    The strap is rubber now instead of leather and has a deployment clasp instead of the pin and buckle

      Ah, found some old images of the 2018 but couldn't tell a difference. Thanks for the added detail!

    In the livestream I asked if Swatch the group was creatively bankrupt and I think I used Omega as an example - this is what I mean. Another Darkside but now with a tiny rocket. Next up a bog-standard Speedy with a white dial. Its a shame because you see sparks like the CK859 and you know a brand like Omega has the ability but they are so busy playing it safe or copying Rolex they're boring me to death.

      You did ask this. I think I pushed back some but my best defense of them was only on the ultra-high end stuff. In other words they have skilled watchmakers who seem passionate but not in the price points where buyers live. Down there we get ridiculously expensive Planet Oceans made of some slightly different form of ceramic and tiny rockets on watches with massive engravings announcing how they were in outer space back before I was born.
      I was surprised at how short the CK859 run was. Granted they didn't even get that under 10mm to make it a really compelling (to me) dress watch. Even the Tudor 1926 is under 10mm.

    I just picked this watch up and like every other watch, the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The rocket is VERY subtle in person and unless you’re grabbing my wrist and holding it to your face you wouldn’t be able to tell that it is a rocket. (I do like that it is different) I did have a little sticker shock when it arrived as I did not ask the price when they called and to offered it to me, but it is a lovely watch and will wear well for just about any occasion. I enjoyed the review and have really enjoyed the comments 😊

      Congratulations, glad you enjoy the watch. I promise I will not dislocate your shoulder in a desperate attempt to ensure you do indeed have the rocket small seconds installed properly! ;)

    Ceramic Dennis, A rocket hand, semi - skeletonised with a fake lunar surface. It looks more like an expensive toy, rather than a serious watch..

    • @WatcheswithDennis
      @WatcheswithDennis  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Well, I mean the rocket may be more subtle than Snoopy orbiting around. Granted Snoopy was on the back and this is on the front so not really an issue when it comes to publicly facing. I think this may just be a bit too "fun" for me, at $14k at least.

    • @obesetuna3164
      @obesetuna3164 Před 7 měsíci

      Well, if they must appeal to the fun factor, at least the Swatch version is a bit cheaper.@@WatcheswithDennis

    Oh dear, that tiny rocket really is Omega jumping the shark ☹️. It might appeal to five year olds, but I would be embarrassed to show this watch to another grown up. The skeleton part of the dial is pointless, I actually quite like the moon texture on the dial, so a full dial would be better, but they should have left the movement bridges alone.

    • @WatcheswithDennis
      @WatcheswithDennis  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Meteorite dials don't resonate with me so the texture likely never would. But I agree there seems little point in the partial skeletonization.

    The minute and second hands should be all-white. As it it, the time is not sufficiently readable at a glance, and the proportions seem off vs the hour markers and their thicker application of lume.

  • @ramontscharner6516
    @ramontscharner6516 Před 7 měsíci +1

    The watch got 0.8mm thiner. They also bent the hands for the curvature of the glass and phased the hour markers.

  • @aaronmauer7225
    @aaronmauer7225 Před 7 měsíci +1

    I would have preferred the bottom of the 3 smaller hands was the rocket and not the left one. Would be more symmetrical

    No one seems to notice that there are 30 graduations on the seconds subdial.

  • @ALL-il1sw
    @ALL-il1sw Před 7 měsíci +2

    I'm confused, a puzzle/emoji or colorful balls dial is playful fun and should be applauded, even though largely unavailable to the greater market. Yet a space rocket on a spacewatch is gimmicky. Why does Omega have so much of a higher bar set for them?

    • @WatcheswithDennis
      @WatcheswithDennis  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Since I never praised the emoji watch from Rolex or the dippin' dot Datejust I cannot answer that.

    Hello , I am not an English speaker so I used a translation program to ask this question. The question is, what is the difference between the 2024 version and the 2018 to 2023 version?

    • @WatcheswithDennis
      @WatcheswithDennis  Před 7 měsíci

      Different movement, different strap material, small seconds changed from a simple hand to a sculpted rocket, and bezel insert has some text in a different color. 2024 version is almost 1mm thinner as well.

      @@WatcheswithDennis Thank you very much. According to your experience, is this a new generation or just an update? Do you think that after years there will be a new generation or will watch production be stopped?

    • @WatcheswithDennis
      @WatcheswithDennis  Před 7 měsíci

      @@user-jt9nc1em9r this is an update but in multiple ways. I assume in five years or so they will update it again but that depends on how well it sells.

    Best looking Speed Master in years . The rocket and moon surface makes a positive difference. SO many boring watches out there.

    I've seen enough comments all over to know that I'm in the minority but I really dig it...just not at $14k. Ouch

    • @WatcheswithDennis
      @WatcheswithDennis  Před 7 měsíci

      Always interesting to see which watches work for us and which don't. I know I am in the minority to not be drawn to any Moonwatch design as it is one of the most popular classics. But good news if you like this new one, I heard the 2018 could still be readily found at ADs so this one might be on discount relatively soon.

    Very disappointing, can't read the the time, hands are hard to see day time,and the illumination is very week at night. I expected more for the price.
