Great video. Full of excitement,I was on my wits end… cliff hanger. 👍🏻
That's Funny! Your comment would mean something if you was somebody😂
Cool battery cable routing!
Thanks Rick! Its nice and clean and there totally out of the way of stuff! Have a good one Buddy 👍
Good job Don wiper motor works great now you can drive when it rains
Thanks K Dog! This was a fun little project and it turned out great! If I ever get caught in the rain I'll be prepared! Have a good one Buddy 👍
Hard to believe that parts as old as it is , works great
Hey Robert! Yeah man that's kinda what i was thinking! The old wiper motor works like new! Have a good one Buddy 👍
The cars are looking great.
Thanks Brad! Have a good one Buddy 👍
You are the body and fender, floorboard guy, in the 60s we had a 57 210 model with a mid 60s Vette plant and 202 intake 4bbl carb 3spd tranny, it kept busting tranny and 3rd member gears, after my Dad died I got into rebuilding the Tranny and just one 3rd member. I was 16 or 17 yrs old when I started doing the repairs on that car.
Great little touch to the car. It worked out really nice Don. Keep up the good work man. Talk to you soon 👍😎✌️
Thanks Kevin! Man this wiper motor works like new! Kinda crazy but man im not complaining! Have a good one Buddy 👍
I just saw an electric wiper for sale the other day. I would have looked into it but I have a spare one.
I also found an orginal washer unit on my other 55 210 and it had the button on the knob and installed it on my Nomad. One day coming from a show it started raining and I was hoping it would work because I never take the car out in bad weather. Whell I try not to and I was lucky the wipers really worked and they worked well. It's usually the thing you think about.
Good seeing another video.
Hey Harvey! Yeah man I buy them when ever I see them for a decent price! I was wondering what the washer bottle bracket looks like for a 55 Chevy, I have one off a 56 Chevy and not sure of the bracket is the same. You got lucky when you was in the rain and the wipers worked!. That's pretty cool man! Have a good one Buddy 👍
Nice when it bolts on without any fab. Did you see the Chevy Christmas commercial 2022 on CZcams it has a beautiful 57 Nomad.✌️🇺🇸
Yeah man this job turned out great and put a part back on use on a car. That's kinda whats ive been trying to do lately! 8 have seen that commercial with the 57 nomad what a nice car! Have a good one Buddy 👍
Love jobs like this, start on the bench, install in the car. Complete! Thanks for sharing Don. Great job
Hey BW! Yeah man tgese are the jobs that keep fuel in the tank! This was a easy one and turned out nice! Have a good one Buddy 👍
A cool and rare option... Very cool man!!
Thanks Chaz! Yeah man this old wiper motor works like new! Have a good one Buddy 👍
Cheers
Good morning Don, I kinda watched the channel out of order, ha ha. I don't have a alot of time lately . I can tell you, that when you have alot of projects you can get lost really easy. My friends all try to tell me sell some of them off and focus on just one or two of them, but I can't do it. I guess I got a problem, but it's my problem and I'm good with it 👨🔧
Hey Mario! Yeah it can be overwhelming when you have alot of projects! These cars are getting hard to find and I would rather being trying to fix them all up instead of trying to find one to fix up. Have a good one Buddy 👍
i need to find a couple of them electric wiper motors for my tri fives . my cars had vacuum wipers on them. that electric motor you put on the 55 looks like it works great.
Hey Jim! Man I try and buy the electric motor every chance I get! If I run across any for a decent price I'll let you know. This one works really nice i was suprised! Have a good one Buddy 👍
Thanks Don for the great video on the wiper motor I'm in the same process with mine I also noticed that your running with the old brake reservoir is that by choice I had in my 56 nomad a disc brake reservoir but it stuck out like a sore thumb so I went back to original stayle with 2 outlets from classic industries in Huntington Beach,CA again great videos what you do...keeping Heart Beat of America going on Nomads happy Hollidays Big Don.🎄🎅
Thanks John! The wiper motor install went great and the motor works like new! Everyone seems to hate the original single cylinder master cylinder! I rebuilt all mine on my cars and they work just fine. If coarse I don't drive around in these cars like its a new car either, I just cruise them! My convertible has disc brakes and im going to try and run the old original Treadle Vac power brakes, we will ser how that's goes. Have a good one Buddy 👍 Happy Holidays to you and your family!
Just subscribed 👍👍 the 55 Chevy is my favourite of the 5-6-7 cars
Thanks Man! Yeah I agree the 55 Chevy is my all time favorite car! I do love all three years as well. Have a good one Buddy 👍
I'm definitely taking notes on this one big Don, eventually im gonna get mines to work, I learned my lesson with the nova not having any, and an early morning trek to a car show which had fog mist falling and we couldn't see, such an inconvenience for sure, not to mention an upset wifey, this is her words. STOP BUILDING SHIT HALF ASS!!! So thanks for sharing brother I'm going to need this, ALOHA Have a great week
Hey Sonny! Man oh man you can't have the wife mad at you! That's the worst ever because they make you feel so bad! The stock electric wiper motor is fairly easy to install and do work well! Have a good one Buddy 👍
Hey Big Don, super good video, I was really digging it, that motor works great, I’m a little behind on watching CZcams I knew you had a couple out I didn’t see, oh yeah the working videos you know I was liking that, you said there all 2 speed motors, you mean unless Mike and his buddy’s have the Vice Grips out, ha ha, catch you real soon buddy
Hey Mike! Yeah man this wiper motor really works great! I still laugh when I think about you guys running the wiper blades as you drive down the road! Oh the good old days! Have a good one Buddy 👍
I.m glad you posted this today. It's raining in vegas and cold so I couldn't work on my project but I can watch you work on yours for my car fix.
I lived in LV for 20 years, yup 47 and rain is cold, if I remember right you would be looking for your sweatshirt if it was below 65. Remember seeing 100 days straight of over 100 degrees and not one drop of rain. I liked the desert weather.
Hey Rick! Yeah man I guess you still get some rain in Vegas! We've had rain off and on for the last few weeks! Glad you enjoyed the video! Have a good one Buddy 👍
Hey Buddy! Yeah man I think the dry desert living would be awesome! Have a good one Buddy 👍
Great video Don! Thanks for sharing this with us. After watching it I went and dug out the box that has the electric motor. It is complete with the transmission and the chrome deals where the wiper arms attached. Even has that operating cable. Only thing missing is the control knob inside my 55. Apparently it must have been setup for the washer fluid but I don't plan on using that. Actually I didn't really look closely to see if it will Even fit because of the tunnel ram intake. Does a gasser style car even Need windshield wipers!?
Hey Gorni! Yeah man this is one of those easy little projects that turned out great! I would say if you have the complete setup to just keep it in case! You may find out there's not enough room behind that big Block to install the original wiper motor but I'm not sure man! I don't think a Gasser would need wipers but you never know. Have a good one Buddy 👍
Cool !!!! 😎
Thanks man! Have a good one 👍
I can only find one speed on my electric wiper motor. And I cant get the blades to park that low.Maybe Im doing something wrong.Since mine only has one speed I set up a push pull switch to run it and I made it look like the factory switch. My original switch stripped on me.
Hey Buddy! If you have a factory electric wiper motor is should have 2 speeds. Maybe the switch itself is back and not making constact with the other speed. Can you adjust your wiper arms any to get them to set lower, I also beleive there is a small adjust on the swing of the wipers on the wiper motor itself. If I get a chance I'll look in a old service manual I have and see for you. Have a good one Buddy 👍
Nice job showing and explaining that install of the electric wiper motor, sure brings back memories of when I did that on my 55 Chevy 25 years ago. My gosh don’t blink, time sure goes by fast. 👍👍
Thanks Man! Your so right about time flying by! 25 years ago I was young and trying to figure out being a adult! Lol I hope to find a way to slow it down for rhe next half of life. Have a good one Buddy 👍
😎
how do you paint your cars a gun or rattle looks great
Hey Andy! The primer is sprayed with a gun. Its rustoleum primer red oxide and anything I paint on the body of the cars is painted with a gun! Sometimes I will use rattle cans on engine parts and such! You can paint with cans but it tends to leave Tiger Stripes in the finish! Have a good one Buddy 👍
It’s nice when things go together like planned 😊
Hey Howie! Yeah man it sure is. Sometimes things just want to work! Have a good one Buddy 👍
There is upgrade wiper system you by its expensive to cost big money no cable use anymore
Hey Elliott! Yeah it's made by rain gear or something like that! I just perfer the old cars to be like they was years ago. Have a good one Buddy 👍
Nice little period/OEM mod Don . I remember the vacuum type on a ford that my dad had in the mid sixties I also remember going round the scrap yard with him looking for a wiper motor to adapt for it it , Happy memories and its where I started to learn with the old man
Hey Buddy! I enjoy the comments of the old cars and how we all started! The Vaccum Wiper Motor must have been of some use they made them for a while on cars! Crazy to think nowadays about a car we drive having Vaccum Wipers. Have a good one Buddy 👍
I remember driving in a snow storm on the expressway in my 65 Rambler Classic, with a vacuum wiper motor on it's last leg, the wiper motor had enough power to raise the wiper blades, but they would stick in that position. I had to drive with the door window open and push the wiper blade back down with my ice scraper, so the vacuum motor would raise the blades again. That was one of the scariest winter drives I've had, on top of that, the wet heavy snow started to make my accelerator pedal stick, and I would have to hook my foot behind it to pull it back. Somehow I made it to my destination without an accident.
Curious to see how your blades move on the glass with that electric unit. I have the same but it only works decent when the glass is wet and the wiper runs a few minutes and warms up.55S were known for not too great wipers as you must know that, LOL! I also had to remove my knob assembly(frozen) and free everything up out of the car including removing the cable wire also frozen from the sleeve. Let us know how it moves the rubber blades .Yours seem to work real good for now seems nice and strong. Don thanks for posting this video..
Hey Glenn! Yeah that's a good question! I'll do another video of them running with the rubber on the metal blades. I remember years ago riding in Tri5s in the rain and the wipers were not to great! I can only imagine what Vaccum Wipers was like back than! Have a good one Buddy 👍
@@donshotrodgarage1717 Yeah my 55 was a Belair originally with a straight six and had those terrible vacuum wipers. My electric one I picked out of a junk 55 in the woods in Connecticut when I was a kid around 1970 so the unit was 15 years old then so its probably was a little tired. However it works well enough to pass inspection here even though they didnt check them yet,LOL! Yours will probably be fine looks to be a good strong unit. Im wondering if mine is hooked up to the wrong side of the ballast resistor after seeing your video .Isnt one side less voltage constant when engine is running????????????
Right on, that old windshield wiper motor worked pretty good 👍🏻
Hey JJ! Man I was pretty surprised at how well the wiper motor worked. Have a good one Buddy 👍
Is that slow park wiper motor from a 57?
Do got any follower in Pacific Northwest. Besides me made trade , for 56 2 dr wagon. Need core support tail light assembly left and rite , and a rear pumper
Hey Buddy! Im sure there is a few out there. I'll see what I can find out your way! Have a good one Buddy 👍
Nice job Don ,Cool to see you got them installed and working, now like you said new blades and your good to go 👍🏻💪🏼
Thanks Big Job Ford! Yeah man all I need is some new blades and im ready! Im very happy with how well the wiper motor works! Have a good one Buddy 👍
Donny I Have the same “soldering gun”….that’s awesome we’re tool twins
Hey Man! Yeah thats cool you have that soldering gun! They work awesome and do a great job. Have a good one Buddy 👍
The 55 Nomad that I had was vacuum wipers. We found one for 10 bucks in the wrecking yard. This was in 1974 so a lot of electric wipers to choose from. Tri-Fives everywhere.
Hey Dean! Yeah man ive seen alot of Tri5s with Vaccum Wiper Motors! Hard to believe that would ever had passed years ago. I can only imagine being in a Junkyard and seeing so many buildable Tri5s! Have a good one Buddy 👍
I have a set of wiper arms that I didn't use on my 57. I was wondering if you want them.
Hey Peter! Yes I would certainly like to have them if yoir not going to use them. If you go to my home page I have my email there. I would buy them parts off you. Have a good one Buddy 👍
@@donshotrodgarage1717 you can have them as soon as I can find your address
Are you in Ohio? I did find your email address at Gmail, so I'll send you a short email.
Nice one Bud , a nother check mark of the list works great 👍
Thanks Lonnie! This turned out great and if I ever get caught in the rain I'll be prepared! Have a good one Buddy 👍
Nice upgrade. None of my 1950"s cars had electric. A 1961 BeAir I had did have two speed electric
Hey Lee! Yeah man most of the old Chevys ive seen come with the Vaccum Wiper Motor! I guess you would have had to check the option for electric wipers. Crazy to think about nowadays. Have a good one Buddy 👍
I always loved how they couldn't put an extra two inches of length on the control cable. Back in the old days we took them off , so we could run the tunnel ram . Small block was no problem , big block you had to notch the cowl back about an inch to clear the rear carb . Dead giveaway of an old race car .
Hey Bob! Man you always give great insight into the old cars. I had another 55 Nomad that was a race car and it had a notch in the fire, I always wondered why they cut that out! Have a good one Buddy 👍
He probably will not be driving this car in the rain anyways
I try to keep them out of the weather. Have a good one Buddy 👍
