- Mark Agnesi runs down the brand new Les Paul Standard 60's Model from Gibsons new "Original Collection."
The new Les Paul Standard returns to the classic design that made it relevant, played and loved -- shaping sound across generations and genres of music. It pays tribute to Gibson's Golden Era of innovation and brings authenticity back to life.
The Les Paul Standard 60's has a solid mahogany body with an AA figured maple top, and a slim taper 60's-style mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard and trapezoid inlays. It's equipped with a classic-style Tune-O-Matic bridge, aluminum stop bar tailpiece, Grover Rotomatic "Kidney" tuners, and gold top hat knobs with silver reflectors.
The Burstbucker 61R (neck) Burstbucker 61T (bridge) pickups are loaded with AlNiCo V magnets, audio taper potentiometers and orange drop capacitors.

I have waited for years to see what was going to happen to Gibson. As soon as the changes came and they got back to making real guitars I got my very first one this month. Les Paul 60’s bourbon burst. Couldn’t be happier.

I can't decide weather to get a 50's or a 60's and I can only got 1 !!! SO HARD !!!
I’m having the same exact exact challenge right now. The 50’s has a warmer tonality in comparison to the 60’s which is slightly brighter in my opinion.
Adjusting the pick-up height and pole pieces within the pick-ups can also alter the sound of course. You could also change the pick-ups entitled as well. Which one did you end up going for?
The 50s but with Grovers would appeal to me

I bought one and am so happy with it, the look, sound and feel are everything I could ever ask for. It came perfectly set up and was ready to play straight away. There are some workmanship problems on mine (mainly cosmetic) which left me a bit disappointed at first, but they don’t affect playability or sound in any way. The neck is super fast too.
Ah finally found Mark. With all the guitar stuff I watch on youtube I don't know how this hasn't shown up on my feed. I had to search Mark and gibson to finally get it. Alright let's do it Mark.
Bought one of these 2 years ago - awesome instrument. Shipped all the way to the UK and the set up hasn’t been altered in those 2 years. That’s how good the guitar felt out the box.

Just here to say I have owned a 60s Standard for 2 years now and I absolutely love everything about it (except the tiny frets, those will get replaced with jumbo frets in the future). It's so much fun to play and the quality is top notch. Gibson is definitely back!
I got one a month ago...two hours of play on it max. Mint for 2200 cash....I love the sound of the burst buckers but i put in a set of Slash Seymour 2.0 Zebras.....crazy maybe but it is one badass guitar. The frets are smaller but quickly adapted.
What a time to be alive! Great to finally see you here. As cool as ever! Just tell the guy who edits the videos that we all want to see what we hear. Non musician editors (even on music videos 🤔) think they can use any shot of guitar playing against the soundtrack... tell them to keep it simple! As in your guitar of the day videos.

Congratulations! I am deciding between these two guitars myself right now. I only want one of them. I love the warmer sound of the 50’s. But, I also love the slimmer neck profile and Grover tuners on the 60’s. It’s quite challenging

Mike Adams not only that but a guitar that finally has a price we can all agree is fair! I can’t believe that the standard with a robot tuner and a mega case was $2500 and that a reissue was $8000 and was the simplest guitar in the world. The funny part is that besides the weight my les Paul classic is the same guitar.

My new Gibson Les Paul 60s model arrives Saturday! Pretty stoked! I've always had cherry/heritage-cherry, this time...Unburst. Almost went for the Bourbon burst to match my Heritage H-535 in vintage wineburst...but decided to change it up for once..haha

Just right, Mark. Just the right amount of player's snark for the Gibson of recent years (without being disdainful of your own new team), rock solid credibility on the spec details that all players love and care about, and the familiar old Agnesi jacket. Knocked it out of the park. The video design folks still need to get up to speed with the off-angle shots (they just didn't work very well), the backing track volume, and would've rather seen you play the track so video and audio are synced (instead of vid of you playing and the other audio track on top). Anyway, great to see you back!
Finally, good marketing from Gibson! Mark is really helping the company!

Love this guitar & the 50’s as well & I’m torn between them because i love the HCS on the 50’s but I like the higher output pickups of the 60’s along with the Grover tuners. I would kill if they would do a 60’s in Heritage Cherry Sunburst!
DUDE!!!!!!!! I had to settle for an Iced Tea finish which is ABSOLUTELY beautiful, but my true DREAM guitar would have been the 60s in a beautiful Cherry Sunburst. Unfortunately it wasn’t possible but my Iced Tea is SOOOO nuts I can’t even explain the tone and I have Explorers and PRS Custom 22 ten tops, and PRS Mcarty.
