Hi thanks for the video but could you tell me what the problem was to begin with, I have one of these that comes with an error every time I try to load the md, every thing else seems to be ok including the changer. Many thanks.
Hi thanks for the question in my one some functions were not working example the next track button would not work volume would be ok another one I've seen on my other MD player was it works fine but once the drop down panel is down then closed again the screen goes blank but music is still playing What your description says it's either the MD disc at fault does it play ok in other machines if so then you have a loading issue something is either jammed or broken sensor out of alignment there is also a plastic cog which has a nasty habit of breaking but this I've only seen on full size decks also does the disc come back out or does it spin then the error message if so that maybe the Lazer unit which can be brought or even taken out of other machines but this head unit I've not tried to get the Lazer assembly hope this helps any more info please ask I'll see what I can dig up
Thanks for coming to me, I push the disc in but it doesn’t spin and within about 3 seconds it chucks it out with an error fault, I am no expert but to me it feels like a sensor like you say that should detect the md and spin it which is not working. I have tried different discs and the same thing happens, The changer works fine.
Ok does it just say error or is there numbers and letters if just error then sorry to say you'll have to either take it to a repair shop or open it up yourself if confident but if you go down this route try downloading the manual because taking apart the Lazer assembly and putting it back together is fiddly trust me I know good luck
It just says error, it’s shame, as it’s a great unit, thanks for all your help, I will look at it again but it might end up on eBay as spares or repairs if I can’t get any where with it. Thanks again.
I agree a shame since I made the video it developed a new fault the audio amp cuts out now which I guess is a age related thing I wish Sony made more MD units the format was perfect for car audio and as a walkman I have a lesser model one which I am using in the mean time until I can get the m690 back in but good luck and happy hunting in finding another one
