Lyrics:
How did you get here? Nobody's supposed to be here
I tried that love thing for the last time
My heart says "No, no." Nobody's supposed to be here
But you came along and changed my mind

Finally! Congratulations Deborah Cox upon your induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. The first Black woman in the 44 year history of this organization! It's about time.
That's awesome 👏👏
What about Tamia? They can't leave her out
@@tvs9978 True that. I don't know how she was overlooked.
Wow that's legendary
Gee whiz, must be on my Canadian greats wave this season. First Glenn Lewis now Deborah Cox. To be fair, Deborah's had my hear since the 90's.
She sang this song!!!!!!!!! Never gets old.

No BBls , no cussing , no lacefronts just a beautiful woman singing her heart out ❤
Lacefronts... LMAO!!!
When music WAS music. ❤❤❤
Some of us women were born with a natural bbl, some of us women are Blessed to afford lace fronts due to cancer, thyroid, or alopecia hair loss. Some of us refrain from cursing too. None of that affects you as a woman other than your own personal insecurities. Her vocal gift has nothing to do with the packaging it comes in either. Nor does it validate it. Check yourself 💯
@@InT3graTi-Of-Pur3InH3arT girl shut up where did I talk about Ill women wearing lace fronts !? Are you slow!? I have two step Daughters I’m raising and I’d rather them love themselves for who they are then grow up thinking BBLs , lace fronts and a dirty mouth is ok
That’s what I miss bruh 🤦🏽♂️
I read that Patti LaBelle turned this down, and Debra Cox took it and sang it to the heavens!!! I remember in an interview Patti saying she missed out, but was so proud and happy for Debra!
So glad Deborah Cox sang it instead of Patti LaBelle. It fits Deborah perfectly.
Man she sang that end with so much damn strength man lol I miss the 90s 😔
I Would of Love to her whitney Houston sing this jam

Montell Jordan wrote this song and originally wanted Patti Labelle to sing it. When she turned it down it was presented to Deborah Cox. Love Patti, but Deborah owned this song!
Wow! I didn't know that
I didn't know Montell wrote this song. I must admit he did his thang with this song. Deborah was the perfect fit for this song.

She’s like a mix between Toni and Whitney. 😊😍
cressa pellom yep definitely !
I like how you said that. Makes a lot of sense
Yes. Her voice has vocal range !
True that
So true
Deborah Cox is definitely underrated. She never got the recognition that she rightfully deserves. Why does real talent always go unrecognized? It makes no sense to me. She should be up there with Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.
Her and Tamia should be bigger than Beyonce.
Sandra Seals
I agree I just heard her Whitney vocals for the Whitney movie. She is great.
Maybe she Had a bad agent, maybe wasn't going to dress like a street walker. She has plenty of awards in Canada though.
marbleann Americans don't know true talent when they see it and yes I am American.
Sandra Seals I agree. A lot of artists are more appreciated and sell more overseas than the U.S..

Well … I don’t know how to explain how I feel, what I feel, when I listen to this song.
This is what is called a masterpiece. Everything in this song, in my eyes, is perfect. Ask me the definition of perfection, and I’ll will tell you this song. How can aligning all these notes, using these instrument, can create something so beautiful ? How can someone embodize so perfectly the spirit of the song, so it just becomes an archetype, a masterpiece. The lyrics, and the voice make a perfect combo, that flows like a river, calm, yet suddenly so STRONG, that litterally re-create life in the soul.
This sounds like sent directly from God.
A
Since the first time I heard her, I assumed she would be huge like Whitney. When I saw this video, all I wanted to do was to hold her, be the best man she ever knew… then, when the Whitney biography came out with her providing vocals… broke my heart to remember the loss of Whitney and to realize that Debora was put in a supporting role. She deserves to be a star all on her own.
The music sounds like a straight up gospel song😭😭
YES
Glory be to God.😆
For real 🤣
FACTS, I always thought this song was a gospel song 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You must be like 10. This is r&b.
I felt this way before... I wanted to tattoo "love dont live here anymore" on my ankle at the age of 16. I suffered from one of the deepest broken hearts. For 3 years straight, I ached. God came to me though. He really did... I fell in love with Jesus, because His love was so overwhelming. I never got that tattoo. He has loved me and helped me to love again.

No matter how long its been since this song was made, it still hits the same to this very day💯Sista Deborah Did That👏🏾👏🏾👑✨️🖤
How did she not become a bigger artist...her voice is amazing...one of the best vocalist ever. She is so underrated.
same story with tamia and many other great talents. its because show business with hollywood is dirty business. im guessing these lovely ladies just wanted to sing, but didnt wanna sell their body and souls to get exploited.
in the meanwhile, the top artists on the charts are mostly satanic talentless skanks. sad but true story.
GT-Oldschool I completely agree with you because most of the artist you named are way more talented than the artist that are considered the best. Tamia and Deborah Cox voices are unbelievable but yet they are rarely heard of..when they should be bigger than the top Rnb singers and you know who I'm speaking of!
Dionna Taylor agreed 100%.
I'm guessing it's because she married a huge NBA star and "settled down"

Only African women can have this kind of powerful, sulfurous, and candid voice due to the melanin they possess. African people are truly the first chosen children of God/Yawe/Allah/ Lagor/Zran/Gnamien... The first time I listened to this song I was in high school in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire ( Ivory Coast ) in 1998. It was the radio station called: " Radio Nostalgie" which was playing this. At this time living in a French-speaking country, I was not quite well understanding all the words she was saying, but the voice, the groove and the smoothness of the song got me.I was mesmerized by her splendid voice. Until today, she is among one of my best females R&B favorites.
amazing voices we have. powerful message
lmfao this is the dumbest shit ever. Im sorry but you're mistaken, I know plenty of white women with vocals that are unimaginable as well as women of other races. It's great to love your race but to make a comment basically sounding like black women do it better is ignorant. Now how would I sound if this were a white woman and I said only white women can sing like this. I'd be racist as well as ignorant and every other name in the book, right?
I get what ur saying
+Staci Williams But most of them always give homage to Black souful Artists (Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Etta James, James Brown,etc...) that they grew up on and idolized. Yes any race can sing with such soul, passion, and conviction (like Jessie J, Tori Kelly, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguleria, Justin Timberlake, Nick Jonas, Robin Thicke) but where did their roots start? A lot of them mention black soul singers in their interviews. We don't do it better but we are the foundation of soulful music dating back to the slavery days and that can never be taken away from our culture...
