taken in.
And Joseph, with his visions etc
Jesus is also similar in many ways to many mythological religious figures from other religions in the region.
A child set out in a river ony to be found and raised by someone of a higher social status is a common trope of ancient Near Eastern stories
@@fyeahusa And I'm sure that made people actually do that if they had no other choice than to abandon a child. Life imitates art, back than as much as nowadays.

Isn’t it interesting that the story of Sargon, being sent down the river is a very familiar to a biblical story that comes to mind.
What makes it more interesting is that Moses is the person who complied the Pentateuch (first five books of the Torah/Bible)
He tells of Nimrod, which no one recognizes this time but the descriptions of cities conquered and built and being the first one to be a major conquering force- was Sargon.
Moses was most likely a title since others in the Pharaohs household had Moses in their title/name. Meaning drawn out from the water. But Egypt did decree to kill Hebrew babies, they threw them in the river and alligators ate them. So hoping to place him in a basket and the daughter might save him is not such an outrageous thing in the ancient world.
I’m guessing in the ancient world were drowned or floated down the river and adopted as a foundling. No agencies back then.
But now you know why God chose to turn the Nile to blood as his first plague- each of the plagues reflected the Egyptians actions or the gods they worshipped. They themselves named the last one.
