There really is no competition to the 1st Film in TMNT cinema. They perfectly mingled the comic lore with the cartoon spirit, but a few shades darker. I wish more films based off of comics would follow this amazing lead.
The comic was dark and the cartoon was made to sell toys (with Playmates following the examples of Saban, Hasbro, etc.). Don’t get me wrong; Donnie was my nerdbro back in the day, but the franchise jumped the shark way early.
@@Rurne No it didn't clearly because the cartoon and the 1990 film are still the best and only true representations of the franchise on screen to this day. It didn't jump the shark till TMNT 3 and then the Michael Bay movies and now this new Seth Rogen one.
@@kendallrivers1119 tmnt 2003 is the most accurate to the original comics and is more similar in tone to the 1990 film than the 87 overrated toy commercial of a show
@@MilkyWayMarsBarWell, you have to consider the context. Splinter had just been killed, so I can imagine that Casey wasn't in the mood for joking around.
Elias Koteas is an amazing actor. As a kid I saw him in TNMT but as an adult I seen him in Exotica, Crash and The Adjuster. He is an incredible character actor. He is the greatest Casey Jones of all time, but he has done much, much more!
Really, who doesn't. They had a different atmosphere to it, a different vibe. It almost like they spent more passion in to these movies instead of more money
The scene at 0:45 was mine favorite. And Casey Jones' reaction when he and the couch he is sitting on fall to the floor with a loud bang, it seems as if he meant: 'Guys, what is this?'
I have scoured the internet to learn whether it was scripted or not. If it was, he absolutely nailed it. If it wasn’t, he still did a fantastic job of using it to develop the character. I tend to think it’s scripted based on the timing and framing of the shot.
Donnie and Casey trading alphabetical barbs and name calling is cute and sincerely the best way these two could bond... Casey can trash talk all day and Donnie likes word games, a match made in Ooze.
I was really hoping to see him beat Tatsu with that Driver club and say "I'll never call golf a dull game again", but you captured him at his best otherwise; well done
I think that TMNT should’ve planned their movies out better after this. TMNT(1990)was a perfect a movie and should never be altered the movie made sense and was a good homage to the Mirage Comics. TMNT Secret Of The Ooze should’ve really focused on The Krang as the main villains with this revealing the origins of the mutagen and how the turtles truly came to be, The Dr working at TCRI could be revealed as Baxter Stockman and during the final confrontation could be sprayed with the mutagen becoming a fly. The movie could conclude with the Turtles defeating The Krang but it would also reveal that Shredder had indeed survived his last encounter with The Turtles and Splinter and was seeking revenge revealing stolen mutagen. TMNT Part 3 would instead focus on the return of Shredder with this seeing the debut of Tokka/Rahzar and this movie would also see the death of Splinter who would sacrifice himself to protect his Turtles. The final battle would pay homage to the Mirage Comics as well with Leonardo decapitating Super Shredder in the end of the movie. Casey Jones could be added to either TMNT sequel but I think he should be presented in all three with the third movie showing a team up between Casey Jones and Raphael to take down some Purple Dragons who are aligned with The Shredder until they are jumped by The Foot Clan.
TBF, Prof. Perry was going to be an Utrom (some foreshadowing was present throughout the movie that would've revealed this), but the idea was scrapped out of concern that kids would mistake him for Krang (It wasn't certain if Krang was the cartoon equivalent to the Utroms or not since he was the only one of his kind.)
Or in appearing in the Denzel Washington thriller Fallen in 1998 as a serial killer also bald. He was one of the best actors on Chicago PD as Detective Alvin Olinsky
I remember watching this as a kid and laughing really hard at that scene where he mocked Tatsu's grunts. The whole movie is an absolute classic though. They really don't make them like this anymore.
I love the cricket bat, you can tell casey jones is literally into every sport on the planet. Id love to see him smash someone with a polo mallet or a chuck a jai-alai ball or a tejo puck or some goofy shit like that.
Funny as Raph's joke is, what makes it work for me is Casey's reaction at 0:07 . He's simultaneously recognising a good diss, and getting offended by it at the same time.
Both the scene where Casey Jones took out a Foot Soldier to go undercover, and the scene where CJ used the garbage truck that Shredder fell in to knock a few Foot Soldiers off a fire escape deserve to be featured here.
None of the movies that followed even come close to this one. They actually brought the turtles to LIFE. Modern ones focused way too much on silly woke nonsense and CGI.
They wanted to make to the 2nd film more family friendly and replaced Casey with the character Keno (Ernie Reyes Jr.) who was created just for the film but brought back Elias Koteas as Casey and another character Whit in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 in 1993.

The way he said “Oops” before killing Shredder cracks me up
Could you imagine though? Sure, shredder is the bad guy, but casually crushing a man to death and not even feeling bad about it
the same thing happened in TMNT 2012, but instead Casey looks more serious instead of goofy, which makes it funnier

Casey Jones hilariously cracked me up so hard at 0:45 while eating his apple and broke a swinging chair. 😂😂
Was that a deleted scene? I had this on VHS and honestly don’t remember that at all.
